We used black paper bags for those ones, we found them at Michaels!

Hi - it does need to be paper bags for this, the bags opening create the effect. We just posted a similar paper star tutorial, but you can use regular paper for that!

How many bags do you recommend?

For regular size lunch bags, 8 or 9. For the smaller size treat bags, I do 12-14.
