Yes! Shirley Bassey came to my mind as well when I was listening to this. The strength, energy and power with which she sang this reminded me so much on Shirley Bassey's.
She’s been trying to get into Westend theatre since she was 20. She’s said she’s been on hundreds of auditions and other than working on a cruise ship has never gotten the part. She reminds me of Barbara Streisand before the director successfully fought to cast her in Funny Girl and a star, literally, was born. She had the talent, personality and It factor but had been constantly turned down for not having the right look before she was given a chance and she’s still going. Sydnie has that same combination of one in a generation voice, quirky & wonderful personality and like Barbara she always connects with the audience. It’s a two way street, they feel seen by her and she makes us feel. The greats all have that gift you can’t teach. She could easily stand with Barbara and Celine, the only two living on the same level. Whitney had it but sadly she’s gone.
She reminds me of Jessie Buckley, a fantastic Irish actress and singer who also emits this funny, quirky personality yet is incredibly talented. Go Sydnie!!!
I was on pins and needles all week waiting to see this as soon as the video was posted. She looked gorgeous, she sang fantastic, and is still so humble. Bless her and shame on those that denied her the chance at stardom all these years when she auditioned for plays. And she won this semifinal. From the USA, so can’t vote or watch it live unless someone knows how to view it. The Final is Sunday night in GB.

STRATOSPHERIC PERFORMANCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She has to be the best singer I've seen on BGT, if not ever. She reminded me of Shirley Bassey in her heyday.

Exactly what I said when I heard her sing this! ❤

Maybe her acting isn't up to par for Musical Theatre. Don't know why else they wouldn't cast her

A super star is born ❤ love you Sydney ❤
You are voicing what EVERYONE is saying… she is a winner!!!
You just saw new star, she is amazing❤
Yes you had to feel for the opposition. Lost before you compete. But was great to have the right winner. A legend in the making.
Britain's New Diva. Reminds me of Barbara Streisand.
Wow wow wow!
And she did end up winning BGT :)
Great Reaction 👍🙏💯😎
I really enjoy watching your reaction, guys. Is Felipe also a music teacher?
Hi there, neither of us are music teachers, I'm an ESL teacher, and he's an illustrator 😊
She did win, rightly so. A £250,000 first prize and a slot at the London Palladium.

Not everyone who really deserves to win does so ,don’t forget to vote for her ,imo Tom Ball should have won but didn’t
