Spot on. I am formerly YWAM. And if YWAM isn't a cult, it certainly lives up to the labelling of white saviorism, pretty much cult-like or cultish-LITE ;) 100% I wouldn't in good conscience recommend YWAM to anyone, and that's said as one who graduated with YWAM Secondary School leadership training to pioneer a YWAM Base or ministry. There's a lot to YWAM people do not know or yet understand. I'm very glad to have departed YWAM. YWAM was toxic!
100% agree. I was in YWAM for 4 years. I fully believe it is cult and they absolutely preach white saviorism. I would not encourage anyone to attend unless you want to be brainwashed.
@@HalleluJah337 YWAM is not a "college" nor does it have general education. Almost any college or university will have a creative writing course. You could start looking at a local community college to get basic credits and beginning creative writing classes.

Yes, there are many of us I think. I was there in 1981 when I was 19 and it looks like not much has changed. The people may be different, it is the core teachings that make it a cult. And they are the same world wide.
@@wendilounsbury3402 I'm glad you had a good experience. I think a lot of people's experiences depend on what base they were at. I did my DTS, SOE & was on staff for 3 years at the Elm Springs, AR base. It is very well known as one of the strictest and most cultish bases due to the leadership. I will say, that while I was there, I was blind to the brainwashing, mind games and control. I had great outreaches and made great friends. It wasn't until after I left that I saw the experience for what it truly was. I think that the longer you are with the organization, the more heavily you get sucked in.
Well it isn't associated with a particular denomination or theology so to make "God" known is kind of silly as a mission statement. I think what makes it a cult is the hierarchical leadership structure, unpaid staff with no benefits, communal living, and jargon. It is a great cult though - one of the best (although I do question central American ministries during the Reagan administration that was sketchy).
Cult leaders tell your wife to meet them in the attic for a sex spree.I went to ywam and they don't do that. They don't chase you with a gun if you leave to.Thats no cult brother.Respect to people who want gods love to be known man and what they go on to know about him it's beautiful. Straight up.
Thats not what cult leaders do 😂 cult leaders can by sly and tricky, but very dynamic people. Not all cults are sex-in-the-attic. And even in YWAM, affairs and sexual abuse is rampant. Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist!
Im confused. Are you girls born again Christian’s or people who don’t believe Jesus and joined YWAM? I don’t know too much about it that’s why I’m researching but this video seems like mockery and blasphemy. What makes you think it’s a cult??
Cults wreck people bro.God heals people. Every man having imperative knowledge is the aim in ywam.Respect to peoples kids is important to.Dont reject these people. God loves people and these guys end up knowing that true.
Jesus might not be those things, but the humans that are in leadership at YWAM sure are! Sure, they are allowed to, but that doesn't make it good and doesn't prove that it's not a cult.
Grew up in YWAM. Great people, fun adventures, cant say enough good things about most of the people there. Got a great classical education. 100% a cult. Jehovahs witness is one too but they also have some amazing ministries and help out a ton of people. Same with scientology. Some great people in that cult too.

100% agree. I was in YWAM for 5 years, was fully dedicated, did have some great experiences but also a lot of bad ones. It is very cultish.

So then where would you recommend one goes to “college”? I’m trying to find an affordable creative writing course.

Just came across this channel and if i had to make a UA-cam channel it would this kind of comedy/satire/critique. Love it
YWAM owns several houses in my neighborhood, so this is definitely a surprise.
Omg. Wonderful. Insane but wonderful.

I don’t believe this is real…
How messed up was my childhood that this feels totally normal to me 😭
YWAM is not a cult, do not believe everything you read. Eye roll. And those girls and guys look like they are having fun. YWAM is a great experience.
Are you a current YWAMer?
I wasted way too much of my life on YWAM I would argue that it definitely is a cult.
@@GiraffeLoverJen I was very involved when I was younger and just got out of a Crossroads DTS. I had and have had wonderful experiences.

YWAM is not a cult.
Right, because cults don't lie to get members and brainwash them? Oh wait, yes....yes, they do!
