The parable of the sower, shows how some are disingenuous and will have a show of belief, but when pressed they give up and turn away. Salvation is a gift for all who will receive it. You can't take a gift back that you've given another, now the recipient can do as they please with the gift, accept it, throw it away, do nothing with it; the same is true with Salvation, it is freely offered to all. Now, the scripture also points out some things we should see of those who have truly believed and accepted this gift of eternal life. Fruits of the Spirit.
He may have explained this poorly, but salvation truly is forever. Why neither point to the scripture to prove their belief. Once, God gave His Son for the sins of the world, once for all! The scripture shows us salvation when truly received is eternal. 1 John 5:13, 1 Pet 3:18, Rom 6:23 .
