Really shitty that you got so many dislikes since your video helped IRP to fix a lot of these issues. Like the reverse gear lockout I believe has been fixed for the V3 iteranion. Good video dude.
IRP has already released washers and gap gasket just show proof of purchase and they’ll send you the kit for free
I have the TRD shifter for $160. About 30-40% throw reduction. No rattling. Tight shifting but very precise.
I think that Overall this is still the best shortshifter that you can buy on the market for performance. I plan to buy this shortshifter just to make the driving experience even better and more satisfying. little things like the lock-tight, bushings, and fixing rattles comes down to experience and learning IMO, and is part of what makes working on cars fun.
You’re 100% right... I daily drive my irp short shifter and even with the fix it’s button rattles something fierce! I DID find a way to HELP, not fix, but help it and that’s to move the bushing insert to that middle brake point in the shifter (not too tight though cuz then reverse lock out does not work). It keeps the rattle to only 5500 to 7000 rpm..
But stabilizing the reverse lockout line helps with the button rattle a lot
Get the TRD short throw shifter. Works great! No getting stuck in gear or shifting to gear mixing them up none of that dude! Got it with the Jackson Racing C30 Supercharger
Nice set up! It’s really personal preference for which shifter a person prefers so I’m glad you like yours
I want to get a big jack like that to save my pinch welds. Also how does it not come with instructions? Now that I think about it, the only thing that hasn't come with instructions for me was my overpipe, but installing that isn't exactly complicated. It did come with all the hardware: nuts, bolts, gaskets, and washers. Even the frontpipe came with instructions
It's too bad because that shifter seemed really cool in their install video, but perhaps IRP paid to have that video made
Same experience… had to pay 250 to Toyota to fix it wish I had watched this first lol I thought the soup feeling was it being completely broken turns out it was th screws

I had issues with the one I bought for my E39 as well, no instructions, didn’t even come with mounting hardware to mount it to the trans tunnel. Also didn’t fit the selector rod properly.
I returned it and got a CAE lol
if i learned anything from having a short shifter, id prefer getting more comfortable and quicker at shifting on the oem shifter
*Dis a REVIEW be ready* This thing is a pain in the ass to install haha. Then again I did it myself with no help. Real quick 😐 This shifter is worth it if you go racing, if not... it's a badass interior add on none the less. I used the ft86sf video plus a mixture of 86dude video to install. USE LOCKTIGHT when assembling the shifter. Da blue one lol. As for the rattle.. lower the windows and wam bam thank you mam it's 80% gone. Was it worth 500 hundo? 🤔 Noo, just because of the lack of no flipping instructions and lastly sometimes you think your gonna make a synchro soup out of your gearbox sometimes. Other than that you got a bolt action rifle in your hand. Tip: add the Perrin solid tranny mount. basicly = sequential gear box 😀

I've had the irp shifter for about a year now and I have no complains. You're complaining too much about things which could've been solved with some common sense (chassis mounted shifter with no bushings, doesn't use loctite) and the rattling honestly isn't a big deal.. like c'mon. It's a track oriented mod (literally the most in your face shortshifter that makes it feel like you've almost got a dogbox). If you're gonna complain so much about noise and other b.s. on a 'track car' then stop nodding your car. The shifters awesome and my favourite mod so far. Also it's not hard to install. Me and a buddy installed it in 2-3 hours in total lying on the floor in my garage at home.
I was making this video to inform people, not complain on a public forum. I’ve actually been in contact with IRP to solve the issues I described in their next shifter. I’m glad you had no issues though. More power to you.

I’m willing to assume all short shifters rattle, only because I have the Kart boy, and it rattles like hell especially above 4 grand. Also it’s a grip cheaper at under 300 bucks, so I live with it. Was going to go IRP, but it’s to damn tall. Though I see the reasoning behind it.
The tall is nice for the track but I’m not sure if it justifies the price tag... either way I’m sorry to hear that the shifter rattle is universal. Thanks for your input!
STI short shifter has zero rattle. Not as short as IRP though, but works fantastic for the street.
I have this shifter and performance wise is great but the rattle is annoying af im currently fighting over email with irp to give me the new one cus they fixed the issue with the new ones bit they dont seem to care. I urge everyone that has one to bug the shit out off them until they take responsibility for their mistake.

I’m stuck between Kartboy, or the trd short shifter
+Danny Menendez TRD isn’t technically a short shifter since the shifters height isn’t changed, that’s why it’s called a “Quick Shifter” Kit. I’ve heard good things about the Kartboy. Whichever one is cheaper will suffice.

First time buying AF parts? This is extremely common and most things arent gunna be direct bolt on and some modding or fabing will be required.... Dont blame the company for your ignorance

So time attack isn't racing then?
AD1 no, it’s not. Racing requires qualification, engine and vehicle size, or wheel type restrictions and will typically have to belong to some sort of series.
Tracking requires courtesy, point by passing (at times) and an overall respect for anyone using the track aside from you. “Time attack” (trying to beat your personal time) is not racing. And rarely will you be able to run a clean lap without having to maneuver around someone else

My car is catless and rattles all day and dont give a damn on my daily/drift car lol with solid transmission mounts with a huge amount of drone lololol
