That's pretty cool, whenever you say, " I hope you learned something" all I can think of is how I realize just how large your knowledge base is. Not too much you do not have covered. The person you are is one thing. Pertaining to these machines, I wouldn't really want to ask anyone else. Other channels do not have the wide variety of things you repair. Then something like this, which is pretty amazing ... I'd like to see an update on the current state of the 4000 soon!
My last Amiga was an A4000/040 in an Elbox Power Tower conversion case with the larger daughter board. It was a nice setup and I had a fair amount of hardware in it--including a Picasso IV RTG board. Sadly I had to give it to someone to settle a debt and I miss it terribly. I was running 3.9 on it.
I always look forward to your Videos Chris 👍🏻 as always I’m learning off your content and it’s entertaining 😉 Have bought a few of those centuriontec back plates for my A1200’s and 600’s. They are quality items. A bit of advice on the 1200 backplate. You may struggle fitting this into an original 1200 case as 1)… They are thicker than the original under shield so fitting is really tight (Cue woman sound 😆) so screwing in the motherboard afterwards is a pig 🙄 They do really work well on the new A1200.net replacement case. 2).. The vga cut out is great, but again you will not be able to screw in the barrel nuts as the original rf cut out on the original case won’t allow for it without cutting out the side of the RF hole. Keep up the content 👍🏻 oh and your work space ain’t as bad a mine, trust me 😉
oh sure it does, mainly when i bang something into it, thats why i moved to the other finished side. this was lost footage. i will do another update shortly of the better side.
I really like that backplate.. i could do with something like that, but custom layout cos i've got a pi 4 and a keyrah (cringe I know.. but i bought the case/keyboard off ebay I didnt butcher a working a1200)
3 роки тому+1
awsome video!!! i have the same mess but all over the house and garage :P
Chris, Didn't Commodore cheat on the HD floppy drive by halving the disk speed on the 357 to read the HD disks. I do have 2 of them and they both work fine at the moment. Am I wrong in that thinking?
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration I thought the 354 and others like it ran at 300rpm but if what your saying is correct then all anyone would need to turn their 880k into a1760k would be to add the switch? I am confused about this now as I thought they were 2 completely different drives because of the speed.
They are the same circuitry and both drives run at 300 rom unless it detects the hd switch is release hence a hd disk is inserted then the motor runs at 150 same as a 357. But you need to find a OLD pc drive w a 3 pole switch. 99.990% have a 2 pole. Or sacrifice another 354 which dont kill hardware

10:05 - I for one really appreciate the editing! :)
Love your stuff; you say things I won't...
great vid! This vid reminded me I’ve been waiting too long to fix my sound problem in my A4000

We love it, Chris. Thanks!!
Cool to see your whole workshop. I love that you never put the drywall up to cover the insulation. I'm assuming that stuff doesn't shed.
Wait...it says lost footage, so maybe it was just in the middle of construction...

Yup exactly. 150rpm and a high density trigger depression switch. The 354 is the same drive minus the switch

Did you ever get the Video Toaster working?
Yes but it still funk out when it gets warm. I need to take a week and do a re cap and see if that helps
Chris can you source a cia for an A3000? I would pay for one. I killed my 3000 when i plugged in a decrepted tank mouse from ebay.
I will look in my parts bin and let you know
