Pocket Door Installation in 2x4 Wall

I didn't realize how these doors were installed until I found the pocket door kit we bought from Home Depot. It makes the whole thing pretty easy. A couple hours to prep the wall, a couple hours to hang the door, and another couple hours of hanging drywall, mudding, finishing, and installing the finish trim.

Think it would have been much more stable if you had installed king studs and a proper header

Thanks for showing your work. A couple of random thoughts.
1. Good to know there’s a pocket door that will fit a 2x4 wall. I didn’t know that was available.
2. Would have been handy to see what you did with the wiring and switches. Keep in same location, or relocate?

We relocated everything away from that area. I wouldn’t recommend trying to keep electric in that wall area

My take is don’t do it unless you have no other options, this is way too much work and too much can go wrong. Like knock down the wall only to find it to be a load bearing
