Elgar's cello concerto is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard.

Great documentary. I recently discovered this composer and his music. Being a choral singer, I am just in love with his choral works. "The Dream of Gerontius" is so far, my favorite of his works. It is unbelievably moving and just gorgeous from beginning to end!! However, his "Apostles" and "Kingdom" oratorios are also incredible!!

The populist title does not do justice to this excellent documentary, the value of which is the comments from such a wide range of (mostly) distinguished artists, particularly Tod Handley, Tony Payne and Janet Baker. Very much to the point and illuminating to both lay listener and committed Elgarian. Equally fascinating are the changing styles over the years of Andrew Davis's hair and beard! Thanks for loading!

Ken Russell calling Britain “the greatest empire in the world” would have been edited out today.

Think The Apostles deserves to be in there, and should've been the whole Enigma Variations rather than just Nimrod. Good documentary though.
