I wish more bands did something like this... just have a bunch of dudes hang out and reminisce about the early days. Also loved the Dark Tranquillity doc where the band visited their old rehearsal space. I'd like to see In Flames or Hammerfall doing this ... basically all the bands that made me fall in love with metal in the late 90s \m/

Didn't he leave, and...join a band with a vocalist that was...basically *a clone of Hansi?* I haven't done any more research than this, I do listen to Savage Circus and Blind Guardian both but whatever.
Thommen left because he wanted to play songs in the vein of old Blind Guardian. Songs that are more straightforward and featured less orchestration but the other guys said no so he left and formed another band
Ah, righto. That explains why they sound just like Blind Guardian. How they so effortlessly transitioned from power/thrash to power/prog is still impressive.
Wow, I hadn't seen this. Even though he's no longer in the band, it was great for me as a long-time fan to see Thomen there with the guys. They all seem very relaxed and cool with each other. I don't think that would be possible with most bands.
Bought all four vinyl re-issues and they are amazing!! The only thing I'm kind of sad about is the fact that the back cover artwork from "Tales from the Twilight World" is nowhere to be seen. I always loved the fact that on the back of the jewel case of that album you can see the dwarf from "Follow the Blind" with his sack of gold. Would have loved to see that artwork somewhere in the gatefold vinyl as well. Other than that though, all the vinyl re-issues are amazing!
All the basslines pre - Nightfall are awesome. I noticed the bass is tougher to find in the newer stuff, probably just because it's buried under layers of vocals and guitars. Maybe I'll try and listen again with my proper earbuds rather than in the car.

Thomen. Such an underrated drummer. Pretty much the German Dave Lombardo (along with Atomic Steif).
that's what I always thought, incredible drummer!
Damn straight!
Where can I buy the Collectors Box? It doesn't show on Nuclear Blast
Collector's box of what, the 2012 remixes of all the earlier albums? Or a newer one?

Thomen!!!!!! That’s dope that they still have a relationship
I read Blind Guardian: "Oh yes!" *click
*10s later
"That is not the teaser for the orchestra album which I am waiting for."
But still it's great!
Paulo Felicio of course!
gross orchestras are gay

Such a great interview!
I miss Thomen, what an underrated drummer
One of the best.
Hanzi's basslines on battalions are some of my favorite from Blind Guardian

I had so great fun to watch it ! I look forward to the next part !
"But, what I recall is that when we did the demos. There was one point where I recommended the Lord of the Rings to you" - Hansi
I love this! More!!!
Really enjoyable to listen to. Great stories and very cool to see the Camaraderie of the band.
Que viva Blind Guardián!!!
Blind Guardian has the best lyrics.
Hey, why did you cut out the full story behind the band name change?but anyhow great interview with the band of my youth!
This four guys are the REAL Blind Guardian ... rebuilt this line up, please ...
This "Color" guy (or however you spell it) sounds cool. Would have been good to hear him talk if he's still around.
I would so hang out with these guys.

The dude wearing the Friday the 13th shirt is awesome.
Awesome interview, danke schön!
He didn’t even want to be the singer as much as the bassist but here he is one of the best singers in the world
This is fucking dope
the 4 Horsemen together, again
Good fucking band

Thomen the Omen
I didn't think they talked to Stauch anymore.
Oh damn the guitar solo in Majesty sounds great, had no idea it was done that way.
