Will Anderson Jr. and Tyree Wilson are two top NFL draft defensive line prospects, that are quite honestly fool’s gold. The idea that these two will come in and revolutionize a team’s pass rush is completely overblown, and in my opinion both of them will be drafted higher than they should be. Anderson Jr. should be a solid player, but nothing spectacular, and Wilson has a very high ceiling, but has a long ways to go. This week’s episode use the all-22 coaches film to determine the good and the bad in University of Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr. and Texas Tech’s Tyree Wilson.

Will Anderson’s lack of power is very concerning. He might have a hot start, but tackles will eventually catch up to him. They will figure out he has no bull rush, and patiently wait until he commits to his ineffective power. Sounds like a Clowney situation. He won’t be able to be dominant and will become easier to plan for as his career progresses. I would rather go with Wilson, but he needs work. A dominant pass rusher always needs to be able to beat a tackle in three ways. Inside, outside, or through them. Wilson might be able to, while Anderson might not.

Anderson really does need to add strength, but if his frame is maxed, it's going to come at the expense of some speed and he doesn't really have elite speed for the position as it is. Two different flavors for sure. As a Hawks fan, I'd be okay with either one at 5, just not Carter. I think Devon Witherspoon would also be great, although that would require some scheme alteration.

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with the Will Anderson take. Let's do a blind college career stats of recent pass rushers to go in the top 5 and include Will Andersons.
    Player A
    Total Tackles - 148
    Loss - 51
    Sacks - 26
    Player B
    141
    47
    31
    Player C
    98
    40.5
    30.5
    Player D
    204
    58.5
    34.5
    Player E
    77
    29
    17.5
    Player A - Joey Bosa
    Player B - Miles Garret
    Player C - Chase Young
    Player D - Will Anderson
    Player E - Nick Bosa
Anderson also tested slightly better than Khalil Mack did at the combine so athleticism isn't an issue. So why exactly aren't we hyping him up like these guys? Going off the criticisms in the video none of the players listed above should have gone top 5 cause they were blocked by elite tackles and disappeared in games (more frequently judging by stats) at times. If a team has a chance to select a player who's comparable to a potential future HoF player I think you spend a top 5 pick on them.

I don’t think you can sit on Harrell and say he’s unpolished but can improve with the proper coaching and then turn around and say Will Anderson is polished but lacks strength on film. While the league only cares about sacks, WA had the most hurries of any top prospect drafted in the last 10 years. So he found a way. This year felt inconsistent for him at times, but he’s still a top 5 based off technique and motor. He’s still just 21, and while strength is a concern - the question is will he put in the work to improve that. I don’t doubt that answer is yes.
Still appreciate your great breakdowns :)

Will say that with both these guys being 1a and 1b for Edge rushers in the top 10, Wilson gets a bit of an advantage for versatility due to his size. Since you can line him up at 5 tech like an end or even 9 technique outside to get a head start. With Anderson I would feel better having him start away from the tackle in most match ups. People are saying Anderson could fill out but that is as MUCH a gamble as Wilson trying to learn the position and baseline techniques by the end of his first season. Safe to say both these guys' first contracts are going to very reliant on team situations and if they expect a foundational EDGE talent for their respective teams.
