Just bought a 2011 a week ago....and this happens this morning. Took a little digging to find this video, but I'm so glad I did. Saved me a ton of time and money.
Blower suddenly stopped working on my 2010 F-150. I spent about a half hour checking fuses and after striking out, I went to youtube and this was the first video I watched for this issue. I went out and swapped the two relays like you did and my blower works now. Don't know what I'd do without folks like you. Thanks a million!
I have a 2016 F150, whose blower motor stopped working. I checked BCB fuses 17 and 60, and the BCM (right kick panel) double fuse 12 and 13. All fuses were good. I knew my next step was to check the blower motor relay but my solution was going to be to check out the relay wiring diagram and then create a circuit to energize it. BUT THEN I FOUND YOUR VIDEO!! What a fantastic idea! I pulled a random relay that had the same exact numbers all over it and plugged it into the place where the original one was. Result: THE FAN MOTOR STARTED WORKING! Thank you so much for creating this video--it saved me a trip to the dealer.
Man o man thanks to you tube, people are Saving lots of money. My blower just stopped last week working, out of curiosity I went to Ford and asked them how much and how long it would take and they told me anywhere from $500 to $1000 bucks. The only reason I did not leave my truck with them , they told me they were behind on work. I said le me look on you tube. Voila!! Got I fix for less than $50 bucks after watching some videos on you tube.
Thanks buddy you just save me purchasing a new blower! Not to mention the guy at the local Ford parts desk just told me it would take 12 hours to change the blower motor. I think he was thinking of the Fresh air door replacement. Thanks!
So after removing the blower motor which if you dont have a swivel adapter it can be a bear. However checking the motor and replacing the resistor I watched this video and vola it was the relay. Thanks for your info much appreciated.
That was it. But I have had so many instances in the past where things would go wrong and I would check the fuse or relay, and they would be good. And I would have to replace the part, ie fuel pump. So I didn't even bother to look at the relay, until I happened to see your video. But other videos I saw, suggested checking the blower fan itself or another part located near the blower. (Guess they figured most folks would automatcally check fuses first) Thank you for reminding to check the simple things first
Nicely done Major.$18 for a relay seems a little stiff to me.You might could try your local salvage yard and grab a handful for that price.Merry Christmas my friend.....
Merry Christmas to you as well! You are right about the salvage yard, just none within an hour of me. It would have been worth the drive as I believe they only charge 2.00 per relay
I have a 2009 ford 150 platinum and my blower is not stuck and runs with heat and Ac. But the way it runs it dims the lights on and off with the speed of the fan running. Almost like a heavy load on a circuit and your lights dim a bit and then full on and then dims a bit and back on full. That's what my fan blower sounds like and does. Is that part of the same issue for me or is there something else that is part of the blower ? Thanks. Great video by the way too.
@@MajorWeakness thank you for the fast reply. Much appreciated. I will have it checked. Probably best to change both anyway. Motor blower and sensor. If that is the case then the motor should be putting lots of stress on the sensor part heating it up. If the shop finds its the motor blower I will change the other part too. Matter as well do both . Thank you very much. It helped a lot clearafying things in a better view point. Have a wonderful day Sir.
My 06 blower motor resistor went out little over a year ago so I ordered one on Amazon had good reviews it worked for a year and when it did burn out it would only work on setting three and four that burned out couple months ago I got that company to send me a new one now this one’s only last about a month or two and it only works on setting for now not even three anymore now I’m getting real irritated and trying to figure out what the problem is you’re going to watch your video and see if I figure anything out
When swapped 3 with 4 it appeared that you left the bad relay in position 4. Was that the cause 😅of the rear window defrost not working? So easy to make that mistake mistake.
I got a 2008 mustang for the likes of me can’t fiquire it out. I swapped relays I changed the resistor.. you can run and wire to the blower motor to a battery it works fine. But no power going to blower motor
@@MajorWeakness that’s the only thing I haven’t tried. But you can hear the ac compressor come on with the switch but doesn’t blow through vents. But I guess it could be messed up on the fan side of it. I really appreciate you responding back buddy
@@davidbryant5875 I would work my way back from the resister. Put a power meter on the resister and see when you change the switch does the output voltage change or does it even have an input voltage. If it doesnt have an input voltage then keep working back towards the switch. Might just be a connector that came loose
Check all your ground cables around the relay box. Sound like there is a wiring issue. Look for any evidence of chewing damage by small rodents. They love to chew on wires.
did the same thing ? swapped out relays still didnt work so i checked fuse #51 swapped that ?still not working checked power at fuse plug in ? there is power on 1 side but still no blower fan and no power at wire plug in at resistor ? any ideas ? maybe button switch on dash ? cause it would nt be blower motor cause no power at plug in on resistor ?
i just found another thing to check first ? is the climate control fuse thats in the fuse box thats inside cab #10 mini fuse ? let you know @@MajorWeakness
So I swapped relays and it seems to be working now as long as I don't turn it to 4 "high". If I do that, the air begins to shut down again. Any idea why?
@@MajorWeakness It is- not really sure where to go from there. Ive changed the blower relay,,I guess today Ill try fuses, but fuses don’t make sense to me since the blower fan runs, In fact I put a new blower fan on it about two years ago. Might be the switch itself, if so it looks like Ill have to replace the entire face plate.
I changed out my relay a few weeks ago and then I heard a clunk. My theory is that the fuse blows before the motor is about to give out. I have to get a new blower meter

Fixed my problem on my 2014 ecoboost, and was same relay. Thanks for the post.

I go to the salvage yard for my relays, free. Great video, thanks bro!

Honestly my scrap yards around here are about the same price. They upcharge like crazy especially within the last 2 years
Best idea of the day. Grab a resistor or 2 while at it.
Worked for me. Thanks.

Sounds like your blower motor is going bad and pulling, too .many amps but should be brought to a shop to confirm

Make sure you do not have any water licking in there. On your blower motor resistor it will make it fail premature

My 2011 blower just stop working on low and medium. Will that fix my problem
Probably not. Your symptoms point to a bad blower motor resister. These are simple to change and available at any local auto parts store
My heater works on everything except hi
Any idea would help
Check your blower motor resister
Could it be she same issue with the fans not cutting off
Yes. Just swap a few around and see if it fixes. You can get these relays at a junkyard for less than 5.00 each

Sounds like a bad speed resister. Most auto parts stores sell them
Hmmm, Mine stays on continuously on one speed. I replaced the resistor, didnt fix the problem- 🤔
Very strange
