When a friend of mine wanted me to help him sell what was left of his collection, this was a toy that was about 80% complete. He was wanting to try to collect the jets in the future. I decided to pick this jet to restore and complete for him as a surprise. We still haven't been able to get together for me to give it to him. I had a lot of fun using as much of his original toy to clean up and take apart and put back together. I only spent about 40 bucks to get replacements for what the toy needed to be complete. As far as the labels, I definitely got repro stickers because they looked much better. The rails the canopy slides on are the worst part of the toy. His jet has the smaller pull mechanism for the jets to come out.
This is my favorite GI Joe aircraft design. It doesn't look dated, even today! I forked out the dough to get me two of these babies loose & complete. Both of mine have the sliding landing gear mechanism. This is also the reason I had to get that FSS club figure.
Great review! I got the Phantom for Christmas and I loved the color and all the aesthetics of the vehicle. But at the end, the Phantom was too big, so I probably played more with the Conquest (more maneuverable and better armed XD) and my Phantom spent most of the time in his base.
This vehicle has grown on me over time. As a kid I was crushed when I saw the real stealth fighter and it looked nothing like the toy. But since then stealth designs are making the Phantom look more reasonable. Now it’s a must have for me.
Well this look for a stealth aircraft was leaked on purpose to confuse the Soviets and to make them set up countermeasures for something that didn't exist hoping they'd waste money and limit any chance of countering the real aircraft.
Thanks for the (re-?) review! I found a great deal recently on a lot that had a phantom and a storm eagle, and decided to grab it. Very happy I did. As a kid this didn't interest me because of its limited weapons making it feel like just a spy plane. I was happy with my conquest and sky striker. But now since I don't actually play with then, I see it as a great display piece on my Flagg. Also picked up an FSS ghostrider to go with it since I'm a modern figure collector. I hope you do a review on the mauler soon. that's a vehicle I've always wanted, but haven't ever been able to hold one in my hands.
Very good review. Ghost Rider's file card sounds similar to Zandar as far as his personality on "not to be noticed". It sounds like one of them made the right choice, yet both trained and honed that quality very well.
Another amazing review Commander. I like to details on the jet and love the Red Baron Scarf on Ghost Rider. Just an amazing feature. Thanks for the review Commander!
I know it's been a year since this video was posted, but I will add my info anyway. My grandpa worked on Project Have Blue for Honeywell and Lockheed Martin. he worked with radios and avionics and the like. there absolutely was an X-19 prototype, I asked him about it once and he said he couldn't talk about it, but the little model I had of one (from testors) was sort-of, kind-of what it may possibly might have looked like. when I showed him the Phantom X-19 he said it looked like *the* Frisbee. caught himself, wouldn't say more. the nickname for the stealth fighter, as in the actual air superiority fighter, not the F-117 nighthawk that is meant for ground attack, was "the frisbee", due to it's rounded shape. take my tale with however much salt you wish, I am just some dude on the internet.... but I have reason to believe that my grandfather, an elderly old gentleman, was 'cleaned up' for his knowledge of the classified, as people don't get up, clean themselves off, and get back in bed after falling in the kitchen at 2 am and hitting their head so hard that they bruise their brain and have a massive hemorrhaging coma inducing brain bleed, which is exactly what happened to him in January of 2020.
Anyone interested in the real story of the REAL F-19, you can find a video here on youtube with JOHN LEAR (LEAR JET FAMILY) reading from the MEMOIRS of BEN RICH (LOCKHEED SKUNKWORKS) when Ben Rich wrote the F-19 WAS INFACT a REAL aircraft. It was built along side the F-117 NIGHTHAWK as a NAVY VARIANT and shared allot of the parts to keep costs down. LOOK UP JOHN LEAR F-19 and you can find the video.

Hills?! i LOVED that place. they were huge here in pittsburgh when i was a kid
I’ll never forget getting my Rattler. Great memories of a more simplistic era.
My brother's friend had this when I was a kid. I was so jealous.

Wait.. this video came out a few months ago.right?
I only remember seeing this at warehouse stores like sams club or pace. It never appealed to me as a kid though.
Ghost Rider in the Sky ... Everybody Sing- a -Long .
They went all out on this one.
I got this one Christmas. I loved it!
Omg. I got this plane as a kid 😍😍😍

I don't remember my Ghost Rider coming with a red scarf? Not a big deal. Still my favorite Joe aircraft.
The last really great GI Joe airplane.
Love that aircraft!

I dig it, though I don't own it... it has been difficult to find one complete, but I do have ghostrider, and he is a great figure... 😊
💚
Which Joe vehicle has the most Cobra kill stickers?
Hey that’s ol’ what’s his name!!
I hope you are okay brother. That ended abruptly.
The Night Raven is my 2nd best plane. It reminds me of FireFox with Clint Eastwood. SkyStriker is #1. Cheers🍺🍺😎🎸
Based on the SR-71 blackbird. Firefox was most likely based on it as well.
Would Ghostriders hero be Zandar as people forget him without him even trying?
Here’s hoping you find the other phantom X-19 with the alternate landing actuator. 😐
my X 19 had the other landing gear
mecinism
😎👍
Phanton!
nice
The video on youtube is entitled JOHN LEAR ABOUT THE LOCKHEED F-19 STEALTH FIGHTER
Looks more like a bomber or attack aircraft.
Sort of like the real F-117, it should have been A-117 or B-117 but due to various factors , it was designates as F-117.
planes don't need wings

I want one but it's way too overpriced on ebay. Sad face.
