In the aftermath of the Fourth Succession War, the Davion/Steiner Alliance dealt a devastating blow to the Capellan Confederation, leaving First Prince Hanse Davion eager to replicate this success against the Draconis Combine.
Gunji-no-Kanrei Theodore Kurita, fully aware of the encroaching menace posed by the FedCom Alliance, has taken decisive action to fortify the Combine's defenses against an inevitable war. As tensions rise, a unique opportunity presents itself - to unite with the Draconis Combine and rally behind Kurita's audacious and unexpected plan.
Embark on an epic quest line as your mercenary company joins forces with the 5th Amphigean Light Assault Group. Together, you must defend the Draconis Combine against a massive invasion by the FedCom Alliance. Brace yourself for the largest handcrafted campaign yet, spanning 15 thrilling missions, and prove your mettle in the face of this formidable threat as you strive to safeguard the future of the Draconis Combine.
The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

I would take the engine out of your cicada and put it into the Assassin and build it. Sell the Cicada carcass and buy a cheap core for the urbie.
Yeah. I live Cicadas, but that's the worst variant. It's an instant strip and sell for me.
This.
@@trevorreniger5670yeah cicadas can be amazing, once built one with an XL and 6 MP laser 4s. It could core most mediums in a single burst and because modular armor in this game is kinda op it was as tanky as a 55t medium.
honestly this is a great idea cause yeah that cicada variant is hot trash and having 4 mis hardpoints could be a good SRM mech with good damage output
I am a fan of kitting out an urbie, they can have so much armor.
Honestly it's ridiculous how I dread urban mechs early game. Imo they should flat out lose their quirk and they'd still be strong.
Your mechs are what you make of them. Even a Flea can be a menace on the battlefield when refitted with weight reduction components and advanced weapons.
Any mech is good with the right pilot, hell, i was topping the damage charts in my locust while my lancemates were in wolverines and marauders
I wanted to thank you. I have not been able to play most of the MechWarrior/Battletech games even though I have play the table top since the 1990s. As such, I have followed your content for years and have been living vicariously through you. Luckily, I did discover the $15/month Xbox subscription that allows Mercs to be played on line and have been loving it!
Have you made any content that actually talks about your business, how you got this set up, and whether or not it’s worthwhile? I am at a cross roads right now and am trying to figure out my next moves. Of course, after all the time I’ve spent with you, reaching out was a natural source of inspiration.
Cicada with 6 medium lasers really carried my run.
Even when I had plenty of Shadowhawks, the pilot affinity combined with the sheer speed and efficient pin-point damage just made it the ideal player mech.
The pair of shield-arms are also great.
Who needs enemies to destroy the base when you got Baradul tearing it down 😂
You're off to a successful business. I like this game and your banter. You definitely have a voice for radio( a radio personality)
Good video Bara. I would say build both. The Urbie has pretty good armor for an early game 'mech and while I'm not sure in MW5, in MWO, the Assassin 21 is considered one of the better variants. Which one you build first, I would say whichever one can be repaired and refit first.
You can eventually do a lot with that assasssin’s hard points, once weight reduction items start rolling in. It’s a longer term investment than the urbie which would be immediately useful.
allied units follow team commands you order them not to fire so your allied forces will not fire too
u hit the J-Edgar so hard he just vanished into another dimension
There are 4 missile hard points on the Assassin, toss a lighter engine in it and set it as an early inferno brawler. Over heat the enemy and then smack em with those tiny hands. This will also allow you time to cool off.
I’ve just started a modded career and man is it tough to get out of the gate. The player-centric targeting by NPCs is ridiculous. Just keep swapping mechs to balance it out. Also some missions are far more difficult than their rating. Lastly, my starting missions were at least level 4 with nothing lower available. Hard but fun.
Is that the only way to deal with the focus on you? Or can you mod it? I'm struggling also and they just focus fire me 😂
@@tooheysnew11 sorry this is the only way other than hiding and lowering your damage profile. They will transition to whoever does the most damage. No mod as far as I know, but desperately needed.
"walk on up to the treasure to pick it up"
OH REALLY THANKS RYANA
YAML has that one urbie with 2srm6 2srm4 and an xl engine. mean little thing, and ai pilots do really well with it.
I vote for the urbie, urbies can usually hold up well into the medium mech stage of a run. In my modded run with the razalhague stage, I outfit the above one with hardened armor and it even held up in the heavy mech stage.
"Low level."
At :05 you pull off an amazing Jump maneuver.
Great job.
The Shadow Hawk is just such a reliable mech in this game. Had one early on, two lrm 5, two AC5 and youre solid.
once you get access to endo and xl engine, 3 ac2 3 lrm5 is such a workhorse.
OR you could put a Gauss on it, with JJ and lrm. nice poptart shooter.
Another great one is the Cicada, theres a variant that has 6 or 7 energy HP all in the torsos, can fit a large and rest mediums comfortably.
if you haven’t already, try pressing capslock, it will toggle counter rotation on, which will mean you no longer need to manually counteract torso rotation when you turn your legs
That takes a lot of getting used to and it's nothing like any of the other MechWarrior games that have been made. I tried it and went back to default pretty quick.
Everyone craps on the humble Cicada, but they're great back-stabbers and harassers if rebuilt. I recommend downgrading to 7/11 to up-armor and add jump jets without using XL engine for survivability. My favorite is to load up with medium lasers and chain fire over alpha-striking, but swapping for single PPC to snipe with can work well too. The goal is to stay moving. Lights and low-end mediums are not built to brawl.
32:50 Hi Baradul, the special high tier loots are specific to the Dragon's Gambit campaign. I think the urbie is better thanks to the armor/ac quirks.
From what I've experienced there's not super rare loot on all the maps now, it was just for the dragons gambit missions.
Started a playthrough on your mod lost with light changes because somemechs were doubled and some equipment was just too ridiculous.
My 2nd resource mission gave me a freeking battlemaster. Now I run 3 light mechs and an assault.
The red loot caches are only for the Dragon's Gambit missions.
Feeling good about the pace I'm taking with rasalhague yaml, already at episode 50! Great video as always!!
The Assassin can be ok, but Urbanmechs with their armor quirks and 360 degrees torso twist are a blast to play and can be very effective with a good build. A 4 Urbies lance can reliably complete missions way above its pay grade.
Ohhh! That I'm going to have to look out for that UM-P69 Suburban from the 8v8 dual. Comes with 4x Flamers and 2x Inferno SRM6s *plus* a Supercharger. Load that up with small lasers and SRM4s and you've got a great little mech. Time for me to start a new playthru and look for that "Suburban."
I would personally build the urbie just beacuse you can have a decent amount of firepower with a lot of armor
An Urbanmech with a 150 engine isn't that bad. despite losing tonnage for weapons. But, the Assassin is 10 tons heavier. I'm always a fan of slowing Cicadas and Assassins down to 6/9 with a little jump capacity. So I'd say keep the Assassin over the Urbanmech. But, can you afford and find engine?
The grind is real.
only in the dragons gambit , tier 5 weapons
I'd recommend to build both. Assassin is good missile platform and urbie is sturdy. Both are useful
I understand your concerns, but I run 3 big mechs a lot. Not preferred, but when I'd have to run something tiny that would be crushed anyway its not worth the rebuild.
Hey Baradul. Since you really enjoy the harder starts maybe next time you can do a no mech start. I just recently did this, on accident. I'm not sure the exact cause. I used the Advanced Career Start mod, everything standard except for the starting year I set to 2015, just to see what that was like. The game started me with only 3 million C-Bills and no mechs. There was a single Urbanmech I was able to afford, and only a few places I could jump to. It was really tough and a lot of strategy has to be used to accommodate for the speed and ammo. I'm sure there are other methods to achieve a similar start. The only drawback I've found is that due to the year a lot of lost tech spawns since it's all old stuff. Not that it's easy to afford any of it. Just some food for thought if you want to do even more challenge run/starts. If you even see this.
29:58 I would have picked that beast SRM urbie 69, right there
You can use the Locust`s engine on the Urbie, And sell the Locust (too squishy). Urbie can have 2 ML plus machine guns (for you) or light/medium(?) rifle (for the AI). The assassin can be the next in line to be repaired or sold if you find something better.
I find the base defense missions odd, logically. Your clients want you to keep the base intact, but most of the time by the end I'm looking at a base with 2/3's of its structures little more than smoldering ruins and in the real world would be considered a strategic loss. In MW5, though, it's like, "Yay! You successfully defended the base here's your money kthanksbye!" even if all that's left is a couple of maintenance shacks and part of an outer defense wall. "Uhh, what base? Enemies could come in and finish the place off in ten seconds after I leave!" "Nah, we're good fam!"
pick every Spider you can, they sell for half a mill to over a mill each. I once started a game and pulled two Spiders for my starting lance, sold them both and bought an Enforcer with money left over lol.
Build and love and care for the Urbie; it's a classic😆
The Assassin probably has lower armour than the Urbie. Yes, better weapons, but a glass cannon that will drain your funds on repairs every mission. I avoid Sins like the plague
I love the hero Cicada. The normal one in the game I don't find them to be good. At least the Locust is cheap and low upkeep to keep them.
He does have the worst cicada variant, which sucks. I usually love having a cicada in my lance early game, you just have to find a smaller engine core to slap in it.
If you ever find a MGCannon 2 or Gatlas Cannon, take it
You're running Clan Invasion mod, right? I can't wait to see you in quad mechs. I have never had so much fun in MW5 as I do in a speed demon 35t quad mech.
I loved the flyers too. Death from above
Id say sell the assassin and work on the urbi, the assassin is just bad that sticklegged thing wont help ya but having a sturdy little trashcan could do wonders.
Only thing I'd do differently... I don't field a mech without at least two medium lasers. Machine guns and flamers are fun, but they don't kill mechs fast enough
rebuild the urbie first, keep both it and the assassin. Cannibalize the cicada for its engine or sell it if you have to.
30:38 I think that Hellcat wasn't supposed to be there... 🤔
I think the Firestarter is Baraduls spirit animal.
Urban is a mem and iconic slow death , i prefer the urban except the assassin
I'd build the Assassin over the Urbie! It has better weapons options and would be a better dps mech with 2 med lasers and 2 SRM4s, some cooling, and a slightly smaller engine to give it some more armor.
i really hope you get to try the guass rifle on legs cause if you dont get it soon once you start getting better mechs your gonna go down that rabbit hole of only big mechs
IMO Build both and scrap the Cicada AND the Javelin. take out their bits and then sell the husks.
My life has been consumed by this game
Personaly, I would have gone LRM For the javelin + smaller engine so there is less damage but still dps due to the range
Id say build the assassin and the urbie, theyre better than the locust & cicada
Keep them, build them, i mean both.
Build the assassin. 4srm2 + 2ml. 200 engine with 5 jump jets. Will smoke all content until you can get xl+dhs+endo
suburbie had a supercharger o.O
Go for the Urbanmech; really want to see it in action..!!
the urby would be nice and tanky for a little while
Urbie, drop the assassin
urbie derby
i would like to know how a Goblin with a skill of 15 is a power spike in any way other then you have 1 more mechwarrior when you need 1
It has a max of 60, which means it will learn quick and quikly become a very good pilot, where is main pilots are still in the 15's
@@sebastianbarth1395 so what if cap is 60 its not like he would hit that cap in1 or 2 battles and a cap 30 and cap 60 take same xp per lvl
It would keep leveling up while his other pilots are just stuck at a low level, but I kind of agree with you, I would have just kept goblin.@@egeorge9561
Why not take a point or two of damage coverage? I would think early game, that'd be more important than some slight salvage rights. Cover the losses you can't afford to take early on with that damage coverage.
Ive been having issues with punching since I got DLC 5 where it just doesnt work then it does...
I have both a mouse and keyboard option for melee and both fail at times.
I have the same mods as you and the ebon jaguar is glitched and can't take damage. Just letting you know (:
There is a key combo that will insta kill them. I wish I could remember it but I used it when I ran into that bug many months ago
@@WayneWatson1 Well tell me if you remember what it was. It's just annoying having to abort the mission or going to the last save whenever I see one.
@@mk211x9 yep, came here to post that, finally found it in my post history on steam. Thanks
@@mk211x9alright I’ll try that. Thanks
Build the assassin
Putting an AC5 on that Urbie is a good idea for some air defense.
Hey, wäre es möglich das du mal ein video zu guten early game mechs machst? habe mir das spiel neu geholt und bin mir nie sicher was man behalten sollte oder nicht. (ich nutze auch die yet another mods)
wait MGs are viable against mechs?! i thought they were just for buildings. im such a noob hahaha
what about urby with a gauss?
Hi there, like ya vids."kind of" is another term then "ish".grüsse dich, lass ma zocken
Assassin isnt worth it with the negative wuirks. Just fix the urban
bit late, but there it is!
sell urbi build assasin
