plus the way she tells roxas that he’s “next”, this is honestly a pretty creepy scene
I wish they had explored the whole concept of her character more clearly. In the game, her face changes in the middle of cutscenes because she appears differently depending on how different characters see her.
To saix, he sees her as an object, a thing, so when a cutscene switches to his perspective, she'll have her hood hiding her face.
And axel only sees her actual face when he starts to get to know her through roxas.

I remember the line "who else will I have ice cream with" didn't strike me as that odd when I heard it in-game, but at some point it became something people dunked on? To me the absurdity of saying that to someone as they die in your arms adds to how tragic the whole situation is. When we want to tell someone how much they mean to us, it's common to point out all the things you want to do with them, like traveling or playing or watching movies. Roxas doesn't have goals to share with people or any greater ambition. From the moment he appeared to this scene, his only frame of reference for happiness has been eating ice cream with his friends after a long day of work, and he can't imagine anything else to live for. If this one small thing goes away, his entire world is gone.
yeah the intention behind this line was perfectly clear, i think the people who meme it are the ones whi only watched the movie in the HD port so they didn't have full context
@@ZeromusVX I very much remember people meming that line in forums back in 2009, it does make sense with context but its potentially a moment killer too since its not exactly the kind of thing you'd expect to hear in what's basically a very tragic "death" scene
This was the first and only kingdom hearts game I played. I had no idea what was going on half the time, but it left teenage me dead inside for a bit.
The same dude!! Thr first kh I played and the only thing I was remembering about KH saga was the poster of KH from a magazine with sora and disney characters so when this part came out I was like "What the hell it's going on here!?" LOL
Yeah, 358/2 Days was my first game too. Needless to say, I had a lot of catching up to do.

I’m not gonna lie, the first time I see Xion with Sora face, I was scared
I mean, it is kinda weird before any explanation :P

Considering my first KH game was 358/2 days, and I never looked for spoilers on the internet, seeing Xion with Sora's face for the first time was an enormous "holy shit" moment, as well as an "aha" moment, with a little bit of awestruck and reverence mixed in, knowing this was _the_ Sora.
Xion is the memories of Kairi that Sora had. That's why during the story at one point she could not use the keyblade. She is Sora's Memories... so she is Sora to an extent. That part of her could use the Keyblade. But she is also Kairi because she is who Sora remembers Kairi to be. So she could not use the keyblade because Kairi could not use one in Kingdom Hearts. When she started absorbing what was left of Roxas as a Puppet she became more and more like Sora. As told in Kingdom Hearts 2 Roxas was Sora's nobody and had Sora memories and Sora could not wake up unless Roxas gave back the memories Sora. Xion was taking the memories in 358/2 days and becoming more Sora then even Roxas. Having ALL the memories of Sora from inside Roxas. Which was making her stronger then Roxas and why she could always summon the keyblade after the time when she could not use it for a while.

Namine = Kairi's Nobody

358/2 days could really use a remake. It has a lot of potential, and could use some tweaking.
Ehh, I think it would need a lot of changes.
The story is great, but the gameplay of this game is awful
Just remastering the cutscenes was a smart move imo
NoobEditor69 _ they could’ve changed the gameplay to something like KH 2
Kami Killa agreed, they could also change the story mode from fully mission based to a hybrid, having most if not all the missions but with more stuff in between them to vary it up more. Perhaps even add a combo builder of sorts where you pick 3-4 attacks with different properties/elements and a finishing move (2 attacks then finished for air attacks). This would speed development greatly somewhat since no weapon needs an entire unique move set. Improved magic and good online play too pls. Perhaps even add new content like sunset heights from twilight town, secret bosses etc.

If you actually played the original on the DS, tediously going through every single day of roxas’s from being a zombie, to making friends, to the relationship with the organization. It hits like a truck when xion dies after all the damn side quests and casual missions and moments they had. Too bad the movie remake skips over a lot of character development between these two, even axel included 😭

I loved the limit idea in this game. You health gets to a certain amount of low and you can activate an ability where your character does a fury of attacks against the enemy(ies).

KH 358/2 days is the only game i played as a young adult. my parents were abusive and i just happened to steal a ds that had this game in. to this day roxas remains my spirit character. his turmoil his suffering him being alone and trying to fight for the friends he has. i relate to it all. this game single handedly saved me as a teenager

I was doing this boss fight and getting angry because I couldn't win. After a couple tries I reached the final phase and as I was almost killing her I felt good because I would finally win and beat the game! Then I remembered I was about to kill Xion and got really sad really fast.

Definitely, she didn't truly want to fight Roxas, but she had to force him to defeat her, otherwise he would cease to exist and Xemnas' plan would have worked. She had to sacrifice herself while making it look like she wanted to kill off Roxas. This game's story is so tragic and I love it
You know what i spent 2 days on this damn boss and I was raging. The game crashed so I have to stage all of the stages again to only get more portions, only use 4 out of like 20 and do the whole thing in less then 30 minutes.
But this is what /i am found out: If you know know exactly what you are doing, dodging and the timing then this isn't a hard boss at all.

@@introvertednerd0252 Reminder: Limit breaks are very effective but leaves you wide open for sufficient enemy combos and most game ending crits (i.e Dustflier).
@@gilitovenegas2339 That is so true because during my lv1 proud run i use it to only get one shotted lol if i get hit.... which is about 65% of the time lol.

Honestly the fact that she says ur name says so much. Like she knows what she's doing. She made up her mind and Roxas, either dies or defeats her (and he does) and forger every single thing about her but yet retaining the core memories that are just a little too far out of reach, man this game hits, tears till this day, "who else am I supposed to eat icecream with!" He remembered it all there even just for a moment. He felt the absolute pain of waiting a close friend die right in his arms, in front of his face, just....wow..... that no will never not give me goose bumps. So there I was, a sixteen year old kid who had only ever been able to play the kingdom hearts games at his friends house because they had a PS2. Then all of a sudden it was announced that a video game starring my favorite character Roxas was going to be coming to Nintendo DS!
I was literally so hyped.
This game meant everything to me and I have so many fond memories of getting lost in the world and loving these characters.
This scene of Xion dying actually made me sad to such a point that I still sob my eyes out to this day.
I didn’t understand that by getting this game I’d witness one of the most poignant moments of storytelling in my life.
The way that she touches Roxas’s face and whispers, “Never forget- that’s the truth.”
That’s something that even though it was devastating I’m so happy I experienced.
Anyways my long rant is over lol.

Here's an overview of Xion's arc in my fic (inspiration, "Drakengard" OST), told in the form of mission objectives:
Objective: The Wraith Mask accepts the offering which guides your Keyblade. End Xion's lunacy for altruism. Break through her armor, and force her to take your horrific power for herself.
Objective: Your best friend may have broken all plans, but he gave you a chance to live, and you can now feel him through the mutual hunger between yourself and your original self. Claim Kingdom Hearts and use its power to save both. Devour anyone who stands in your path.
Objective: Roxas and the Wraith Mask opened your eyes to the lunacy you were about to commit. Defeat the assassin you thought to hold all answers, and procceed to Kingdom Hearts and Xemnas.
Objective: The puppet no longer follows your advice, and your symbiotic mate steals your power. Return the favor. Accept the Outsider' gift. Draw from the Void and bend the walking black hole in front of you to your will. Save your best friend !
Objective: DiZ's borrowed time is at an end, but no enemy is truly defeated until their spirit is broken. Destroy his inner Sanctuary's inhabitants and quench the bloodlust that has filled yours.
Objective: Despite her crime, she was as justified as Riku. Aid her in battle. Show her she can crawl back from the pit once the fight is over.

Next thing I want is a remake of all of the "video only" games. This, recoded, and maybe throw in the original chain of memories. They're small enough that all three could fit on one disc.
One of the easier final bosses of the kh series especially since you could continue from the phase you died at. And the limit breaks are broken af. You can destroy the Kurt Zisa form of Xion with only 2 limit breaks. (Was using Omega Weapon +) the other forms are pretty easy but the final one only has some maybe deathly attacks. The one that pushes you to the middle and then the lasers. The one where there is deadly ground is a game ender for people who somehow didn’t put glide on their panels. But yeah pretty easy (I feel like I’ll get replies saying “Xion isn’t the final boss! You are wrong in every way possible!“ but what non final boss fight has 4 FORMS LIKE HOW-)

Honestly, I'm one of those sick people that liked the gameplay of Days. I prefer a much more linear approach to game design, I like having an objective with no distractions, no matter how repetitive. But I still prefer KHII's fast paced combat along with its idea of all possible approaches are much more viable approaches to combat than the 1st game. But chain of memories can die in a hole. Both versions. And those were my ramblings.
I really can't agree, the gameplay was barebones and had a lot of missions like the recon ones.
How are you doing that? That skill when Roxas says "You are finished." I never saw that in the game.
I didn’t think making Sora of all kingdom hearts characters creepy but here are. (yes I know that’s not sora.)

I loved this game to man!
I love the story and that feature where you can play every character but I do not like how repetitive the gameplay was. I began to love the game around day 290 which is pretty late.
This game was a godsend when it released, the structure may have been a bit grindy but as a teenager taking regular bus rides to school and road trips to wherever my parents wanted to visit, the amount of content available for a handheld feature-full 3D action game was incredible at the time. I still love this game to bits but I can see why people coming to it later might not "get it"

I beat this as a kid and i remember struggling so hard with it being 4 phases and no like free heal, first game in the franchise for me back then. Hated phase 3 xion fight. The tells always felt easy to miss and her combos could wipe your health. Comparatively, final form or giant xion was the easiest.

I think people look into that in the wrong way.
Eating ice cream for Roxas is one of the highest moments of his day, it is more than just the act of eating.
He shares those moments with his close friends and is the moment of his day that he is the happiest.
Think about the game. Roxas went through what amounted to his entire life waking up, clearing out heartless somewhere, and ending out the day with Xion and Axel over some sea salt ice cream. That was the highlight of his day. As long as that happened, everything was worth it. Those two meant everything to him *because* of the bond they developed over their shared downtime. The statement isnt so much about eating the ice cream, but the moment shared and the significance of it all
Don’t forget axel defined friends as someone who eats icecream together, and talks and laughs over random things. I haven’t got the exact wording memorised but yeah thats what roxas views friendship as so he was basically on about losing a friendship and not having any friends anymore. Or something along those lines.

@@austinjohnsen4430 most likely at least how i read the situation xion is partially reprogrammed to follow her original directive so there is a part of her that is being forced to finish becoming a completed sora puppet but even while being partially under control she has enough will power to reach out to roxas so that he can finish her off most likely her programing is forcing her to act on the path that would lead her to becoming sora so that would mean any direct way of ending herself is off the table but her fighting roxas is still in line with her main directive and so she can still technically be doing what is in her programing while also finding a way to throw a wrench in the plans of the org and end her suffering it also does not help that xion has always had trouble with self worth due to being treated like a tool by everyone except roxas and axel so she probably doesnt see any other way out of this and thinks that she would probably be better off destroyed since it would protect her friends im also pretty sure the reason why she tells roxas not to hold back is both because she wants him to destroy her and most likely her programing is making it so she cant hold back so if she knows she wont hold back she doesn't want him to hold back either because she doesn't want to hurt him
