That's because even if their microing ability is much lower and they usually engage in worse trades, they can do some "unexpected" moves like this PF at 40:48, that AIs can't. And these tend to sum up to be very annoying the more the game goes on.
what an amazing game! i thought you were dead when the bcs, libs, tanks, and marines seiged up and you only had a few units trickling in. beautiful unit control and decision making. glad i picked this video to watch :)
I have a tip if you dont have rapid fire setup on something. If your unit isnt doing anything at the moment, you can hold shift and just click with the ability a bunch of times. Its way faster than selecting, casting, selecting, casting.
Maybe too micro intensive but if the BC's were teleported one at a time into the spores they would die quicker and not split the spores fire as much. Also was a little paintfull later in the game when Marc forgot where the spores were and was teleporting them onto his tech buildings haha.
xd i love how during intense gameplay he took the time to think and say "now I'm going to change all the terrans' colors - I'm going to be a BEAUTIFUL orange"

@@Dohyden2 if you're ever involved in another one I think the key strategy in a 1v4 is for 2 players to go full macro and speedrun the late game units like BC's, Carriers etc and then another 2 players to proxy and cheese the hell out of him, he needs to be held back early for as long as possible to slow him down from expanding.
@@davecolwell725 Not a very honorable thing to do though is it. 4 VS 1 is already a huge advantage. but if you are doing it already, why 2 people proxy rushing. Why not 4? Silver or not I do not see any feasible way to defend a 4 man proxy rush. Glad no one is doing it tbh it would be very anticlimactic and impossible to win for a solo player. I think the moment people start doing it the rule of "worker rush forbidden" would be extended to "no proxies as well". Numbers do not lie it would be impossible to defend that.
Absolutely phenomenal gameplay, Marc. I'm wondering, why don't you (immediately) go for upgrades? Toward the end you mentioned that the corrupters were having a lot of trouble getting enough firepower. Also, this game was a masterclass in Zerg spellcasting, well done! Your use of neural parasite, teleport, and spores was inspired. What a strategy, denying so much heavy ordnance with spellcasters. Truly exciting. Great work!
Afaik neglecting the upgrades is a Marc-specific style of playing these challenges, that many other high level players would not agree with. The idea is that upgrades cost a lot and they don't help you immediately, so every time you go for upgrades, you increase the chances of losing in the next minute or two. Marc didn't have a massive bank of resources at any point in this game, and every time he would save some up, a big fight was immediately taking place and he needed all of it to remax asap. The fights were very often really close, and any of them could have possibly been a loss if too much minerals was spent on upgrades. But obviously upgrades are the better long term investment and other players on Marc's level would likely try harder to squeeze them in.
@@diosealorwh Thank you for weighing in. Yes, I imagine this frugality is really important, especially if you intend to stay in and win the "short game." Unit density and diversity over strength and power, I get it. I mean, heck, I have watched him completely destroy his opponents for months with this strategy, even in the long game. Still, I can't help but think of how devastating Marc's gameplay would be if he immediately went for all upgrades. He is already playing at such a high level that defeating him might become near to impossible.
SOO good.. the only thing that I noticed that might have been better, although it would have cost you some API (but them as well) is after you took control of half his BCs, would be to teleport them to your spores 1 at a time, maybe 2 second apart or something. No matter, I can't believe you pulled that off... amazing job.
