I'm not 100% on the message of this song, but initially it's about living in a toxic relationship. Where your partner hurts you, abuses you, scars you in any way you can imagine but you're trapped...when she says "Surive in these chemicals" she's talking about the toxicity burning her, but she is forced to live in it (I think anyway). And the heavy part where we see the guy getting killed in multiple ways is her imagining finally standing up for herself in the most brutal way possible, but as she says in verse 2, she is a coward. So at the end we see the man walk up to the door, showing that she is still forced to live in her hell that she can't escape from. It's quite tragic and way too real.
I'm pretty sure it's more like chemicals in the brain, like she says "seratonin like a loaded gun." There's chemical love in the relationship, but it's toxic and loveless in otherways, so she knows that he's not good to her, but she loves him and is too much of a coward to leave and try to find someone better. Also when we see him in the last shot if you look closer he's more like a ghost, not fully there. So I think you're probably right about all the killing scenarios, but I think she does does sort of reach a resolution at the end (but he's still haunting her in memory, like she hasn't fully moved on but she did get herself out of there? I need to check that last scene to see if she still has the chain on her ankle cuz that's even more significant if it's gone. Anyway sorry for the book lol)
My take on this song is that she's writing about her time in IWABO. She and Mike (her husband and the guitarist for both bands) have said that they felt like replacement parts. To me this song is about how it felt like coming home, and felt amazing (serotonin) performing and doing the music she loves but she's just a "crutch" to hold up "the frequency", i.e. the old band sound and can't be creative. Might be reading into to it much but it's how I interpret the lyrics personally.
Spiritbox is one of my favorite bands, very versatile. Jinjer still has a large place in my collection. They both are phenomenal bands, some similarities but still vastly different. Yall know you can like more than one band, right? Just enjoy good music, God bless!
She's surviving in the relationship somehow (hence the chain). Serotonin is a chemical released in the chronically depressed to help them survive, usually serotonin is good for surviving in moments of stress (fight or flight response) but if long-term it is deteremential and leads to feeling of depression. The murders are her fantasies of freedom. In the end their is a birdcage on the porch and mans still inside creepily dominating her. Spiritbox is one of my favourite finds in the last 2years. They are a relatively new band formed out of the ashes of other well known math-groove-metal band. They litearlly have no weak songs and are exploring different sounds with each one. Love them Keep em coming Gibbster
7:03 'What in the Blair-Witch project?!" is honestly a really accurate way to describe Spiritbox. Most (all?) of their songs are either Horror or True-Crime related, and their videos are always creepy. And Courtney is a beast. Their songs go all over the place though, this being one of their softest songs. Check out Holy Roller for the other end of things, or Rule of Nines for something in between
Glad you checked them out. Now you gotta listen to Belcarra, Rules of Nine and Holy Roller. This band is awesome. Every band member is very talented and it makes for some interesting music
Gibbbbyyyyy, you finally got around to spiritbox!!!! The gang's been waiting very patiently 🤩 Please don't stop!!! I recommend you check out their one take live performances, they will blow you away😁
Courtney Laplante is amazing her journey started with her band unicron , then I wrestled a bear once - green eyes , boat paddle , gift of death please . And now her band spiritbox - rule of nines , holy roller , belcarra , bleach bath ,
Holy Roller, Belcarra, Rule of nines, Bleach Bath, Beauty of Suffering studio version... anything live in the studio are amazing. If you have time look at The Mara Effect parts 1, 2, and 3... very talented band. Keep it up Gib!
“Did she lose him or something?” Yes, you could say that 😂 The beauty of suffering (live recording by Courtney LaPlante) the lead singer of Spiritbox 800th like!
D-Gibby! I resubbed when I caught this video reaction. Spiritbox has so many good songs even though they are fairly new. Their newest release "Holy Roller" is a must see! There is another discovery that I really re-subscribed to you for. Another metal band from Ukraine. IGNEA. They have a keyboard and use eastern scales & modes so don't sound like Jinjer, but PLEEEASE watch IGNEA "Disenchantment". Lead singers' (Helle) eyes will transfix you. Her soft vocal tone will melt your heart. The video will grab and hold your attention. The best thing about it....it's a GREAT song. Forgive me for my lapse. I'll stay subscribed in the hope that you follow both these bands.
Rule of Nine, Holy Roller and hell even the stuff when they first started is amazing. You won’t regret going deep into their catalog This is project started by the Vocalist Courtney and her husband Mike (who plays Guitar)
Courtney's vocals are beautiful all the time. When being serenaded and when feeling like I should be in a horror film. I'm someone on patreon finallu suggested this band. Especially since I'm wearing my spiritbox+crystal lake shirt.
You're gonna want to just go ahead and make that Spiritbox playlist, Gibby. Belcarra, Rule of Nines, Holy Roller. Any one of those should be next. Belcarra, especially.
Welcome to SpiritBox to check out the song of rule of nine it's an awesome do you want super-heavy Holy Roller is their newest song one of their older songs before they became somewhat Uber famous on UA-cam belcarra is my favorite song by Spirit Box till the end of time
I did not read every comment however, Blessed Be is a term use by Wiccans, or those whom practice witchcraft in general that is the equivalent to Christians saying Amen!!!
Rule of nines and holy roller are great spiritbox songs u should check out! Im not a religious guy but I appreciate the positivity you bring with it and the outlook you have, keep up the good work my dude!
All my Spiritbox reactions so far: bit.ly/3r4wFXc
Spiritbox is the business.
After this you're going to have to get their newest single Holy Roller, I promise its a banger
He should probably hit some other ones that would ease him into it first, such as Rule of Nines. Holy Roller would drop Gibbs on his head
@@designateddriveranddragons8845 thats exactly why Holy Roller must be next though
Spiritbox is the most slept on band in 2020. Also, you should check out Holly Roller by them

So glad you started with this one! This band is one of those journeys like Jinjer Gib... don't stop with just this one.
Journey ?
With all due respect to this band, They aren't on the same level as Jinjer.
Steve Polhill With all respect to Jinjer, they are far better than Jinjer.
Spiritbox is one of my favorite bands, very versatile. Jinjer still has a large place in my collection. They both are phenomenal bands, some similarities but still vastly different. Yall know you can like more than one band, right? Just enjoy good music, God bless!
