Thank you. Helped me with my Social Work studies. And I am really glad you updated us about your wife at the end. What a horrible experience to go through.
Really enjoyed this video, thanks. I've just qualified and I'm waiting to start my first role as an adult social worker, so I'm doing some 'revision' on theories and approaches in preparation. I really like the quote by Bateson and fully agree that making one small change in a key area can make all the difference. Your point that a theory applied badly can make a situation much worse struck a chord, and it's something I'll be keeping in mind during the ASYE year. Hope there's more videos to come.
Thank you so much. Your video made a world of difference. I am so glad to hear your wife is doing well. That was a fantastic way to end your video; it was a sigh of relief. Blessings from Texas!
It was a great video. I came across it as I was having trouble understanding the material I got from my professor and you managed to give a really nice and simple explanation with great examples. It was a good starting point for my study. Thank you! Hope you upload more.
Thanks for the feedback. I think it is helpful to hear/read quite a few different people's views on a theory to start getting a handle on it. I'm currently working on some material on reflective practice, which I hope to post in the next few weeks.
thank you I found this really helpful! at first, I struggled to understand systems theory and I feel this introduction really developed my understanding :)
I would say so. For me, systems theory is the wider theory, the meta theory if you like, and ecological theory is a more specific theory that sits within that wider theory. It a bit like how cognitive-behavioural theory, which states that our emotions and behaviours are modified by our cognitions, is a theory that sits within the wider cognitive theory, the later focusing on many more things, like memory and information processing. I hope that helps.
Came here for school work, left here with relevant info for my own life. Awesome sauce :)

very helpful in explaining systems theory!
Thank you, glad to hear your wife recovered.
Is the ecological systems theory (Bronfenbrenner) part of the systems theory?
I would say so. For me, systems theory is the wider theory, the meta theory if you like, and ecological theory is a more specific theory that sits within that wider theory.

Great news about your wife!
Thanks. The curse of being related to an educator is that almost anything can become a teaching point.
