Ep12 | Sailing thru Holland's Biggest Lake!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 вер 2024
- We sail inland 23nm (6hrs) from Vlieland Island through the Kornwerderzand Lock to get to the Ijsselmeer Lake - Holland's biggest lake. Summer is lingering and the skies are hazy and warm.
We anchor just outside of the lock on the Ijsselmeer Lake and head off for the next lock the day after which would take us to the Markermeer Lake. This legg of the sail would be 34nm (7hrs) in very light winds and yet another day of hazy sunshine.
The boys show that they are competent sailors in helping dock the boat and hoist up our parasailor for the first time. We were amazed at how large it was!
We reach our last anchorage just before sunset, ready to sail into Amsterdam - on our next episode.

Yeah, spinnakers are BEAUTIFUL!!!
Of all the sailing channels I’ve watched, you do the best job of using graphics, Google maps, etc., to show exactly where you are and what you’re doing - and you leave the maps up long enough to take in the information. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this comment😁✌️ I guess I do that cuz I'm often wondering where exactly other UA-camrs are located. I'm a detailed person... But, as I've proved, not always very quick to reply... Sorry 😏
And that's all!?!?!? TWELVE videos in TWO years! Come on, Liv! You have some scenes in the intro that you haven't shown yet! Not fair!!! You are such a great family and so much fun. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE go on with these videos and keep us updated, even 2 years later. 🙂Finally an interesting sailing family!!! I'll be waiting!
Thank you so much for your genuine support! So nice to hear of your interest. It was not familiar or easy to know how to go about making videos in the beginning and I didn't want to spend so much time on the trip making videos - or learning how to make UA-cam videos, so I only dabbled in it in the beginning. But, I am still motivated to keep it going. The transition coming home & getting settled along with starting a new teaching job took up all my concentration, so, yes- it has been a slow progression of video-making. But, don't worry- i haven't given up(although some of my followers probably have 👀😬)... My goal is 2-4 a month 🙏 We have so ooo much more(more exciting adventures) to share. And, It only gets better from here 😁
@@SailingELANE 2-4 a month, I can live with that. 🙂 It's going to be even more interesting. It's like a good book you re-read. You KNOW how it ends but it's still so good. 🙂 Btw, what was more fun, homeschooling your own sons or teaching other kids? 🙂
The thing is, there are lots of sailing channels. And they are all pretty much the same - we come to Aruba, we swim with dolphins, don't throw plastic in the sea, bye. And that's it. Your family is absolutely unique in that company and ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! :-))) And your kids are amazing!!! And you are SUCH an amazing contrast with Elvind. In my family, it's the other way round, I'm crazy, my wife is calm and reasonable. :-))
Two years ago I had a major argument with an American sailing family and it was SO upsetting that I had to stop watching all sailing videos at all. But about a month ago youtube suddenly started giving me more and more of them. Not huge popular American channels with millions of subscribers but these WONDERFUL family travels. I recently "met" a Canadian family who travel on a VERY old 45-year-old small sailboat. And now it's you and your family. So I'd be absolutely devastated for it to end so soon.
Sorry, long post. Anyway, I will be EAGERLY waiting for more fun from you. Don't give up. And as you can see I will try to make sure your comments section is well stocked. :-))
@@Maloy7800 Awesome thanks!! And, wow- what an honor that you think so. 💙🙏 I thought of channel would just be drowned out by all those big-name sailing channels... Nice to hear- that gives me even MORE motivation😊 And, ha! Yes- the contrasts persist between me & Eivind and I make a little fun of it, but we make a good team 👌😎
20:17 Oh you poor boy! Put it on a windlass and press the button! 🙂
😅 It was a good workout - and test of patience, tho 😉
@@SailingELANE They don't need any more workout! HAHAHAHA They look VERY well fit as they are. :-))))
last summer?
No, still working on blogging from the beginning - this is September 2020.
