I'm installing this similarly in my bathroom. Instead of painting it in sealing it with a clear poly.

I did a room like this in burlap a while back. It did amazing things for the acoustics.

That is a creative way of getting texture and color in a room. I'm excited to see how the end product looks as well. I just may incorporate it into my home in some way.

Hear in Australia back in the early days we used to nail the hessian/burlap to interior wall frame then just paint over it with several coats of plaster till the holes between the weave are filled

interesting that we know longer get a running budget total anymore? I like the burlap idea I did that in my first architectural office back in the eighty's we also added a vertical 1 X 4 teak strip between panels lasted forever. every other panel we added a 2" soft backing then the burlap great result. LOVE the idea worked then today and tomorrow

I want to do a textured wallpaper for my bedroom but the cost is ridiculous. Had an out of the box idea to use burlap instead. Definitely going to give it a try after seeing how great your wall turned out!!!! Thanks!!

@@jenny_42 unfortunately it didn’t turn out great. It’s been a while but I think I remember the main issue being the adhesive seeping through. I tried a couple of different adhesives (spray, paste) and it just ended up being a mess. I still have the roll of burlap sitting in my laundry room lol. Maybe you’ll have better luck. ❤️

Ya know, as an artist; you can skip the wallpaper paste. Staple it to the board (like an art canvas) then saturate the burlap or canvas with Kilz or Glidden gripper.

Was thinking of doing something similar but was concern about how flammable Burlap is? Am I making a room a tinderbox?

  • @lookinggrl

Love the burlap idea, but not the particle board. That stuff is poison. The continual off-gassing from the adhesives can be deadly for those with sensitivity and even those without. I wouldn't recommend particle board for any indoor project.
