Me too Merrill, I've been there with my 800. Signal disappears, great targets end up being rusty nails, or even being old rusty beaver tails that are deep. Merrill, I haven't lost anyone I know to Covid, but in the last five years, I've lost three good, close buddies, and I know the hurt. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your videos, they allow me to enjoy my hobby, anytime I want, like in the dead of night when I can't sleep, and to, like now, just before I am gonna go out and hunt a permission yard where the curb is stamped 1952, and where I dug a 1950d dime yesterday. Today it's the back yard, all dirt, no grass :)
Shot gun cartridge. The bottom part is brass. The old ones have paper top part that holds shot/ buckshot / slug. Modern upper part are plastic. Sorry I don’t spell to good. Learning. Disability. You and your family are in my prayers.
Oh Dear Lord... I came in at the end of your broadcast, re-watched the end of the video and just heard you say you just found out you lost a dear friend to CV-19. I'm so sorry to hear that. I will say some special prayers for you tonight when I go to bed. My deepest condolences Merrill. Hang in there man, you're a good dude!
Merrill - I am very sorry for your loss. Please know that your entertainment and content has helped through the pandemic and life stress. My comments are always in appreciation and to inspire you to continue following your passions. It is healthy to reflect and put life in perspective. My thoughts are with you.
Just catching up on your videos because your more recent ones have really inspired me. I started detecting 6 months ago and, like you, I’ve finally found the thing that excites and inspires me. Detecting keeps me sane and constantly thinking about now to improve and dig more. I’ve truly found my ‘ thing’.
Hi NYC from the UK, Can i just say i find that a lot with minelab metal detectors the signal disappears when you dig it up, it has not gone away if your detector picked it up then its telling you its a target, you must break up the clod of dirt or dig a bit deeper. It could be just a small target and with digging it up you broke the halo a round it, or moved it on it`s edge it is there you just have to trust your detector.
Great dig, hope you flying eagle cleans up well. My condolences to you and your family and your friends family. My prayers are with you all. God Bless.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I don’t have any answers as to why such things happen … Sometimes the world just sucks. The important thing is to make the most of time you have with family and friends while it lasts. They’re the real treasures in life.
My condolences Merrill. At least you got a Flying Eagle & a Silver Thimble. Practice Practice and Practice and of course you already know that. Another thing I might add is bring all of your coils with you (6”,11”,&15”) so if you do come across a certain site like this again, you can adjust on the fly.
Merrill I am sorry to hear about your friend I just lost a friend who was like a brother Friday I can't explain it but some day we will understand prayers for you and your friends family 💖
Hugs from my family to your family. Turns out to be a very good video for your kids. lots of important "life" messages in it for them. Thank-you for caring and sharing.
Im sorry for your loss. We are all going through some rough times, thank you for providing entertainment as a distraction from it all. I do have one other thought on your disappearing targets. Some non ferrous targets sound like non ferrous targets only from one angle. Most of these are deeper targets or targets partially masked by iron. With that in mind: Some ferrous targets sound like non ferrous targets from one angle. In some situations these ferrous targets will continue to sound like non ferrous targets until there is very dirt left over them. When they are uncovered they will no longer sound non ferrous, and the non ferrous target you thought you had seem to dissappear. This is especially true when on an older site where old square nails have rusted. A small piece of older rusted nail will fool the equinox even at F2 6, I've dug several.
I’m right there with you Merrill. Metal detecting takes me away from all the daily frustrations and worries. So sorry to hear of the passing of your friend. Prayers my friend.
I'm sorry to hear about the lose of your friend. It's strange how Covid affects different people. I had Covid back in August and September of last year and it was nothing but an inconvenience to me. We will keep your family in our prayers.
within the last few weeks, i had some on the beach dissappear. I used the pinpoint function which told something was still in the hole. try it with your Nox. Sorry for your loss
the bullets you found were shotgun shells. bird shoot will drive you crazy, they are so small your detector will pick it up but you pinpointer it hard to find. i will chase them for 10min before you located it because they fall through your fingers. just a thought
Congratulations on the thimble. The bullets are shotgun head stamps. Part of the cartridge that has the primer that ignites the gunpowder and makes it go bang.
Also another trick is to dig deeper when you find a Wheatie or silver. Dig just a bit, nothing too crazy. Use the pinpointer sometimes there is more there that your big Detector won't pick up.
I'm sure it doesn't account for all the disappearing signals but if a target is in the loose dirt in the bottom of the hole it will dissappear. That's almost always the case with me. Now I actually like it when the signal dissappears, then I dig out that little bit of loose dirt in the bottom of the hole and there it is.
I don't think that was a lipstick case, but more like a Schraeder stem valve cover from a model A Ford. High iron, try a smaller coil. Love your videos!
First let me say so sorry for your loss and prayed for you and his family. doesn't the ground ever freeze in NYC? you are only about 3 1/2 hours away and we frozen solid..lol
Oh I watched gigmaster show some problem he had with a 15" coil. He set his detector down, showed that when he moved a quarter in front of it it would read 11-12 and then when he moved (slightly bent) the wire (on the coil end) it would start reading 29-30 like a quarter should. Said they replaced his coil (loose wire inside) could you be having the same issue with signals disappearing?
Sorry to hear about you losing your friend. I have found many flying eagles with my Nox 800.VDI has been 15-16 and they are same thickness as a fatty indian with same comp. of metal. Disappearing targets could be from several things. You broke the halo and you just got to dig a little deeper or it is in the side of the hole or you are between 2 pcs. of iron. 1 on the left side and 1 on the right side and your getting faulting off the ends of the iron. It happens to me a lot. I have the original black Garret pinpointer in which I can slide a nickel up the side of it till it just stops beeping and go back in the hole and scan the sides and bottom to find the target. It gives it a few inches deeper to find the target easier. I never go out without a few nickels to use as a pinpointer booster. If the Nox says there is a target then there is a target to be found or your between 2 pcs. of iron.
Merrill my boy use the knowledge of the silver slayer......use the connery voice when calling your silver calls he will guide you from beyond...........
Alot of the parks where filled in with soil from nuke power projects. This maybe the reason why your detector is all over. Send in your Metal Detector for service.
I like to buy all your wheat pennies, when are you going to central park?I am really that your friend past away ,my deepest thoughts, you know dude there are 4000 a day who are die ing so just love and believe
You There's absolutely a 5 G Tower close...Imagine Merrill if it is doing that to your machines, imagine what you brain is going to look like....I give it 5 yrs and most likely it will beat out the slow poisioning of DHB....hahahahahaaaaaa

You know, I still can't shake the "what people think of me" thing. This video helps!
It's hard to explain to others how digging in the dirt has become my Zen.
Love the excitement when you found the thimble! Love that feeling!!!

Merrill is NO.1 !!!
The mouse coin appears to be a small hem weight. The lipstick thing is a Schrader valve stem cover. RIP to your friend. Prayers to his family.

How many times have we heard the Nox didn’t charge right after you connected?...
A lot of pretty cool folks are following your channel , Good Sir .
Old Chinese proverb :
Good luck , bad luck , who knows ?
Doesn't the nox show high 20s and 30s if your on the edge of an iron target?
Hey buddy, the things you're calling bullets are shotgun head stamps.
You better keep that silver thimble for a long time. A bucket lister, that one's for your friend. Thinking of you and his family
Thank you Connor!
Use a pencil eraser to clean the charging contacts on your detector and charging plug. It cured my Equinox when it would not connect.
