This! It's easy to try to push yourselves but remember that the most efficient way to build muscle memory is during the rest period when you take a break. be that going to bed or even doing something else. Lets get this bread Mishima Bros.
One of my favourite drills is actually stepping jab into EWGF punish. The setup is: * Set opponent to block all * Set opponent to punish on block * Set the punish move to 10f jab Now every time the opponent blocks an attack from you, they will always respond with a 10f jab (the fastest move). At high level, this (and dick jabs) will mostly be used to jab check and interrupt strings in neutral. So it's actually quite useful to learn the timings to step and punish the fastest move in the game. The drill is simply: * Jab * Sidestep * EWGF If done correctly, you'll avoid the jab with sidestep and you'll hit EWGF if you're fast enough. Too fast and you get clipped by the jab, too slow and the EWGF gets blocked.
The turning point for me came when I realized that mashing the buttons as hard is I could had nothing to do with the success of doing the move. Once I changed that I was finally focused on what my hands were actually doing and I finally got a more than 70% execution in practice. I see now that this is more finesse and execution than anything.
There is a 3rd way of doing EWGF, which is skipping the neutral entirely and going for f, d, df+2. The trick of trying to press 2 at the same time as down input while your thumb swaps upwards for df input works well with this method, for faster inputs
Thank you lets go REINA ARMY. I have a leverless and can hit 2 electrics in a row about 90% rate, but 3 in a row is a little more tough for me since that's when I usually drop. I'm still practicing every day though so I'll utilize this guide
ok long story, sorry in advance. picked up tekken 8, first tekken/fighter ever. chose reina, got hardstuck fairly fast, couldn't seem to get better, tryed king and dragunov, made it up to shinryu, stuck there. was always intruiged by mishima's, mostly jin at this point (love devilster). your videos are pure gold, i love you. i will drill this with jin every day now until i can get clean electrics
I definitely struggle with punishing -15 with EWGF. I seem to do the other techniques with 70% efficiency but punishing with EWGF is like 20% successful for me
On Pad i found it easier if you do the inputs with one hand. I mapped 2 to L1 instead of Triangle & i can do EWGFs more consistently. Yet my Hand hurts faster after a certain time :D
Watched your guide a week ago and after drilling at least one hour a day with Kazuya im hitting that shit now, nephew! Thank you! Also, I want to say i switched to Jin to bs with during the drilling, and hitting EWGF with him felt easier and more natural. Went back to Kaz, and it helped me so much! Yall dont give up. This my first Tekken game ever and its really all about the training 🗣💯
for reina specifically, she has a crouch stance with 1+3. if you hit df it goes into a wind god step, allowing you to perform an electric (fist or thunder god kick) with only df +2/df+3 if your timing is right. the 1+3 stance also allows you to perform ALL while rising moves because it counts as a crouching state. i would highly suggest reina players to make use of that stance as your go to option for ducking moves (still make use of db for crouch blocking) since you have way more punish options out of that stance. for drills, i usually have characters perform high moves or strings that include highs to learn the timing of when i'm allowed to duck, then i try to punish with an electric. hopefully this helps!
When training block punishment, I have found it is very helpful to intentionally try to hit the block instead of getting the hit. I set the dummy to use -14 or 15 and aim to force them to block. As I get more comfortable doing that, I start scoring punishes without even trying to speed up. It works. I Repeat the mantra; hit the block, not the punish.
@@mrpotato7734 oh, I mean that when I am practicing, I aim to (instead of getting a hit in the punish window) take a few extra frames to make sure my execution is perfect, so the electric comes out cleanly, which results in the bot blocking the punish. I practice that for a while, and soon enough, I start getting the punish without trying to do it faster. I hope that makes more sense
These drills are really helpful, I was chaining 2 last night now I'm able to hit 4 but I did once tho hitting 3 was 3/4 tries, ty so much and yes my Mishima complex grows with every chain
Very important to note: you DON'T have to use Electrics with Reina as a baseline. Reina is arguably the least reliant on it aside from regular Jin. You can play and learn her regularly w/o needing to pick up EWGF right away. This is just a PSA so people don't get intimidated by the execution barrier for it; Reina has plenty strong of a toolkit already. Electrics just add a strong dimension to it. I recommend playing her and practicing it on the side until you're comfortable using it in real matches
I'm using a stick and I found out that pressing 2 right as my stick is released into neutral (since my finger needs some travel time to hit 2) is the sweet spot for electrics. Also, I found doing electrics from the p2 side much easier. Thought I'd drop this here for stick players
One drill I like to do is a long form consistency drill, especially when you're first starting as it helps you note your progress as even 1 EWGF can take time for a fresh beginner. Do 30 in a row and see how many attempts are electrics. Even if you feel like you're going nowhere in terms of getting 5 in a row, seeing yourself going from 2/30 to 6/30 feels amazing to see and saves people from giving up.
Nice drill. I’ll give them a shot thank you. Right now I’m doing wave dash>sidestep>electric, Kazuya 3,1 cancel into electric and 3,1 cancel>wave dash>electric
Great video again! One tip i want to share that raised my consistency of getting out electrics is setting L1/L2 to 2+3 the logic being it's easier to press 2 buttons at the same time with the same hand then trying to get them with 2 hands.
The man himself strikes again, not a wave dashing guide but close enough. Thanks for keeping my head straight cuz man jack and paul been making me hover that unistall button
@BigDaddyWes this is such a hard step for me man. Every time I lose and think "man I could've KILLED this guy if I was running my main" I get frustrated and want to give up

Does she have mist step too ??? On another note, can Devil Jin PEWGF ???
My advice is also to practice EWGF on Jin or DevilJin as they dont have PEWGF input. So you cant cheat one with Reina or Kazuya. And EWGF is kinda crucial to do from wave dashes and such. I have my PEWGF nailed down pretty easily but because i cant do reliay EWGF my use is kinda limited.
Thankyou for the tutorial really help me a lot as a keyboard player, when i do practice drill i realize i have a broken switch on my keyboard 😂, no wonder sometimes electric doesn't come out
I‘ll tattoo a QR code with that video link on my forearm if I ever go to practice, I can immediately start tracking my wavedashes and EWGF training regime
I've been playing since T6 and only am finally getting comfortable landing consistent electrics. working on my electric spam combos with devil jin because theyre funny and satisfying. my biggest struggle is wavedashing and wavedash electric. i can do sidestep and backstep electrics but wavedashing is my ultimate struggle rn.
You can also perform a PEWGF with f d df+2 as long as there is no neutral and down is followed by df+2 in 1 frame. I've hit pewgf combos with this on Reina
While possible, I think it's harder to do than f, n, df2 because it requires perfect frames in 2 inputs: * Just frame release of f * Just frame input of d And both these just frame events need to happen at the same moment.
When we have low success rate, doesnt we built muscle memory on the failure? Is there ways to actively ensuring your muscle memory remember the right thing?
Been practicing for 80 hours and I'm still terrible, although I have a decent success rate on pewgf but I cant wavedash quickly on left side at all even though that's supposed to be my "strong" side where my electrics are quicker and more consistent. On right side my wavedashes are fairly quick (at least to my standards) but I'm slower on electrics and consistency. @@MishimaComplexCame back after playing this video multiple times while labbing like a madman!! Did my first electric while my eyes was on your video. I hate learning both hwoarang and reina. Hwoarang has his JFSR, and reina/mishimas have their electirics. JFSR having no down input and electirics having the down input are both easy and difficult at the same time.
As a Reina player, is it important to learn the classic electric input or is learning her "mist step" electric (f, n df2 and skipping down) fine too? It's useful to learn the classic one for getting the dash electric and wavedash electric right. Also if you're always doing the "short" version, you won't have it available as a punish at longer distances. I do find the traditional electric way harder tho, playing on pad I'm having a lot of difficulty with the timing
In the -13 punish drills, I see the input says that you're holding forward for 3 frames. That means you're starting it before blockstun ends and releasing it after the stun ends, right? Is that on purpose (easier to do?) ?
i find the pewg to be alot easier, so would i be hindering myself if i choose to do pewg instead of normal ewgf for this drill? im a newbv so this may be a dumb question
I don't know why but in every match, 2 to 3 out of 10 electrics I get the d+2 on Reina while I can do perfectly fine with Kazuya... and it frustrates me to miss that punish because of her d+2.
Is there a visual distinction between doing EWGF and PEWGF? Like if I get the frame perfect forward one frame, neutral one frame, down forward +2 on the same frame, does it look different from a normal EWGF?
@@MishimaComplex Ahhhh well....I guess its got its epic difficulty reputation for more than one reason....🥲indeed. Since you are slamming out regular electrics the way I spam jabs, would you say learning the perfect for punishes is valuable in actual matches, or is it just a skill flex?

I don't know why but in every match, 2 to 3 out of 10 electrics I get the d+2 on Reina while I can do perfectly fine with Kazuya... and it frustrates me to miss that punish because of her d+2.

Is there a visual distinction between doing EWGF and PEWGF? Like if I get the frame perfect forward one frame, neutral one frame, down forward +2 on the same frame, does it look different from a normal EWGF?
Yeahh they look the same 🥲
@@MishimaComplex Ahhhh well....I guess its got its epic difficulty reputation for more than one reason....🥲indeed.
Since you are slamming out regular electrics the way I spam jabs, would you say learning the perfect for punishes is valuable in actual matches, or is it just a skill flex?
I've read that is's not possible to get consistent electrics with a pad and you need a hitbox with a stick for it. Is that true?
Nah can hit 6 electrics in a row about 90% of the time with xbox pad. with ps5 pad i struggle often so it depends
Is it practical to learn electrics using the two handed method for leverless controllers?
Ok I take back my other comment. Mishima complex makes sense
Anyone use keyboard ewgf block punishes? Mine are so slow its embarrassing.
Any tips for wave dashing on controller?
