Very professional! Your list of tools to purchase from Amazon is an added bonus to your step-by-step instruction guide. I have watched many videos on how to fix different things, but this one is the best I have seen. You not only showed step by step on how to remove the valve cover but also how to replace as well. Many thanks, I saved my daughter $1400.00 by not going to the BMW dealership. I found a URO brand valve cover "which is a recommended brand to use" from Amazon for 179.00, ten hours later from start to finish, and the job is complete. I could not have done it without your help. Thanks again, and may God bless you!
Thank you! I am glad it worked for you. Reviews like yours keep me going. And I do think that BMW makes it too hard to maintain their cars and their maintenance costs are outrageous. Congrats on saving $1400.
This video was very useful. It save me $2000 from BMW. I was able to replaced my wife's Volve cover from her X1 2015 model with no issues although it took me two saturdays(Was waiting on the valve cover to come) The tools on the link was very accurate and without them I couldn't do the job. Thank you very much for putting this video together.
With your videos help I just did my wife’s valve cover in just under four hours in our parking lot keep making great repair videos very thorough ! Thank you kind sir
Just did this replacement cover thanks to you, Igor! Thank you so much for this awesome video. Everything went super smooth and most importantly, it saved me a TON of money. A1 sir!
I watched this video several times and bought the valve cover online. It took me 2 Saturday afternoons but I was successful! Thanks very much for this great step-by-step guide. No more oil leaking!
Great video, thank a lot, I couldnt find the ratchet for the vacuum pump removal but I used a 1/4 wrench intead, that was the hardest part, just need to be careful to not to drop the torx.
Great video! Just did my X1. Took me about 5 hours to do but would have taken much longer without Igor's help. Shame on BMW for making a plastic valve cover.
Very good video. I did the work myself and saved a ton of money. It killed me though that the whole time you were working on the car, those leaves were never cleaned off. 😆
Man, this video would have been awesome a few weeks back, before I paid $1k for this repair. I love this little X1 but repairs have stacked up. Awesome video though
Outstanding job. Looks like slow and steady is the way to go. I might get some paint pens to mark things….old guys can’t remember where it all goes sometimes. I’ve heard others say you have to rotate engine to BDC before installing HPFP? But it seems to go right back in for you. Thanks again for making such a great video.
Thank you Igor! I'm in the middle of this process right now on my 2014 e84 and it's difficult, but your video has been a great help! By the way, do you have any advice about detaching wiring clips without breaking them? I've really been struggling with pulling the clips with the small metal teeth off of the various mount points, even with a screwdriver and pliers. I've broken a few clip mounts in the process... You make it look so easy that I think I must be missing something.
I changed the valve cover gasket thinking that it would solve my oil leak that fell on top of the exhaust pipe and smelled a lot of oil. But that is not the case, the oil loss has decreased but it remains the same, I think I have to change the valve cover, they say it may be bent... Is this true? Thank you!
Hello, I have a 2014 X1 281i and the directions fit well. Thanks. I cranked it up on the 2nd try and it went well. The next day it took 15 cranks to start up and today it will not start at all. Any thoughts? Do I have to reset anything? Codes came up Valvetronic servomotor - short circuit or disconnection and mixture fuel-air control - too lean
Hello, i did it last weekend, and codes came up, fuel pressure too lean. i have all week trying to start properly but it runs very bad once it hardly start. And drive it is really weird, not enough power when try to accelerate. How did you fix your problem? thanks
@@DjCBlaq i'd say it would take me about 5-6 hours. Also, detaching the old valve cover after taking all the bolts out could take some time, I've had to apply a lot of force.

What took so long? This should be a 2 hour job man, you good?

Nicely done, you even got rid of all those old leaves !
That bothered me through the whole video. 😆
Love seeing a Master Technician at work. TY for the video!

did you have to replace the vaccum pump as well?
@@ComebackRunner I did not. Might not be a bad idea since it is already disassembled.
Great video, thank a lot, I couldnt find the ratchet for the vacuum pump removal but I used a 1/4 wrench intead, that was the hardest part, just need to be careful to not to drop the torx.
I used a torx key type wrench with a metal tube slipped on one end for better leverage. Still a pain, but it worked.

Haha yeah, I used the vacuum only after the filming was over. But this car just loves to attract the leaves and all sorts of other debris inside.
Just did this for my daughters car. Great video. Extremely helpful. Thanks
Thanks for your feedback, Maggie! I am glad I was able to help. BMW is making it harder for us to DYI their cars.
Man, this video would have been awesome a few weeks back, before I paid $1k for this repair. I love this little X1 but repairs have stacked up. Awesome video though
Thanks! Yes the car is so much fun to drive, but it does require maintenance and repairs like this all the time.
Bless you for this walk through 😂

Thanks Jon! I am not aware of requirement to rotate the engine. I used BMW service manual, haven’t seen such a requirement
I reccommend a silver sharpie or some neon nail polish to keep the injector and spark plug wires straight 😵
I used masking tape and a sharpie to mark the parts. Even so, I still forgot to plug some things back in.
Super great video.! I don’t know if I am brave enough to tackle that job. I would lose at least 6 bolts for sure.
That’s what the telescopic magnets are for :)
Very detailed professional tutorial.
Thank you!

I did it without taking off the wipers or wiper cowl. It's doable, but it was pretty hard to take the valve cover out and the vacuum pump out.
GREAT VIDEO THANKS !
Hi , did we have to use a gasket seal when putting back the new cover??
Hello, not recommended. I just lightly greased it with motor oil
@@IgorKadulenkov thanks for the amazing video
Igor, how many hours did it take you to replace the valve cover ?
Hi Eliseo, it took me about 6-8 hours, but I was filming everything, so it took a bit longer.
@@IgorKadulenkov how long do you think without filming ?

is the torque angle meter absolutely necessary?
The official BMW repair guide says that it is. But I have not quite figured out how to use it.
This kinda helps for an N55 too
I have the same vehicle. I had the work done of my car. Cost me three thousand dollars
wow!! nobody is going to be able to put all that back on right place!!
Great movie, but I have one question, your vacuum cleaner broke? Are you sure there is no leaf left in the engine? 😜
@@danielbukowski575 haha that is what I came here for I cant believe he didnt remove the dirt and debris before starting this job
