The windows were locked and not to be opened, but I had a key to the windows (from the tractor at home- honest) and it would open not only the window but call the elevator, open the control panel, and allow the elevator to be stopped on the other floors (e.g. 10 and 11). Floors were asbestos tile. There were two floor plans but not with bunkbeds and the beds were very low with foam matresses. WE HAD MAID SERVICE that would come in and change the sheets. I loved my years in Ajax 1903 and Babo 802
Wow this video was so helpful. My daughter is really excited about applying to Pitt. Plus she says she can't wait to join Pathfinders. IMHO the most beautiful and eloquent group of students I've ever met, and I'm a communications professor! She also thinks the guys in the video are super cute. Here's hoping she can meet one of you!!!! ;)
I stayed in the Tower Dorms between 1965-1970, they were pretty new then. A few had phone service in the room but most used the campus phone or the pay phones in the corridor. I had a black&white portable TV with rabbit ear antenna and got four channels. Women were allowed on the floor only during certain weekend events but your door had to remain open big enough to insert a book widthwise. This was interpreted to mean a matchbook. The wire closet shelves were not there, just a clothes pole.
What happened to the bolsters? (they turned the beds into couches in the daytime, plus provided some storage). I was there in 75-77 and eventually retired a low-grade millionaire, so it can be done. I imagine the rotary phone stuck on the wall is gone too.
Can the beds be lofted? And are you guys going to do a video on the new freshmen dorm? Im so excited to come here next year and i really want to stay in the new nordenburg hall.
"Each room mate has a window which can be opened to experience the wonderful Pittsburgh weather" I literally laughed out loud. :)

I think Tower. A has some singles. Can't wait till move-in day. Im in Tower B too.
Tower A and B are all doubles, no singles at all! Tower C has all singles, if you wanted to know. H2P!

Any differences between Tower A and B rooms? I'll be in Tower B.

There is no difference between Tower A and B, but Tower A has 19 floors, Tower B has 22--that's the only difference.
