It's more just pride in the fact that old Adolf tried his best to bring us to our knees in order to invade us, and we swiftly back slapped his forces back to Germany. We took heavy damage and multiple losses when they attacked our country and yet we still stood to fight another day.

@@bradley6493 I don't think we should be proud of everything we did. We weren't always on the right side of history. For example the killings of many people around the world, and what we did in South Africa was nothing short of evil. But rather than dwell on what we did wrong, I choose to celebrate what we got right.
I read in the news that children singing patriotic songs in school was described by an MP as being similar to the Hitler youth. That made my blood boil. I don't know why people are so ashamed to be patriotic in this country. We're not perfect, but damn, we're hardly the worst people in the world.

And in addition to the fact that it wasn’t actually that long ago, many of us have grandparents who lived through it so it’s not old history 🤷🏻♂️😂
@@KissMyFatAxe you are right, but we must not hide the bad we did either because that is how we ensure we do not repeat our mistakes. It isn't just how we handled the war, we fought against fascists and won, can you imagine what would have happened if we hadn't won?

So on the 18th June 2021 will be the 115 times the teams have played. England have won 48, Scotland 41, and there have been 25 draws.

funnily enough for the upcoming england vs germany match for euro 2020, fans have been told they'll get a match ban if they sing the 10 german bombers song. we'll see how that goes!

I used to enjoy the "RAF from England" chant because we're so not politically correct with so many of our chants. But, if I'm not mistaken, that video of them singing was in Stuttgart for the 2006 world cup. I was there and some young German lad came up to me and was like "Why are they singing this?" and I didn't have an answer for him! He was genuinely gutted and we got talking about friendly rivalry and the fact not a single person in the vicinity had fought in the war or had a clue what it felt like for either side so why bring it into football? And I was like "yup, fair point, can't argue with that buddy".
Then about an hour later a Millwall fan tried to start a fight with my Dad because he found out we were United fans and I was like, head in hands, "fuck me, I actually wish I was German right now, so pissing embarrassing!" lol. England fans starting on England fans at a World Cup. Happened to me at Euro 2004 as well because someone asked who I supported.
They might look like fun on videos like this but trust me, England fans, on the whole, are a bunch of chav bellends. The majority of the time when I've travelled to watch England I've ended up, aside from when I was in the Stadium, spending most of my time with fans from other countries. Croatia, Portugal, Australia, Germany have been the best but hardly ever England though. Sorta says something.

The best of Englisch football are the fans and their chants. The rest is just a lot of money and Premier League is more like an opera with expensive tickets, but without a real atmosphere.

England has a one sided rivalry with germany who views the netherlands as their real rival so its a bit of a weird one cause many germans these days just wish england would just win something and get over it. this euro would be perfect since we are not going to get in the way this time and with a little bit of luck they could even avoid the favourites until the final but of course that would mean facing either belgium or france.

I've known the national anthem of by heart for more than 10 years(I'm 21). Ive seen English people getting beaten up badly for just disrupting or not singing the national anthem. Everytime you hear it, you stand up, hand on to heart and sing. Don't fuck with football fans singing the national anthem, may legitimately be the last thing you do, figuratively speaking anyway
