Karloff kinda looks like a locust or a thorny cricket. Aside from cutting unnecessary cost in their budget due to the puny human resistance they encountered, I think the Precursors designed Karloff to test very fast, cheaper yet still effective units compared to the bulky and slow moving ones they sent prior and got nuked. If it worked then they would've had these mass produced, send a bunch of them all at once and spread them around to get the job done on Earth much more efficiently by also making the humans irradiate themselves. If, say, my theory was correct, then thank God and Brawler Yukon that plan didn't work out so well or we would have another post apocalyptic alien story instead of Pacific Rim

Even in 2 legs I doubt he is taller than godzilla. Close in height maybe but taller? No. You can get a great measure of him and gypsy at the end when gypsy hugs him. He is clearly not 181m when gypsy is only 79m.
You probably should have sized the figures more accurately. For some reason, some of the figures on the right look shorter than the figure to the left of them even though the label shows the hight being taller.
