Yep. It is not really music if not played by talented people on real instruments. I swear I can slam 3 doors that make a different sound, and somebody can make a hit out of it. "Not just any "noise" constitutes music." (Ayn Rand. The Romantic manifesto. A book about art.)
John Dowd raced his first MX race at the age of 20 in 1985. He raced pro from 1987 to 2013. Can that happen today, stating so late on his own dime, and becoming one of the best in the world? I don't know. I guess if the talent is there, it can happen again.
I can relate. I was at the 2007 round in the USA. Fantastic memorable time. Loved walking through the pits and small talking with teams from all over the world. 33 teams there that year I think.
I was there. The race was held in an old rock quarry It was a joke when they watered the track in the morning from the top of the quarry with water trucks. They would just open the water waste gate and let it run down the hill like a small tidal wave. It was a quagmire.
33:30 (Emig post race interview): That was a typical trick of the FIM among many, to water the track a lot in an effort to hinder team USA, (The 1986 production rule for the USA was not enough.). Finally, the FIM just took over the racing in the USA to finish us off.
@@LBrawn I know. Both of you make a good point (Brian above too). Everybody has to race the same track. Mud is part of the sport of course---when it actually rains. The fact is (that we are too shallow to recognize or not enough history known), the FIM has hated the USA talent since 1981, and have done all kinds of dirty tricks to stop them. That includes, watering the tracks, sending riders on wild goose chases like a track to warm up but then denied when showing up to practice, the 1986 production rule (a big one), for the USA only that stopped factory development in the USA. Yes, that rule came from the FIM, who is actually the boss of the AMA. I learned that during the 2001 promotion scandal, that allowed the FIM to come in and directly be a part of our racing organization, by teaming up with Clear Channel, (who lost the law suit to Jam Sports, that the AMA chose for live promotion for the first time when the Clear Channel contract expired. But that action was a fraud. The action was to let the FIM direct our racing, and build cookie cutter tracks to curb talent. That finally worked), for rigging the venues with "illegal no compete contracts" with them. Now, the FIM dictates by force, how 12 national tracks, all with private owners (are they really private owners now?), that all made their tracks similar, (and easy compared to Euro tracks today). Both our tracks are too damn fast because of the EPA dictatorship forced 4-stroke on the industry. So that is where we are in reality. You guys just got the best history lesson you ever had. You guys from Europe (nice to meet you)? How is the FIM doing over there? We will see the 15 rider gate move to the USA soon, and the MXGP's will be finished. I can see that----from the direction of history and the dominating philosophies we are living under. Wanna bet some money? Doug in Michigan (into the sport since 1976 on my own dime and raced for a decade 80's-90's)
"Now, the FIM dictates by force, how 12 national tracks, all with private owners (are they really private owners now?), that all made their tracks similar," (from above). If you know anything about statistics, (I aced 3 colleges courses, and you have to know math. Great tools for figuring out reality), you would know for 12 private tracks owners across the nation, to all make their tracks so similar, (and easy),---is impossible with out FORCE.
Yea, they did a lot of tricks like that, before the FIM took over our racing and dictated to track owners on how they have to build their tracks. Muddy Creek is gone and it was a good national track. Glen Helen won't do business with them either, (what kind of a business relationship is it with force involved?) I wonder if they told the FIM to pack sand?
On the other side today, Yelling weegee (jason weigant for NBC) give me a headache, especially with his "precieved knowlege". I see him more of a Dave Coombs propaganda pusher. Big mouth,---little brain.
Had this on tape when I was a kid and must of watched it a hundred times
You are not the only one haha!!
Moto vision always great guitar riffs

The comentator is the best comentator of all time 💯
Ru serious
What’s his name he sounds rhoadesian
He is great! No one to help him in the studio either. He's talking all the time, and making sense. Way to keep up the momentum.

This was motocross was all about in the day great races fans legends and rassmazztase fantastic days of glorious times mxgp errrrrrrrrrrr crap
2022 now, and counted 15 riders on a 40 rider main moto gate at a MXGP. The FIM needs some free market competition.
Dobb was a little bit "spikey" on his winning interview 😁 Great race track, good MXDN battles behind the run away leaders ✊

Oh, how unfair…..mud on a motocross track.
It wasn't like all the teams didn't have to race on it.

Watering 💦 like that we call dirty pole over here :)
They watered the track way too much to have an advantage over the US-boys. I have been there that day.
