I'm surprised to see how modern Belgrade is. Stephan is a very knowledgeable young man. He speaks English well. I had to look on a map of Europe to see exactly where Serbia was. I would suspect many people in the US don't know the exact location of it. This is going to be fun to know more about it. Thank you Snouci!

It's not just WW2. Nikolai Rajevsky, Count Vronsky in Anna Karenina's novel, died and was buried in Serbia. His body was returned to Russia, and his heart was left by his family in Serbia, in the church they built at the place of his death near the city of Niš. Hundreds of volunteers, mostly officers and nobles, have been coming to Serbia for centuries to help fight against the Ottomans. And the mistake about the Sava/Danube river is cardinal. We will forgive the young man because he is young and not from Belgrade.

I enjoyed watching this video and was impressed by how well this young Serbian boy spoke English. Also found the city of Belgrade to be clean and modern. The Danube waterfront was also very nice and walkable. I would like to see some of the historical sites and the beautiful old architecture for which this city is famous. Your family and you are getting such a varied and interesting experience traveling the world. With all the chaos that is now happening it’s nice to see people being ordinary people and experiencing new places.

Russia and Serbia were allies in at least 3 big occasions.
First in the war against the Turks, which was extremely important for Serbia. For those who dont know some parts of Serbia were under the Turk occupation for 500 years.
The second time was in WW1. WW1 started when Serbs tried to expel Austro-Hungarian Empire from Bosnia (Serb land at that time) and killed the tzar Ferdinand. The Austro-Hungarian Empire was ready to destroy Serbia, but the Russian tzar Nicholas II stood with Serbia and the world war commenced. Without Russian help, Serbia would be probaby obliterated.
The third time was obviously WW2 when Soviets expelled the nazis from Serbia/Yugoslavia.
We shared blood, tears and graves over centuries.
So, if someone thinks that Serbia will turn back to Russia....its virtually impossible. There are people in Serbia who love Russia even more than Serbia lol

@@halfrussian I have no doubt that Stefan is a good, young guy. However, if you plan to teach someone about anything, at least you should have the basics of the basics under your belt. Do the homework first. I see this lack of basic knowledge and preparation way too often, which doesn't prevent people from lecturing with confidence about stuff they barely understand. It's no surprise that Serbia is a land of conspiracy theories: people don't know sh*t, so they shamelessly improvise.

10:13 Dinar is currency of former Yugoslavia and now Serbia. Other separated republics of Yugoslavia has it own currencies with different name. Serbia keeps dinar.
Fromwhere is dedrivated word DINAR?. For Yugoslavia, it is two sources, two reasons. FIRST one. DINARE. It is mountian chain in former Yugoslavia, people from there are alwys very tall, strong, healthy. SECOND one. DENARIUS or DINARISU is former ROMAN EMPIRE money. So, lot of mediteranian countries(hart of former Roman emipre), Yugoslavia with Adriatic sea is also part of mediteranian region, accepts name for roman currency, one of them is Yugoslavia. Actually, 18 roman emperrors was bvorn on teritory of today Serbia. Amongst them, famous COnstantine the great, founder of christianity in Europe and builder of Contatinopole, today Istanbul. He is born in today city of Niš, former Naisuss. Also, Isutinian August and other, 18 emperrors. So, it is explanation for DINAR. ALgeria, Iraq, Tunisia i think?, Jordan, Kuwait.. over 10 countries i think has dinar as currency,
