When sanitation does sand that street and run a sweeper you best be gone dust everywhere. A truck flipped over on the van wyck years ago, I smelled the doiesel leaking. So as i called it in i said there was a disel spill. All of fort totten special units and hazmat came backwards to the accident scene on the northbound side. Two heavy wreckers slid it out from under the railroad, and then started to right the truck for a tow. 3 cars and one truck involved. Collegues of mine saved the driver in the truck as it landed on the driver side. then santiation took over and once traffic was let back on dust everywhere!

I work in a county road dept. FDNY or NYPD needs to close that road down completely. Diesel is very damaging to road surfaces as well as to rubber tires from any car that drives in it. The road dept there needs to bring in a street sweeper and sweep that fuel up. That much diesel on the road I'm sure it caused damage to the surface.

Diesel usually has to be very hot to ignite
Why? Diesel doesn't give off fumes like gasoline does. Diesel is combustible, not flammable. Big difference. There is nothing on that road that is going to spontaneously catch it on fire, and even if it were to ignite it's pretty easy to put out.
