Jinkx is a brilliant singer. And she has many additional talents - acting, comedy, writing, and advocacy. And she is so gorgeous- always . I’ve been blessed to see her perform live many times, including in her recent run in Little Shop. Her version of this song always makes me cry - I’m crying now having just watched it. The song is about longing for something simple, something that most people have. You know you are never going to have it, but that longing remains.
I *thought * if I listened to this with interruption I wouldn’t cry. Wrong. You can feel the wistful pain through that last “kids watch Howdy Doody” stanza and it gets me. 😢Every. Single. Time.
yep, I just saw her last month, and it was so worthy. She is so humble, talented and funny, I hope everyone who likes her gets a chance to see one of her shows ♡
My favourite show and my favourite queen! 💚 They performed their Chicago number in the live finale of the most recent series of Drag Race - it’s on UA-cam X
Jinkx is amazing all around but her Audrey was spectacular. I totally agree that (even though I've seen quite a few professional Audreys who were great!) Ellen Greene *is* Audrey. Jinkx is the only one who comes close to that indelible magic - she made the role her own with humor and heart. I have my fingers crossed that she'll play the role again.
I could swear Jinkx had also said somewhere this was early in the morning -- you can also hear the bit of voice fatigue from the likely 8 shows a week. She still powers through, but those belt parts I'm sure come a little easier later in the day!
She performed When You're Good to Mama during the Drag Race S15 finale. Maybe you could react to that next. She's just an overall great performer and above all, a great person ❤
Interesting that Jinx is playing it with self awareness and Ellen Green played it with deliberate self unawareness, and both versions work incredibly well.
Been with you since you started. Love ya! Have you ever considered watching the whole performance first and then going back with your insightful commentary? The stopping every few measures makes it hard to experience the whole performance. As you beautifully know, it’s the whole performance that matters. Thanks! ❤
Maybe check out Jinx' snatchgame performance on RuPauls drag race all stars where she did a parody of Judy Garland? It would be cool to hear an expert talk about how she compared.
Jinkx is so talented. I didn't realize it until I saw the documentary about her years ago. Drag Race does what it does well, of course, but it's kind of a shame to me that the formula is so strict. All the contestants are expected to be able to do improv comedy and standup comedy well, there's a lot of freedom in whether their outfits are campy or fantastical or gorgeous, but the acting always has to be terribly over the top and heightened to reach for camp comedy. It often falls flat for me, but more significantly, we miss out on talents like Jinkx who can *really* act and *really* sing because they have to conform to the formula. Many of the contestants on the show are drama school graduates. It would be so cool to see a spinoff season or series with serious acting challenges and other twists to the established formula so that contestants like Jinkx could demonstrate their talents and not just imitate John Waters movies.
Since first seeing Jinkx Monsoon on RPDR ssn 6 , I have been smitten by their Multi-Mega-Talented self . I am loving the variety of doors Jinkx cast their spell through , with grace and a pleasant humbleness. I am excited for the things Jinkx can do and the places they will go. #ItsMonsoonSeason #TeamJinkx
Jinkx has been my fav drag queen since I saw her first win on Ru Paul's Drag Race. Although I enjoyed her singing over the years, I never felt she was an outstanding singer...until now. I don't know if it is just maturity or a combo with the hormones she is now on, but her vocal quality has very much changed. There is a gentility and beauty I did not hear in it before.
Been tellin' people for years that Drag Race is churning out real talent. Maybe they'll finally believe me. I own Jinkx Monsoon music. A bit of old cabaret with a touch of the bawdy. The Inevitable Album.
Jinkx Monsoon is a professionally trained Broadway performer and working on this skill since 15 years old. So moving from chest to mix to false is nothing.
There is this whole other level of QUEER longing that you have not touched on in this review- Jinkx, a trans woman, wanting this perfect 1950s/60s image of heteronormativity with Seymour. Alan Menkin & Howard Ashman, both gay men who could not express their true desires, and who wrote the book and songs for this play.... We queers have this distinct longing to both adhere to these 'regular' expectations of life, but also to forge our own path towards love, acceptance and family structure on our own terms. Please remember this kind of QUEER history when you are reviewing songs like this one... It is a disservice not to give some context and I expect this service from you.
She's here to comment on vocals, not explore the story behind the lyrics or production. She never said any of that wasn't the case. The only disservice here is coming from you.
I enjoyed your reaction to Jinxx Monsoon. He's a fantastic performer. My suggestion for another Musical Monday is a performance of Alex Newell singing "Back to Before " from Ragtime. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/isOXnxiTE1k/v-deo.html
It's Monsoon season, and I'm drenched.
☔️☔️😭☔️☔️
Such a big couple years for Jinx. Drag Race, Doctor Who, Broadway, and now a 👍from honest vocal coach XD
Jinkx is so talented. We are blessed to have her.

I saw this a few weeks ago and Jinkx made me cry, I never cry! 🫣
Me too. I watch this when I need / want to cry.
Jinkx has seen it and shared it! 😁
Jinkx is a legend. Truly the most talented dragrace winner.
Jinkx acts the heck out of this and tells this story wonderfully! Thanks. Great reaction.
Went to New York to see her in this and I cried she was amazing and I adore her
Loved the positive vibes of this video. And Jinkx is just amazing 🎉
I *thought * if I listened to this with interruption I wouldn’t cry. Wrong. You can feel the wistful pain through that last “kids watch Howdy Doody” stanza and it gets me. 😢Every. Single. Time.
Yeah you can hear that tone going from happy to sad and distressed it was beautiful
I just adore her, I'm so excited to see her in august ♡♡

I've had the pleasure of watching Jinkx live twice.
She really is amazing.

Jinkx is just pure talent! So many feathers to her cap! Be interested to see more of her performances as well as other drag and queer artists 😊
Titus Burgess doing Ursula the Sea Witch in "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is also brilliant
Hello, Georgina! It's always nice to see you! 💐
She performed When You're Good to Mama during the Drag Race S15 finale. Maybe you could react to that next. She's just an overall great performer and above all, a great person ❤
I just love Jinkx! She's awesome! Jinkx did a song from Chicago for one of the Drag Race Finale's. It was superb!
This brought me so much joy! Thank you for sharing ❤
To be fair, the spirit of Judy Garland lives inside Jinkx Monsoon. 😆
Love Jinx and loved the haircut Georgina ❤
Thank you for bringing this to us! Got me too! 🥲
Jinxx ist my favorite queen and I also love the little shop of horrors - great match!
while nothing can come close to being as good as Ellen's this is super close and fantastic
Thanks for introducing me to this performance 👌🏼
I saw her perform live and it was magical.

Please do more drag music. Jinx is awesome! ❤ she was in Chicago as Mama.
Maybe check out Jinx' snatchgame performance on RuPauls drag race all stars where she did a parody of Judy Garland? It would be cool to hear an expert talk about how she compared.
Little Shop of Horrors is my favourite musical that I’ve ever performed in. Really enjoyed this version! X

Jinkx was on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 5, not 6, and she won it too!
Jinkx is super talented
Yessssss qweeeeen!
Jinx Monsoon is the peak of drag race.

Thank you for reacting to our beloved Jinkx. Definitely the best queen of RuPaul's Drag Race. No shade to other talented queens.
Amazing version of that song I'm a hugh jinx fan.
Suggestion Nina West, your timeless to me. Hairspray
I'm sorry, Georgina, i thought I was subscribed. I was wondering why i haven't seen your videos in a long time.
Jinkx! We're not worthy. 👐

@@andys0391 Nuance is lost on you, clearly.
I love this reaction!!! Are you fan of Jinkx? ❤
Is Charlie Puth play the keyboard?
Not my type of song. But I enjoy your reviews
So good what estrogen can do ❤❤❤ i love her voice 😊 much love from a trans person ❤
Roxxxy Who?

Brilliant song - but hardly a sweet song about domestic violence :-/
honestly it was kind of boring
Made me cry
