I loved Iceland. I lived there in 1967-68. I went through 5th and 6th grade at Keflavik Naval Station. It was our best overseas experience. I remember the mud pots, the geysers and the hot springs. No where in all the world are the Waterfalls as beautiful. We climbed an "Inactive Volcano" that actually blew a year or so after we left. Our car was so old that it didn't have a real floor in the back where the 3 of us kids sat. It had a board to cover the holes. One of the most memorable places we saw was Whale Bay. It was an active whaling station we were there. We got to watch them cut up the blubber from the whale. The water ran red with blood and the seagulls dove into the water to catch the excess. At night when the Aroura Borealis was visible I'd take a blanket outside lay it on the snow. Play the radio and watch the lights dance to the music. Sweet memories. (Except for the smell of the fish drying racks). We lived next to a pumas field and I often walked through there to get pieces big enough to carve. My Mom had those for years, but my nephews didn't understand their importance and played with them till they broke. I hope you loved your visit as much as I did.
One day your children will tell their children about this time in their lives. I’ve met many adults who as children traveled also. I’ve noticed them all to be much more intelligent, and confident. May you cont. to love your beautiful journey.
Baked goods coma!! Radiant heat is the best, most efficient. Awww. jet lag nap time. That view is breathtaking! Thank you for taking us along on this beautiful journey. - Jim & Michelle
I lived in Iceland in the 80's. My dad ran the NATO Base's radio and tv station. Best place to live ever! Soooo beautiful and the people are just awesome!
I lived in Iceland in the 80's, yes I was stationed there as a Navy Officer. I loved it, so different and stunning. It has definitely become a tourist destination, back in my day very few tourists came there. You still have a ton of things to show us...
When I lived there, one of the main foods was Lamb. I hate lamb. But unless I was on base, I got a lamb-burger instead of a hamburger or a lamb dog instead of a hot dog. In the '60s only the main road to Reykjavik was paved everything else was dirt rocky roads. And yes, we often had to drive through the streams. I hope you got to see the different birds around the island. The Artic turns and the Puffins. If you went to the coast, the sand is black. Thank you so much for the memories.
That's so amazing you lived there! Seems to be a few here who were stationed there. It's truly been a dream come true and there's so much more to come!
Hello there beautiful family. Wow what a beautiful place so gorgeous. Thanks for another awesome video. an taking us along with you everywhere you go we appreciate. Have fun enjoy your time together ❤ stay safe 💖❤ keep warm 😊
I like what you say instead of bucket list! Love the scenery, BEAUTIFUL, So much to see and RV travel, U See More! Didn't know u were from TN, I'm from Memphis and hoping to rent my first RV this coming Summer, can't wait! ♥️👍
Y'all had us at the pastry bar. And Marissa I love how you stayed back & took care of the kids 😉 Were you there during any of the eruptions ? Thank you for taking us along ~ Wanda (& Vinnie who will no longer do "cold" )
Oh my goodness Iceland is gorgeous! We've lived in a travel trailer for 6 years and I can't imagine adjusting to daily life in an RV in another country! We're currently working on our dream journey of 48 states in 48 weeks but Iceland may be the next stop after we've seen all the states!
Haha! I had the exact same issue finding my reverse gear in my Subaru when I first picked it up. I had to pull out the manual in a restaurant parking lot😆
When I was in high school back many decades ago we had a foreign exchange student in our class . He was from Reykjavík , Iceland and we also had anther foreign exchange student he was from Norway . Glad you made it safely flying to Iceland . I don't know if I remember how to drive a standard shift vehicle on the floor . It's been many , many years sce I last drove a standard shift car .
So glad to see you guys together again...I had no idea you all were going to Iceland. Our daughter ran a marathon there. Would like to RV there someday. 🇨🇦❣
Beautiful scenery guys. I would love to go there but I'm not sure I have enough years left in my life. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give the kids a hug for me.
Very cool.Looking forward to the next few videos , you guys always do a great job thank you ! , oh also at least you're still driving on the right side of the road 👍
Thank you Marissa and Nathan for taking me on this journey with you in Iceland. It looks very unique. How’s the bakery there? It looks like ours here in the states. How’s their food as well? If you have that in an up coming video you don’t have tell me now I like to be surprised in another video. Love you all. Glad you didn’t off road with the car didn’t want you to get stuck. Hope have more fun while there. Have a great week and weekend and see you soon! Safe travels.
It’s funny to see Cory from finding out someday in pants and shoes. Fun episode looks like you had a wonderful time. I enjoyed watching your adventures with your beautiful family. Sending you positive energy from Malibu California 🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼
This is awesome! We had a layover in Iceland on our way to Italy. Only there for an hour though! Would love to actually visit there. Love this video and I love the term “journey list”.
Hahahaaaaa standard shift dilemma. The SAME thing happened to us test driving a 6-speed 2017 Mustang. It was my husband's turn to drive her and 10 minutes later we couldn't figure out how to get her in reverse. Finally called the dealer and asked what the secret was. Yep, needed to lift the silver collar on the stick shift. I did buy the car and love driving a standard shift again.
Wooww! Wild footage. Great job! What was the tech piece you mentioned you rented for $10 per day? You said what it was called but not what it was for? Data device?

Yes there are, I can regulate the temperature but like to keep the temperature quite high in winter. I do open the window as well, not so much because of too much heat but for the fresh air.
We landed in keflavic in 1973 on our way back to the states from Germany. I was not impressed. Being used to a very green ecosystem, Iceland was barren and cold and dreary.
And #10 of things You might not know about Iceland… Single adults carry an app on their phone that lets them check to see if they are related to people before their dates proceed too far! 😳
THANK YOU, THANK YOU...for taking us with you.
We are so glad you're along for the ride!

Amazing!! You won't regret it!
Love Marissa staying back and taking care of the kids method.
We do try to take turns, as there's so much to explore!
Love the lyrics to the song (“let’s get happy before we get old”)
So good!!

Stay in the car - there's so much more to come!!
Iceland has been on our Journey List for awhile. Will you be sharing costs? That would be amazingly helpful!!
I can - what kind of cost break down are you looking for?

Thank you for coming along with us!
The radiator situation is the same in all Nordic countries. I'm in Sweden and have those as well. It is always warm inside.
It's so different, but it really did the trick!
That is really cool! We were stationed in Iceland for three years and would love to return! The prices there are outrageous!
Amazing to have that experience though and the memories
Loved this!! Thanks for sharing. ❤
You’re welcome! It was a truly incredible experience!

I drove my friend’s stick-shift in Tasmania, Australia, oddly I really enjoyed it until dusk when all the wallaby’s jumped into the road😬
Oh no!!!! That would be so crazy to experience, what memories!
When I was in the Navy stationed in Maine, we would volunteer to go to Iceland because it was warmer there than Maine!
Isn't that so crazy!!
Just went in June. I can't wait to go back!
Amazing!! Was the weather any warmer than we had in September?
Thanks for sharing

Oh my goodness! YES!!!! This is so exciting!!
Thanks for the great tour!
Just the beginning!! 😍
I had that with a car that I rented in Spain. Took me forever to figure it out. Good thing I had access to Google. LOL
Oh my goodness! Glad we weren't alone!
That was hilarious but beautiful
Glad you liked it! It was a great start to our adventure
You guys are doing what my husband has always wanted to do but not me to long of trip for me😮
I get it - it's a heck of a flight! But it's oh so worth it! Tell him to add it to his journey list and make it happen!
Are you renting an rv I’m very excited to see your journey
We are excited to do this same journey
Love from Canada
We are! We teased it in these videos, but the whole series coming will be so exciting!
Will you guys be doing a cost break down on your iceland trip?
Not a full breakdown, but we used points for the flights and that saved so much, especially flying 4 of us there.
Catch you guys later😊
Yes!!!
Wooww! Wild footage. Great job!
What was the tech piece you mentioned you rented for $10 per day? You said what it was called but not what it was for? Data device?
It was a Triwire (iceland.trawire.com). Highly recommend it!
You all devouring the pastry. Too funny.
It was worth every bite!!!
You saw a ptarmigan!
We did!!
We usually cut the pastry you ate into strips. It's called Vínarbrauð in Icelandic she probably just didn't know what to call it in English
Oh into strips would have been so smart 😂
Stick is a snap! Haha
haha - this was so different
i could not pronounced any of the words in Iceland either, don't feel bad. I did suspect that there was a lot of geothermal bodies of water.
That church is amazing, and how in the world till they get those pipes for that organ up there is a mystery to me, and many others.
That grocery store with the pig on it, first thing I thought of was Piggly Wiggly. They had a Piggly Wiggly Store in Mineral Wells, Texas where my mom's mom and my dad's parents lived for a long time. His parents moved there when he was in 3rd grade, and my mom her mom moved there (Mineral Wells) when she was in 8th grade. My parents met in high school and got married in a church in Mineral Wells. We visited Mineral Wells, Texas many times growing up, as our cousins, Dad's sister's kids, visited with my grandparents with us. Our grocery stores can take a lesson by widening the aisles a bit more, and stop putting stuff in the aisles, not enough room.
When you rent a vehicle in Europe, it will most likely be a manual shift, and I am sure other countries have mostly manual shift cars. I have not driven one in years, and I have not missed it. I had a stick shift more than once, two different vehicles, and I was not fond of driving one.
Iceland is a pretty interesting place as I can see from your video. Thank you for taking us along on your trip to Iceland.
Thank you so much for coming along - and there's so much more to share!
Well you two, your are not in Tennessee anymore, so click your heels when you want to come home (LOL).🤣
heehee we definitely weren't!! Such a great time on those early days.
Would love to know what month you went!!

What dates where you there I am trying to figure out best time to go

Thank you!! We never know when those who follow us enjoy when we leave America, but this one will still have an RV! 😊
I really wish I could get my wife to love travel and life as much as yall
Just keep leaving some breadcrumbs, some take longer than others to come around to travel.
What time of year was this filmed?
This September :)
Did the supermarket have aisles or owls? (Yes, Marissa isn’t the only one with an accent).
haha! Glad I'm not alone!
maybe there was thermostats on the radiators that could have been turned down
Oh maybe!!
Yes there are, I can regulate the temperature but like to keep the temperature quite high in winter. I do open the window as well, not so much because of too much heat but for the fresh air.
How much was your Iceland trip?
I think we'll go over some of the details, in the future, but I don't think we have exacts to break down.
Taste the rainbow lol.
😂😂😂 Skittles! 😂😂
Don’t worry about the kids. They acclimate without your knowing it.
They really did amazing this trip!
I member Humpty Dumpty.
😂😊
What shoes did you get JJ?
He wore Merrell Waterproof shoes. Waterproof shoes are key!
We landed in keflavic in 1973 on our way back to the states from Germany. I was not impressed.
Being used to a very green ecosystem, Iceland was barren and cold and dreary.
Oh interesting! Did you get a chance to explore around?
@LessJunkMoreJourney
No.
I love watching your life but I have to say, you guys need to eat healthier. Haha!
Heehee - this bakery was definitely a treat! and worth every bite!
And #10 of things You might not know about Iceland… Single adults carry an app on their phone that lets them check to see if they are related to people before their dates proceed too far! 😳
Oh. My. Goodness!!!
Icelandic is really hard to pronounce, an ordeal. Just put the word on the screen it's enough.
I think we might have too, as it was a struggle!
