- This week, Becca and her dad, Nick continue with the van build and work on the Truma e4 install. This includes connecting up all the water pipes and fittings. Meaning... Becca now has running water! It was a bit of a head scratcher to get this all working but they managed after a day of back and forth.
They also begin work installing the Simploo Compost Toilet, which involves making a homemade wooden stand so it sits in the shower tray without moving, and they do this with some good old up-cycling.

Becca, I just found your videos a couple weeks ago and started watching the van build from the beginning. I’m in awe of you and your dad’s relationship. The fact that both your parents are so supportive of your dreams and help you so much is awe inspiring. Watching ya’ll work on your van together brought back great memories of my dad helping my husband and I build a deck onto our house when we were in our late 20’s. It was all the things that you were experiencing: triumph, fun, mistakes, working things out, just some really good memories. Thanks for that! And I know you are now on the road and I can’t wait to follow along on all your adventures.❤

Great job on the plumbing, my only advice would be to add John Guest 12mm Speedfit Shut Off Valves on the main output and before each utility on both the hot and cold feeds in case of leaks further down the line, then you can isolate individual points instead of losing all water around the van.

Love your attention the detail on the toilet base! We’ll done dad! We use similar water pumps in our work vans and always fit them with the pipes at the bottom ( pump upside down) otherwise you will keep getting airlocks, especially if you drive without the tank being full

Quick tip :When wrapping ptfe tape, hold the fitting in your left hand and wrap the tape away from you, so it will tighten when you put your fitting on and not loosen, great job though

Get a vertical accumulator with the air valve at the top. The horizontal ones are more prone to leak the pressurised air from the rubber bag inside

Sorry to have to pick on minor things seeing as your dad is way more intelligent and talented than me. But i do believe he was putting the PTFE tape on the thread in the wrong direction. It should be put on in the same direction as the screw turn. (In this case clockwise) If I'm wrong i apologise.
I believe you also would normally place it on the olive but with this installation there isn't an olive.

Do the one way drain valves stop you draining it down fully over winter? Should you park it up for a freezing period? A caravan has one but it’s one single one just by the inlet from outside. But before the drain down valve so any internal pipes can drain down and not risk freezing.

I was just thinking about you and your channel and up you pop! I'm actively searching for a motorhome as I'm tired of the rat race. Will have to be an older one though as the prices are scandalous.

Just something to be aware of is leaving water in the pipes in a warm van its can be a breeding ground for bacteria like legionnaires

Just recently finished building a van for my ex wife, bombs hidden everywhere (just joking), she’s a perfectionist so it was a bit of a nightmare but very satisfying doing the build.
