- A young girl is attacked by one of a 5 Dalek invasion force set loose upon Ottawa Comiccon.
This video was taken at Ottawa Comiccon May 10th, 2013. The 5 Daleks are made in Canada by 5 different fans. They frequently toured the convention floor. I have a couple of more clips I'll post later this weekend.
So due to a lot of comments about the title being misleading... I've changed it from scares to startles. Really, I never would have thought people would pick apart a personal video posted 7 years ago for such minor things.
The video apparently is too long according to some users... if you look through the comments a lot of people have posted the time at which the Dalek sprays the girl (2:23).... so you dont have to waste your time.
Finally, I am not a "UA-camr". I dont make money on my post nor am I looking to. If you enjoy what I post, I appreciate you, and it makes me happy. If not... - Розваги

The compressed gas they're to exterminate people with using was actually a slow acting nerve agent, death occurs within 24 hours. They use this in situations where there is immediate danger to cull civilian populations under Dalek domination.

The Daleks might as well invade the earth on Comic con weekend and the whole world would just stand there in awe taking pictures...

Ed Blue We actually had a similar episode. Note the last two episodes of Series 8 when the Cybermen deployed onto the streets of London; the civilians posed and took selfies with them.

That girl survived the Dalek weapon because she's a Time Lord. She didn't change her face because she had already regenerated within the past 15 hours.

***** The 10th Doctor also got his hand chopped off when he had just regenerated from the 9th Doctor less than 15 hours prior. This allowed him to grow a new hand. And yes, the same hand came in handy (no pun intended) a few years later when he used it to keep the same face when regenerating after being shot.
Later on, Melody regenerated, changed her face, got shot by Nazis in probably less than one hour, then blew her shooters away with more regeneration energy without changing.

Daleks use slower acting neurotoxins in crowd control situations like this though they're perplexed as to why everyone is standing around laughing and apparently finding the whole thing very funny.

The compressed air firing from the extermination weapon was a fantastic addition. Harmless IRL but really adds to the overall costume. More Dalek costumes should add similar methods of working extermination guns.
I would have snuck a small LED into the end of the barrel so the tip also lights up when they fire, to make it clear they're shooting.
It's damn genius, though.

There was a kid that was cosplayed as the 4th Doctor near the beginning, but he snuck by unnoticed by the Daleks.

When I was at Fan Expo in August, the exterminated someone right in front of me, and it actually was very frightening! We didn't see it coming at all!

I was gonna say, in the beginning, the dalek was just like "Assistance requested, fellow daleks, I am captured." XD Then the other daleks come in to rescue him but they all end up being overwhelmed by the humans and end up running around like circus animals. XD

at my local con we had a family that had built a Dalek their son loved to sit in the hall way in the dalek not moving till a good group had gathered to take photos. then he would move speak or charge them and scare the crap out of the on lookers who thought it was just a stationary prop

I was a child when the first Dr Who series was screened. The episode with the Daleks has stayed with my all my life. I think they are still the best of all alien enemies. The Borg however come a very close second!

Suzuki Hikari I'm building it out of plywood, fiberglass, and metal. It's pretty early in construction, but it looks nice so far. :D
Before you get the supplies for it, just consider that some conventions would really frown on "blasting" anything at attendees even if it's just air. I'm assuming that since this is Ottawa the rules are slightly different but I know several major Cons here in the US that would kick you out for something like this. Food for thought I suppose.
Ducttapestuff I know, it'd be just for messing around with my friends and stuff. I'd probably have a separate build, maybe a Shawcraft Mk. 1, for cons and such.
