@@rmmm71709 Blockchain is an algorithm potentially useful beyond crypto-currencies. So far, none of those other applications have been materialized, I am afraid.
The major problem with this video, is the focus on economics. Blockchain Explained should be a computer science expert, *not* an economics expert. This video doesn't go ito how the blockchain works *at all* - only how it is applied.
Asbjørn Olling yeah well there’s more than just the technology. It has to be socialized so the economics side to it is just as important for understanding blockchain.
Since few people are affected by the economical effects id say that those are more important for the legitimization. If further explanation is needed, sure the technological aspects are important. Face it, only few people give a crap that electrons switch spheres between molecules so one can breathe🙈
That's what I was expecting. It was rather disappointing when neither of Level 3-5 were in the CS field. And to be honest, all three of the higher levels basically said the same exact thing.
A chain of digital signatures has been talked about since 2001. The revolutionary part about Bitcoin and blockchain is not the ledger or the chain of digital signatures, but its use of economics to encourage all the parties involved to grow the network by satisfying their greed. No trust required. The technology and economics behind blockchain are equally important if you want to truly understand it.
The economics aspect of it takes, at most, 3 minutes to explain. This very video shows that. The technology being around for years means nothing when it's only now popular.

In the 25 years that I've been a computer technician, the one thing that I have come to see as consistent is disappointment in how much goes wrong and isn't and won't ever be fixed. This refers to what she said at the end, and I think it is a fact rooted in the physics of the universe. We will always only do what is good enough, not what's good. It's like, companies are always a mess. Stuff that "should" be done is not getting done. They could hire more people and get those things done, but then that would reduce profits and the company was created to create profits. So, as long as those in charge think that things are going well enough to not just completely go out of business, it will always be a mess that's just good enough.
You are precisely incorrect in your example. Companies are motivated by profit in a free market. When successful they “should” and will do what they can to make more profit and remain competitive, so they are innovating and pushing standards higher. A better example would be a government agency. They are not profit driven and do not have competition. So, they will do just enough to not be overthrown or disbanded. This is why streets are often littered with potholes and a visit to the DMV is often such an unpleasant experience.

He's just good at assuming the persona of what people think an "expert" should sound like. The real expert stayed humble and quiet. The guy at the end is a poser. People get salty at females who know more than them.
Yeah, it's because this vid is mixing different concepts. The only thing you need to understand is, "blockchain is literally an electronic accounting ledger." Accountants use ledgers to record details of incoming payments and outgoing payments, whom those payments are between, and the amounts involved (i.e. by adding up all those inbound payments and subtracting all the outbound payments you can determine how much money a person currently holds - the entire history of payments is recorded. Blockchain IS fundamentally just a record of "OWNERSHIP", which could represent ownership of anything. The bitcoin blockchain represents ownership of bitcoin. Other blockchains are used to show ownership of other assets.
Because you need to read or watch something that actually explains it, instead of discussing issues around it. I recommend 3blue1brown's video about it.

Yeah, every video I watched follows a similar formula, where they spend far more time letting the expert talk as if the first few minutes were to prepare the viewer for it.
Two people can't honestly explain the same thing to each-other cause they both already know. I mean they should probably change the title of the video. I'm glad they went for an interesting conversation, given the time they had on-screen, rather than just verbally arm-wrestling.

Blockchain has some advantages, but it has a lot of bad sides also, especially where money is concerned. In short, it puts CONTROL in the hands of those that create and manage the blockchain. You are a complete fool if you think it's 100% decentralized, or if you think the federal government won't use force to GET control over it. The "Cloud" is another example of CONTROL. it's just the latest buzzword that means putting your data on somebody else's servers under their control. Control is a form of money and you should not be giving it away any more than handing out $20 bills to Microsoft even when you get nothing in return. Don't give up control, EVER. if something in your life is outside of your control, find a way to get it in your control.

For the newbie if you are actually trading in the crypto space and you don't have a sound mentor. Then you are certainly going to get liquidated in 90% of your trades. Yeah that's the sad truth. I remember when I just got into crypto back in 2019 but later in 2020 I ended up selling it because I have lost alot trading all by myself without a guide. Got back into crypto early in 2023 with $10k and I'm up with $128k in a short period of time.

one_who_knocks that's the running joke of this series, people have always realised at the expert level, they let the other do most of the talking. The more advanced, the less talking they do
Yeah, every video I watched follows a similar formula, where they spend far more time letting the expert talk as if the first few minutes were to prepare the viewer for it.
That's why they're experts
Two people can't honestly explain the same thing to each-other cause they both already know. I mean they should probably change the title of the video. I'm glad they went for an interesting conversation, given the time they had on-screen, rather than just verbally arm-wrestling.

Flan Chocoflan and being spy on by the nsa.
