Hi again! In an entry level crime analyst position, would a person be doing queries and using programming languages ? I'm not clear on the level of complexity for an entry level position because I've heard various answers on reddit vs job descriptions

Welcome to the industry! It really depends on what type of agency you join. A smaller agency will not require programming languages. However, a larger agency with more complex systems may require some. They also could hire data scientists so the analysts would not need to do the big programming. Overall, as an entry analyst, you would need to understand basic querying methods in programs like Microsoft Excel and Access, depending on what the agency uses. We have some analyst-focused training that can give you the basics.
