Veridis Quo is pronounced Very Disco, and if you swap those two words it's Discovery.
DigitalMoonstone Do you think that's a statement on sampling itself? Rearranging and cutting something up to be unrecognizable without deep analysis?
DigitalMoonstone I always read the title of this track to be 'Verdis Quo'. I've loved this album for nearly 10 years and I never knew it was pronounced like that. Incredible.
Lol
Oh! That's so cool! Haha thank you!
In France they call it "Verlan". It is inversion of syllables in a word, and is common in slang and youth language.
So Discovery is very disco ))
For example a popular French band playing tango is called Gotan.
huge respect for liking Nightvision. the song doesn't get enough credit
Same man Nightvision is so incredibly relaxing
I was a fan since i was twelve. I got the DJ to play "One More Time" at homecoming my freshmen year. Without them, i wouldn't have been inspired to make music
Ohhh
Todd Skinner Dude that is so cool, best of luck with your music!
I'd love to have this album on vinyl, it got me into daft punk.
It's fantastic on vinyl.
Daft punk got me into vinyl
This came out when I was in 7th grade, my wife and I love this record, we listen to "something about us" all the time. My favorite album of all time 😎
Mine too
Jack Kastle Aww! Dude that is so sweet!! I love it! Haha!
keep up the good work, love the show.
Would like to see a part 2 for Daft Punk's Human After All album. It's pretty good.
Yes, Human After all is such a good album, I feel like out of there discography it's one of the more under rated albums
That One Voice Actor They went more industrial with that album, kinda made them die out for a bit until Tron and RAM
Waiting for their next installment in the music business. These guys never disappoint IMO
Tallica Tantrum Gotta wait a while then
Yeah, hopefully we get it before the decade runs out.
I first saw Daft Punk when I was 9 on Toonami by chance, and it completely changed my life, they were the first “band” I found on my own, and I got obsessed
Digital love's solo is wonderfully amazing. With the imagery behind it, it compels me into images of ultra colorized, mixture of things. Whatever happens to be in my mind at that moment
My favourite Daft Punk album by a long shot. Creative, engaging and fun listen start to finish.
Hi
KurVibes Yeah man, some of my favorites are on this album
gotta disagree with you on the sampling bit. Face To Face obviously contains multiple samples, even Todd Edwards (Co-producer) made a video displaying some of the samples
He said that, because of the information given on the back of the album. He couldn't know any better.
You know, Good and best music never have expired date :) I just 1 month ago started listen daft punk first time, and i fell love it. Its my favorite right now, and im produced my own music 8 years now and i definnely get inspired by these 2 robots :) sorry if my message was not clear but god bless :)
I like the silver helmet the most.
This is a quality analysis and conversation. Thank for making this. I'd love to see you discuss Suicide's 1977 self-titled album like this.
I got triggered when ya'll said "interstellar 5555" but your analysis was pretty good so I am now untriggered
ha, wow, that's totally my bad. I'm the worst when it comes to pronouncing words, so it makes sense I would get that wrong.
oh, hey Luke. yeah some of this was triggering to watch lol
IKR! I have to explain to some people that it's not "Interstellar"! Great movie, but darn it it's ruining this one!
My favorite song from Discovery is definitely Face to Face because what some people didn’t realize is that Daft Punk and another producer Todd Edwards who is a master at sampling, literally put together a hundreds of micro samples from songs from the 70s and 80s and turn them into a song collage! And it’s pretty unique way of music production.
Hearing clips of the music makes me wanna hit up the record store and pick this piece up. I forgot how groovy and slick the album sounds.
Trevor was a great guest too.
TheLeafySpring Yeah, they're stuff is so great! And thanks so much man, I appreciate it!
Multiple songs on that album have uncredited samples. All sampled songs are One More Time, Aerodynamic, Digital Love, HBFS, Crescendolls, Superheroes, High Life, and Face to Face. Seriously. If you hear the sampled songs you can definetely tell. Great album.
Digital Love, HBFS, Crescendolls, and Superheroes are all credited.
oh boy i live this channel
Gotta get a grip same
I love this kind of in depth analysis. Please do more of these
will do
Voodoo Child there's nothing in depth about this "wow i didnt know that" analysis
From what I can tell just from comparing the samples and the album's songs, Digital Love, Aerodynamic, Voyager, Veridis Quo, Short Circuit, some of Face to Face, and Too Long have re-recorded samples
Interstella 5555 is an awesome movie! I just finished watching it and it fittingly introduced me to Daft Punk's music. If you get around to it, let me know!
I think that there latest "Random Access Memories" is even better.
I wish you give it a listen and make a video about it.
I was 24 when Daft Punk came out....lol
My copy is made in France by MPO and there is a mild surface noise in the right channel on A & B sides. C & D sides are ok.
bummer
Are those Realistic Nova speakers? Love your videos man.
You HAVE to do an episode of this with a Gorillaz album!
Everyone be hating on Too Long
Fr tho, like is is not long enough? 😂
I just bought random access memories at Barnes and noble freakin awesome for $35 bucks. How much you think I can sell for?
the card are for download remixes from the website daftclub.com, more late daft punk release daft club CD and Vinyl, and the movie are interstella 5555, practically the movie and the record are one, sorry for my bad english XD
Face to Face is made up of at least 12 other songs from other artists (Electric Light Orchestra, Loggins and Messina, Alan Parsons, Dan Fogelberg etc.)
Good one ! :) +1 SUB
When will you review Technique by New Order
hopefully soon
Please review Random Access Memories!
Pfff. I've seen "One more time" and "Aerodynamic" when they first came out in late 2000 and early 2001. Back then I wanted to see how the story will go on but the movie was still in production.
4:16 *latin
not really my type of music, based on the song One More Time and the bits played in this video, but i might check it out. on an unrelated note, have you ever heard of an artist named Skylar Spence? he's not that well known, but his album Prom King is pretty good, and his song Fiona Coyne is IMO a modern masterpiece. his music has a kinda 80's, near disco-ey feel to it, which is a sound i don't usually like, but the album was pretty damn good
I don't know Skylar, I'll have to check him out, thanks for the suggestion
Cal FUTURE FUNK IS FOR PUSSIES!
FoksyHorse no music is "for pussies". some music just isn't made for you, you're not in the target demographic.
The album, to me, seems like a critique on the music industry. Its what makes it very intriguing for me, and the songs really add to the animation as well.
the guy on the left pisses me off
Bruce Lee wow thanks man haha 😂
Trevor Douglas You still a Daft Punk fan?
I think this album is completely dated, not the biggest fan to begin with but RAM blows the doors off this. I'll be still listening to RAM 20 yrs from now I doubt I could do the same with this.
