Been playing pistol weaver for the last 2 days and, at least in Open World content and Striker (or other instance content) it feels way better and dynamic than scepter, at least once u figure the rotation out. And the key to that is imo the Unravel utility skill as it allows u to always use the bullet spender that does more dmg and allows ur rotation to flow naturally without having to spam AAs. I admit it did feel underwhelming in pvp, but in pve seems more than viable to me, especially that I found scepter rotation kinda boring and simple and for me the whole point of playing Ele (or Weaver) is to have a challenge. Feels like people are frustrated cuz Ele got a cool gunner weapon, but it isn't braindead to use. Boohoo. The same is kinda happening in this video. It seems like the author is always using a random bullet generator and then a random bullet spender, which doesn't mean I'm criticizing or anything, it's a new and complex weapon so it makes sense. My guess is that it shines the most in pvp once a player memorizes and has the muscle memory to always use the correct bullet spender. For example, in the video, he was about to die in one duel and instead of using a bulley generation and spending sequence that would give him a shield, he used one that applied more bleeding on the enemy that was nowhere near close to dying. Again, I'm not criticising, just pointing out smth that happened, the weapon is hard, cuz these things are hard to follow during a dynamic pvp fight and can't just be a memorized rotation like in pve. With weaver they kinda messed up the tooltips. Some of them have mistakes, some spells do a different thing from what's written. It also doesn't say that dual attacks also generate bullets and that they spend 2 respective elemental bullets IF u have them. So surely there's room for improvement for that weapon, but I also managed to have a lot of fun with it.
I don't mind it not being braindead, it's just sad that every other class gets to do less and have greater rewards. This is a sentiment that has been echoed for years by ele mains and imo it's still true. I'm the last person you'll find to have an issue with ele being high risk high reward - the issue I have is that it's more like high risk medium reward, while other classes are generally medium risk high reward. I had fun with it too, but you could just take scepter and be ~25% more powerful. Btw I appreciate that you were very polite about it but remember that you are still criticizing hour #1 and 2 gameplay of me playing a completely new weapon I've never used before 😅 realistically, an extra 1.9k barrier is not going to save me if I'm already losing. The weapon is weak, let's just say it and not skirt around the fact, I've seen so much of "I am good so this weapon is good" rationalizing in this game over the years, let's just admit when something isn't performing well (regardless of the player). It's not very good, both of us could make it look good, but it's not very good.
you can play pistol on wvw only in heavy condi build like trailblazer set, fire earth classic signet build with catalyst obviously. i think even cele doesnt work, using any power stat is waste :D
It definitely works in WvW if you play it with a condi cele build, or just a condi build in general, but scepter outperforms it from what I can see. A good pistol ele in WvW can match an average scepter ele's condi/dmg output, but it won't be as much if you compare the two assuming the same competence.
yea it needs a bit of work, it's decent for condi builds but scepter is better at doing the same thing + is also good at power in addition to that. I'm on AR yes my good sir o7

Can't say I'm too happy with pistol. The weapon feels boring to use. I'm also never going to touch pistol weaver with a ten foot pole. The elemental bullet mechanic makes weaver so ridiculously and unnecessarily difficult to play that it's just not worth the effort to learn.
I'm only ever seeing 5 individual boons up - wtf man, apparently Warrior staff mains can max out 100% on every boon FOREVER!!!!!! Rookie numbers lol. ;)

My honest opinion of these new weapons is, They all seem to hit like wet noodles where as the older weapons hit like Rebar. Unless you're using Axe thief, In which case you hit like PvC pipe.

This is still the most braindead and stupidly effective build ele has, but run balthazar rune and speed relic with it. Cleansing+agility sigils (or cleansing+doom, your pick, I prefer agility). It *does* take some skill, believe it or not, since it's elementalist and there simply isn't a free win build on the entire class. So, it'll still take you a bit to adjust to. @SolemnGW2 I've decided that the best build for my room temperature IQ is celestial spector. That way I can get kills at least 1 out of 4 fights by just spamming my 3 button and maybe a few wells. I expect to be targeted for hate crimes soon.
