    Trip Forman from REAL Watersports called me with an opportunity to learn to Foil Surf from a friend James Jenkins. I had NEVER stepped foot on a Foil Board, but had wanted to for over a year... So I seized the opportunity, and they took me through the program and had me Foil Surfing waves in just a couple hours! I'm officially HOOKED!

    I just got into foiling this year. Humbling and stoking all over again! Having fun in conditions that would normally not be conditions.

    Thanks for your help with our first purchase here in Michigan. Were only skiers and wakeboarders and not surfers and we were foiling the first time out. Your package recommendation was right on. I'm 63 and found sitting on my knees EASY and was doing it first time out. Standing is a bit harder for me but it's coming after 4th short session. MY son in law at 200 lbs is standing very well and will be ordering the WING next spring... as our season is about over here due to winter. R K in Grand Rapids, MI
    I have pics - where to send them?

    By far the best first foil attempt video I've seen!

    • @MoonshineBlack.
      @MoonshineBlack. 5 років тому

      Have you watched 1 foil video? This is probably one of the worst. The boards are the wrong size and they are missing waves that are best for foiling.

    • @brettbarley
      @brettbarley  5 років тому +5

      @@MoonshineBlack. that board was proper size for my first time foiling... the size of it made it easy to get up, and didn't require as much on my end to balance the foil. I now ride a 4'8" custom board that is super fun and WAY better than the one i learned on... honestly by my 3rd or 4th time doing it, that green board was too big and i was ready to move on.

    Sick man! Awesome to learn new stuff at our age. I'm a sailor and take my hobie cat out all the time in the same area as foiling kite guys. Ever since I saw one 4 yrs ago I've wanted to try it. Not sure I can afford another hobby though!

    Okay guys, I know how skateboard and snowboard, but I've always been hesitant about surfing and being swallowed by the big waves, and now you've proven small waves are rideable, too. Way cool!

      Wax, helps your fit grip the board. Without it you’d never stay on.

    If you think this is great, try efoil, best of both worlds. If you get tired just efoil, and if not switch to regular foil. Pricey but you'll never surf anything else again. Beach, lake, river, canal, anywhere

      @@ronkramer3476 Hi Ron. I think the best in the market is Lyft efoil. Manufactured in Puerto Rico. Awesomeness. But the cost runs to $12k which is very pricey. You can get a jet ski for that price.
      But what I have seen that's equally as good is the Waydoo one efoil. Smooth foiling, no noise, it's like floating on water no matter the waves, stillness, just great all around. But at $4,900. There are sales that show it less. Search for it, you'll see. It's awesome. Shipped from the U.S. I plan on buying one during va sale. Good luck.

    I’ve got 6 foil/Surf sessions under my belt with out any tow sessions and I’m probably comparable in skill level to Brett. Towing would have helped me out a ton.
    I’ve never had so much fun looking at less than marginal Surf and frothing to get out there.

      @wizzolf schaferhund I started on a 4'10" 33L board with a cloud ix S24 foil. Now I'm on a 4'5" 32L with Armstrong Foils and loving it. Still foil a lot more than I surf. Even picked up Wing Surfing, which is on another level...especially in the surf!

    What a trip such a blessing to witness the birth of such a tripy invention. Although I guess it's just a progressive application of existing technology...this is technology, right? Um...na I liked it better being amazed and trip out. This is really wierd invention: Proof positive that Atlantis exists, A gift from the Space Aliens on Liquid Planet 5.... Essential equipment for the inevitable rise in Sea Level? Let's ask Mr. Owl how many licks it takes to stick the Hydra foil.....?
    A one, A two, A three,. THREE!
