They are amazing, I seen them 5 times. Armageddon it, is a good one. Hysteria is a mellow one. Joe the lead singer plays piano and guitar. Him and Rick who was playing piano and bass, they are the song writers. The long blonde guy his name is Steve and he died from alcohol poisoning in 91 I think.
Rick Allen the drummer made his own drum set between banging and electric, he got the title Thunder God.

The lead singer does play guitar as well, but as for the 2 guitarists, Steve Clark actually died in 1991 and his last ever live performance was the song "Tear it Down" on MTV. You should react to that one. Steve has since been replaced by Vivian Campbell, who has played guitar for many huge bands including Dio and Whitesnake. Phil Collen is the other guitarist and has been with them since 1983 until now. He's also shredded and still performs live with his shirt off. haha. I could recommend reacting to "Rocket" from their upcoming DVD, which they just released on their youtube channel as a promo for the DVD.

Joe Elliott (lead singer) occasionally plays acoustic with the band, but not usually anything else. He actually auditioned for the band as a guitarist but they were unimpressed with his ability, however his voice really stood out so they hired him as the singer. Steve Clark (RIP) is the blond, long-haired guitarist dressed in black, was never a great technical guitarist but the music he wrote was fantastic, some really incredible riffs (check out Wasted for both an example of one of his songs and a heavier sound, or the instrumental Switch 625). Phil Collen, the short-haired guitarist, is his polar opposite, he was always considered a technical wizard on the guitar, so the two complemented each other well. The two were inseperable and for their drunken binges back in the '80s they were nicknamed the Terror Twins, partly in homage to Led Zeppelin's Toxic Twins. Phil gave up the drink at one point and became a vegan - Steve couldn't, and was on a lonely, awful road to killing himself from his drinking (at one point his alcohol level was 0.59, much higher than the 0.41 that killed John Bonham) and he sadly died in 1991 from alcohol poisoning mixed with morphine.
Their first two albums are heavier than their later work, and they were long considered to have been a part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal in the late 70s/early 80s, but they've always resisted that label. They certainly could do heavy if they wanted to, but they've always been more influenced by British acts like Bowie, Slade, T Rex, Mott the Hoople, etc.
Songs I'd suggest other than the usual popular ones you'll have people talking about are - Gods of War (more of Steve's great riffs), Die Hard The Hunter, Stagefright, and Undefeated from a more recent album. Hope you react to more of their songs, I'll be watching :)

Def Leppard were formed in Sheffield, England in 1977. They are one of the greatest selling rock bands of all time and have sold more than 100 million albums. They are one of only five rock bands with two original studio albums selling over 10 million copies in the U.S. Musically they are as talented as any rock band. Both of their current guitarists, Phil Collins and Vivian Campbell (formerly with Dio and Whitesnake as well as a couple other bands) can absolutely shred on the guitar. They are also in the Guinness Book of World Records. by playing three gigs in three continents in 24 hours. Tangier, London and Vancouver.

This was called heavy metal bands mostly started in the 80’s. Songs that tell a story you have to go back a little further. This is dance music to me. There are some good 80’s songs with stories to though.
Try the Righteous Brothers and You’ve lost that Loving Feeling.

If you like their guitar solos then listen to Switch 625, it's basically one big Steve Clark solo.

It was a great concert. I had to beg my mom to let me go. They did have really good guitars. Rick Allen the drummer is amazing. Joe Elliott lead singer, huge crush. Of course I decided at 12, I was gonna marry Angus Young. Lol! I was definitely a head banger, still am! 🤟🔥🤟

Always liked Def Leppard. There a good rock band that can play their instruments. They broke onto the scene when they were only 19 years old. A couple of good songs are "Foolin and Photograph". Keep On Truckin!

Actually a LOT of those 80's "hair metal" bands had really skilled musicians who were great songwriters - its kind of a shame that the glam image they adopted for marketing purposes ended up overshadowing their talent.

Def Leppard is a great band. They're rock but not heavy rock. They just have a great sound and were consistent in their music. Rick Allen, the drummer, plays what looks like an electric drum kit as he has special attachments to make up for only one arm. He uses his feet to play as you probably know by now.

  • @zackbeamer7771

If you really want to know the backstory of the band react to or watch on your own time Def Leppard behind the music it’s about 35 to 40 minutes long but it’s very in detail and all the bandmembers are interviewed

  • @zackbeamer7771
    @zackbeamer7771 4 роки тому +2

So since he has one arm he plays all of his left arm beats with his left foot. So his drum set is electronically built to where he can play his left hand beats with his left foot while still being able to play with his right hand

Tracks from their first 3 records (On through the Night, High 'N' Dry, and Pyromania) display more of this band's talent from an instrumentation perspective. After the drummer's arm was lost in the accident, the band gradually "mellowed out" eventually turning their musical direction to practically a "catalogue" of acoustic ballad-like tracks with an occasional banger... And I mean OCCASIONAL. I would suggest reacting to "Another Hit & Run" or "No No No" if you want to hear this band turn it up a notch or two.

Damn, friend! I like the journey you are on! Big metal fan here, but I cut my teeth on hard rock and early metal, as well as early hop hop. Def Leppard is part of the soundtrack of my youth. 🤘
I see you've been checking out Linkin Park, too. That song _Fine_ by Mike Shinoda is killer, right?! Anyway I have one for you that is super underrated. The bass drops are absolutely delicious! Not to mention Shinoda's lyrics are very relevant today. You'll see what I mean.

Also, I'm not sure if you've seen it yet, but an absolute MUST on any metal journey is to watch Metallica perform their song _Creeping Death,_ live in Moscow, in 1991. There were 1.5 _million_ people in the audience. Yes, _million._ Still gets me hyped every single time!
