Yes it is that bad. There is a lot of crap and things that aren't as advertised. It is also subsidized by the chinese government and uses literal slave labor while you complain about apple that doesn't and actually pays really well for china but you don't understand economics.
Just in case anyone is really trying to look into cheap temu panels.. I got a "120w" foldable panel from temu for $80. It shipped via ship, and temu messaged me 20 days after it said shipping started to tell me item was likely lost since they hadn't heard and update in 20 days. They gave me a full refund, then a week later it arrived! Anyway, its about 6' long unfolded and 2.5' wide. Gives me a consistent 90-110w under less than ideal winter sun to my anker battery. Works better than any of the goal zero, anker, etc foldable panels ive tried, and came with adapters to convert its mc4 connectors to any battery I own. It also has its own little charge controller with usb ports that works great, 2x 24w ports, 1x 15w port. Build quality is excellent. Only complaint is there is no kickstand like most foldables.
I've ordered stuff from TEMU 3 or 4 times, mostly small kitchen/bathroom stuff. I tend to stay away from the electronics simply based on the quality of the items I've gotten: everything matches/does what it's supposed to do, but not sure how long it will last, or how much heavy use it will take. The most expensive thing I've ordered was a small vacuum sealer - under $15! I fully expected it to not work at all out of the package (and their packaging is crappy, as you saw), but to my surprise it worked! I've still got the very first bag I sealed with it, and it's still holding a seal with no air leakage 18 months later. And while I don't use it alot, it still pulls a vacuum and seals to this day. Color me amazed!
I agree with you.. I bought lots of items off of temu. And most of the time the items work . But I don't expect a top quality item . Long as it's works
Actually it is a scam temu falsely advertises there products like they are super top quality you know there moto shop like a billionaire but in reality it's all very low quality junk so yea temu is a scamming company.
@@edwardmcgowin1784 I'm sorry that is total rubbish. If an item is really, really cheap it is not top quality. That's common sense. If you look at the advertising none actually claim to be the item they are not. They may sound very close to a genuine item but not 100% the same. Many sites do this including Amazon. But that is not what scamming is.
@@edwardmcgowin1784 You mean you thought it was a high - quality site? Then that's on YOU, because everyone knows it's the Dollar Tree of the internet. When they say, "Shop like a billionaire" They mean that prices are so low that even low income people can shop like they are rich. What did YOU think they meant? That their stuff is high end and for billionaires? I bet that's it, isn't it?
Honestly man, ive been ordering drill bits/screws and other miscellaneous things like drill accessories and whatnot and i have yet to be disappointed. I also got the same solar panel a while ago. It is extremely handy especially right now with our power going in and out due to the winter storm we currently have in mooresburg TN. I did get a flashlight that is rechargeable for free with my order and honestly it comes in handy with small jobs. Not anywhere near as bright as it was advertised but for free, its handy
I don't want a heavy flashlight in a bug out bag. Temu does have heavier.. .temu packaging does suck always bent boxes... I have 100s of dollars of temu items. Love 99 % of what I got.
Regarding weights of flashlights: technically, there's not much you need between a powerful LED, some USB power circuit that prevents the battery from being completely drained and something to put that electronics in.
I don't have a channel so I will just say it here. I bought $135 worth from TEMU. I spent over an hour and a half carefully going thru their crap and weeding out the total crap bought what I felt even they could not F up. I was very surprised when the package arrived. Out of 23 items, only 1 was complete garbage and went straight in the waste bin, one was questionable and the others are completely usable and fine. If you take you time and don't go for the gimmicky trash you can find some gems there.
Hi Tim, I have the metal flashlight bought it from amazon 300lumen takes 2 AAA batteries it also came with a single AAA flashlight 150 lumens on a lighting deal for $8.99 marked down from $14.99. Temu selling the same flashlight for around $5. The only 2 flashlights I bought from temu are the V3 from Boruit $9 to replace my original from amazon which cost $23. The other is a Rovyvon counterfeit for $5 400 lumen, which I gave as gifts . Yeah, hit or miss with this store but for the price some items are really worth buying. Thanks for the video.
Thanks rain Walker. I think you give me a good idea for my next move video. I think I’m gonna do flashlights and I’ll try one of the ones you mentioned there. Thanks for the recommendation.
I've ordered a few things and found some decent things. The duck decoys were smaller than a standard deke, but plan to repaint them to have some teal mixed in with my mallards, as a single real deke is around $15 and temu sells them for around $5! The non stick camping waffle maker is non non stick so be sure to have some spray pam handy. A winter hat was about $3, and is decently warm. The mini flashlight was a bust, a single xmas tree light would have been brighter. Some things are a deal while others should have stayed in China.
Exactly. Like Harbor Freight, temus pricing validates one to make the product better thru modification like you did with decoys or source the products parts. It works.
I have that 30W, which is not, solar panel and I'm very pleased. I use it to charge my flashlights, my Bluetooth speakers, my headphones and any rechargeable lights, like worklights, desk lamps, lanterns. I like to place the solar panel right next to my window. Unfortunately I have a screen outside the window and it covers the sun rays a little bit. But it works great. The maximum current I usually get is 0.20 amps from the window under clear sunny skies. Remember it only turns on if sunlight hits the panel. Overall I'm quite happy. It takes forever to charge my phone from the window. It's better under direct sunlight. The current easily goes àbove 0.20 amps under direct sunlight. Perfect little solar panel for emergencies
Well here is the real deal. And honestly it makes since, as westerners we pay for “quality” but in reality we pay more for name and looks. In reality the Temu products are cheaper because Chinese products don’t worry about the outer shell and more on what’s inside the devices. Yes they are cheap, but they accomplish what s intended 90% of the time.
I bought that flashlight.🔦 it works great for a kids flashlight on camping trips. You can charge it durning the day! Kids love it and it does work in a pinch and hold a charge! It was great for the cheap price, was not expecting a $50 quality flashlight!
I feel like he got exactly what he ordered and if he didn't have any other flashlight he'd hang on to it, not throw it away for being junk, same with solar panel. I bet he didn't throw either away. Also, it's got to be pretty solid to if survived shipping from the other side of the globe in a plastic bag. One drop and it will break, I'm sure that ship has sailed before you saw it😂
Most items are fine, I've gotten a ton of stuff and they're actually the same stuff being sold on amazon. But I will always avoid most electronics, charging cubes, power banks and batteries. Every time you hear a story of someones phone catching fire or a flashlight or device exploding, it's always with knock off chargers or batteries.
I played the fishland game and got the emergency solar hand crank radio and I was very impressed it has good sound held a charge for a month and radio is crystal clear stations
That’s cool to hear. It definitely seems to be a hit and miss site but my second video I did ended up being almost all quality products, which really surprised me.
I have returned many items from temu and they always just give me a refund and tell me to keep the items. My mom had to actually return clothes that were $16 (free return shipping) but i found everything under $10 they give me be an automatic refund no questions no actual returns. However i have been happy with most things i buy But i am quick to return anything im unimpressed with.
I do same if the items arrive with scratches coz they don’t pack them properly, or if the quality is really poor. Worst experience so far was that i ordered pants again, coz they was so nice, which then came with a totally different material. That pissed me off a bit. But absolutely no issues with refunds so far.

Bought a 40watt solar panel from amazon for 60$ . The thing is worthless. If you put your finger in front of one of the cells , the while thing stops charging.
thats how solar panels work. unless it's monocrystalline so the whole thing is one giant cell, they're small cells in series to create the voltage. when you put your finger over the panel you're basically cutting a wire.
I agree with everything you said about the cons of temu. that said. There are some better flashlights if you want to make a second martyr i mean order. The BORUIT V3, Sougayilang 1.8m/5.9ft Telescopic Fishing Rod And Spinning Reel Combo Kit...
thanks i will add them to the next order. i just recently did a second vidoeua-cam.com/video/x5HoAG73hgU/v-deo.html&pp=ygUQdGVtdSB0b29sbWFuIHRpbQ%3D%3D
cheap and quality never go together, have the right exceptions, I was totally expect the phone will be dead from the solar panel, turned out it changed 23% it blew my mind,
I agree with your thoughts on Temu using a loss leader strategy. One difference however is that I think it's a current loss leader for it's real business which is information. Supposedly their books show merchandise driving only 10% of profits. I think there can be a skill developed to somewhat tell the ones that are higher quality. I bought some tools that were fantastic. Also if information gathering is the worse that it gets I really don't see much difference between Temu and Google/Facebook/Amazon. Wait... those companies don't give me cheap tools in exchange for my information.
look tim, you overpayed for that panel. if you knew anything about solar panels you could easily estimate how much the actual wattage is coming out of it. I got a 12v one because of coupons so I can keep automotive batteries trickle charged. They also sell those 60 watt larger ones in a pack with a cheap charge controller. Each one only puts out about 25watts. So for $90 you're getting 50 watts of panels and a 5 dollar charge controller that won't stop when your battery is full. For 90 on amazon you can get a real 100watt panel from a brand like renogy and be miles ahead.
Oh I 100% overpaid for this panel. I should’ve taken the time and looked at the actual dimensions but I did buy a Klein multimeter that works on USB ports so I’ll be able to be more specific on the next batch of stuff.
That first flashlight, someone on a UA-cam review somewhere that I saw had opened it and found that inside it is only a single 18650. Can be swapped for more batteries if you’re so inclined.
Some stuff is decent all depends on what you are looking for. But its a bandwagon thing. Once it slows down prices will go up. If you want something like solar panels this is a good way to get them.
I have bought all kinds of stuff from temu... never had a problem yet! been thinking about the solar panels there for my pop up camper and a few others would be worth looking at still, but this helps to see
I find that the foldable solar pannels from temu are only good if you buy the higher wattage models. i bought a couple of the 30w foldable ones and a 100w foldable. The 30w foldable are basically useless. The 100+w are a actually good.
Remember it all depends on your application. Determine your project with all of it requirements and constraints and then source your parts. With solar panels, a small panel would work well with earpods, small rechargeable flashlights etc. These small panels could be built into a small portable caddy For these rechargeable items.
Ive not used temu but the quality and wait time from what I’ve seen my mate buy i wouldn’t even bother a few extra quid and next/same day delivery is my preference
I buy many practical homestead and electronics control board stuff from temu as well as ebay. If you plan for a given project and then source your parts from temu or ebay cheaply, it works well. I simply buy stuff from temu for the parts a product contains. To source each component would be more expensive....why not? For the price, it makes sense to buy from them. The flashlight, he reviews, by itself, is junky and toy like. I bought it for its leds and parts of the unit to install in a metal backpack frame along with good switches and a larger lithium battery. It serves me well when hiking near dusk hours. Temu works in this respect.
Let's be real about the solar panel here. Your top of the line solar panels get around 22.5% efficiency and average ones get around 18% efficiency. Solar light at noon on a clear day is around 1000 watts/m^2. So using the lower efficiency, you should expect to get 180 watts of energy for each square meter of panel that you have on a clear day at noon. These little panels have about 0.28 meters x 0.12 meters of active area for 0.0336 square meters of active area. If the cells are 18% efficient, you should expect about 6 watts of power and about 7.5 watts of power if they are 22.5% efficient. Clearly there's some false advertising going on, however, they do list the product dimensions in the picture so a savy consumer should be able to use the dimensions to estimate the true potential power output. In order to get 30 watts of power under standard testing conditions (clear day at noon) you would need 30/180= 0.167 square meters of panel for 18% efficient cells and 30/225 = 0.134 square meters of panel for 22.5% efficient cells. This translates to a dimension of 41x41 cm worth of active area for 18% efficient cells and 37x37 cm of active area for 22.5% efficient cells. You can use this do determine the true rating of the cells before you even order them. Now beyound that. Is this panel a rip off? Not really, I pruchased two 2.5 watt solar cells from amazon for roughly the same price as this assembled unit, with roughly the same total active area. I had buy my own wire and 3d print casings to fit them into with stands, plus I still needed to buy the USB A wire so that I could plug my phone into it. I'm supposed to get up to 500 mA at up to 6 volts from each panel and I've actually seen each panel output 700 mA each under direct sunlight at noon. That being said, I spent more money and I had to assmble it. So these temu panels are actually not a bad deal.
Biggest Surprise: Lightweight poster board Solar Panel. Close 2nd: Streamlight knock-off. But the rest look like junk. Durability? We'll see . . . Some of these would be good for redundancy to throw in your extra bags, kits, everything/anything drawers, and/or vehicles.
as for flashlight 2 bucks its good to have one to stage a bunch around house . but eBay and some amazon are putting small panels not using the way reputable sellers rate a panel . there using how many watts for entire days charge surprised the24% so peak 4 days sun would charge
Your experience reflects mine some good some bad. It’s like going to the dollar store some things are cheap and I would not buy it again but I can’t cry over it because it wasn’t a great loss and it is the dollar store so you can not expect great quality but other things there are a great buy snd well worth buying again.
If you buy things that cheap they won’t be that good. I have bought a lot stuff from there and they aren’t that bad honestly. It just depends what you’re looking for. Some things are a great bargain there, others are crap
I ordered sam staff but when coming very disappointed The size the sleeper was wrong The think 4 plugs the hairs not strong in half etc... If i order something and it turns out to be crappy. Oh well what im going to be out a few dollars. I've spent thousands of dollars on stuff that turned out to be crappy. But i will say this about Temu they have some cool shirts. Material is not the best. But they have some cool pictures.
Temu knock off Gerber knifes are fantastic you can beat them to hell out of them they really hold up Great try them five stars***** excellent knifes 20 to 27 dollars ones

Good to know I have order some more solar items from Temu and Im going to do some more indepth tests
@@TOOLMANTIMSWORKSHOP I appreciate you sharing with us
That first flashlight, someone on a UA-cam review somewhere that I saw had opened it and found that inside it is only a single 18650. Can be swapped for more batteries if you’re so inclined.
Only a single 18650? That's a damn lot of power storage!
But does it work ?
The non-foldable 50w pannels are the best although they look and feel cheap.
I also bought a headlamp and a tactical light. They feel cheap as hell but Both charge quickly and provide decent amounts of
that is good to know Ill do another haul in a bit and focus on solar
Remember it all depends on your application. Determine your project with all of it requirements and constraints and then source your parts. With solar panels, a small panel would work well with earpods, small rechargeable flashlights etc. These small panels could be built into a small portable caddy For these rechargeable items.
Use the solar panel to charge the flash light
The torch would be ideal for camping being light in weight.
Maby it's 30 watts a day panel 😊
Well now that explains it lol
Only use TEMU for fishing braid, mono fishing line ,hooks swivels
Just buy the more expensive products. Now us sellers like big manufacturers are selling through their. You can buy patio furniture and more
1-24 percent in an hour holy crap I’m buying it lmao that’s hella good for a power bank and stuff
Yeah, I was definitely surprised by that
I got a 4 piece solar panel from temu £16 mine works fine
Feel like you bought a bunch of gimmicky bs that anyone else would’ve known that it would’ve turned out bad but you expected top tier quality 😂
Your experience reflects mine some good some bad. It’s like going to the dollar store some things are cheap and I would not buy it again but I can’t cry over it because it wasn’t a great loss and it is the dollar store so you can not expect great quality but other things there are a great buy snd well worth buying again.
Ok shrimp guy cool video you are so cool.
Temu s tech is low price and kills Harbor Freight sorry but ya.You can not compare the two.
US military has been told not to download the temu app. Just saying.
If you buy things that cheap they won’t be that good. I have bought a lot stuff from there and they aren’t that bad honestly. It just depends what you’re looking for. Some things are a great bargain there, others are crap
I agree
tim new subscriber love your passion for tools and helping out education to save money thx again
Thabsk for subscribing. Welcome to the Workshop

I delite too the App
U by cheaper and cheaper is !!😮😮😮
I didn't shopping any more to temu
Interesting video, but I didn't like you saying things like "would probably break", "would probably not last long" etc. without really testing it. I don't like this when talking about any product from any company. Just try it out and compare with an expensive product.
Its a light get over it it works
Ouch💚🇬🇧🌱 Temu always disappoints.
yeah its certianly more miss than hit.
If i order something and it turns out to be crappy. Oh well what im going to be out a few dollars. I've spent thousands of dollars on stuff that turned out to be crappy. But i will say this about Temu they have some cool shirts. Material is not the best. But they have some cool pictures.
👏👏👏👏👏
I've had a couple of those torches - absolute rubbish, the usb port breaks as soon as go to use it 👎
Personally i would not buy nothing from them a complete scan and rubbish
I joined temu with a promise of a makita tool kit on my first purchase but guess what it never arrived I believe they are just a ripoff sight
Temu is a scam, love this video and how it was an ad ❤
What do you expect for the money you paid.
Temu knock off Gerber knifes are fantastic you can beat them to hell out of them they really hold up Great try them five stars***** excellent knifes 20 to 27 dollars ones
The one problem I have run into is I can't get the gerber knock offs in canada, I will have to order some to my us post office some day becuase I have heard good things.
I hate the continuing advertising for this crap....
Dude, you gotta know. This is not advertising for this company. I spend all of this money myself to see what the hell I would get and was rather disappointed with the results. I hope this didn’t come across as an advertisement because there is zero incentive for me to push their shit. Hope this didn’t come across harsh, but I really didn’t want this video to seem like it was an advertisement for temu
I understand that... I hate the constant ad. feed on UA-cam.... I keep reporting the ads and dislike every short that comes through....
@@timdex91 I get it I should’ve done a deeper dive in this video but I got longer than it needed to for what it’s worth. I really don’t like their advertising with quotation marks around it form or process. It’s sketchy as all get out but at the same time if it’s a trend and it’s something people are talking about I like to deal with it.
Lol 😂 whoa man its not bright for 1 your outside lol and how do you know its crap it has arrived from another country in tact so thats a plus
Free returns BTW
😭
If unhappy you can get a refund on 2 items. Then the rest returned
Some good stuff, some crap. I’ve bought a fair amount of stuff from them. The best? Reusable zip ties. They open with a little tab. Hints? Look at all the photos with the item. They tell a lot. Avoid clothes. Inconsistent fit. If it seems too good to be true….
Thats great to hear, I just ordered another haul of temu stuff for a vidoe and didn't see your comment I will def order some resuable zip ties next time thought thanks for the reccomendation
@@TOOLMANTIMSWORKSHOP I shared zip ties with my friends. None of us knew there was such a thing. Great for extension cords, hoses, etc.
DON'T point powerful lights at cameras like that , totally moronic thing to do !!!
Temu get what you pay for think of the logic in price lol
🌇🌇🌇🌇🛌🛌🛌🛌
Like temu videos
"Temoo" lol
Does this guy think he's buying these items from NASA?
People like you give people wrong advice, you don't pay much and you suppose to get a lot. These things you got I have and been working good for four years and still going.Youre a little rich boy try to tell people about another man's gifts
Dollar store junk.
Everything is junk on temu
Temu 😂😂😂😂😂👎👎👎👎 Try speaking with customer service have to keep repeating yourself always Temu asking stupid questions over & over oh Boxes are all damaged or crushed as for the tactical flashlight yes total crap as for a lot of the gadgets sold on Temu
TEMU 👎👎👎👎👎😂😂😂😂 RUBBISH
I mean they gave you the measurements of everything on the photos so can't be to shocked with size
