Thank you! And your welcome. We only saw one video where we didn’t see much on the rebuild so we especially wanted to do to show everyone how to tear it down. We can’t wait to rebuild it next week.
There really wasn’t. We had to go off a lot of the shop manual and they recommend a lot of one off tools. Hope you enjoyed it. We are excited to rebuild it.
Those snap rings you are referring to are actually a Lockring. There is a beefier plier made for those called a lock ring plier. Otherwise very nice work
Question. The gear/clutch you talk about at the 3:45 mark, did you have a hard time sliding it back on? Mine slides in backwards easily, but doesn't go in the correct way? I even got a different one and it still only goes in about halfway.
We had to pull ours out and reinstall it cause it sank too deep on the me side. Now it’s pretty easy to mesh together. I think we had to front shaft them rear shaft first

Very useful, thanks, Chris!

Hey Chris! This is Chris......... Thats pretty stout tackling a transmission. You're making great progress, keep it up!!!
Thank you. We are trying to everything ourselves. It’s gonna be tough but fun.

Thank you I appreciate it. I’m still learning and don’t have a lot of tools.
its amazing how simple they are. what is your plan with it? clean and replace the bearings?
Just pretty much clean up, replace the bearings , gaskets, and replace the rollers inside the transmission as well.
@@RESTORATIONRESCUE sounds simple though im sure the bearings will be a pain. looking forward to seeing it done.
@@skulltyrant2 us too we can’t get it back together next week and get onto building our engine.
How did you end up getting by that retaining ring to remove the main shaft? I'm having a hard time doing it. Thank you in advance.
If it’s the one I’m thinking of we removed that ring to get it out.
@@RESTORATIONRESCUE, yes, how did you end up removing it? I open it, but can't seem to move it to remove the main shaft.
@@ThaLou-zv1xu can you send the time of what you mean just so I can make sure I have you the right answer.
@@RESTORATIONRESCUE, at the 7:45 mark.
@@ThaLou-zv1xu so what we did is take snap ring pliers and opening it up and just pulled. It was a pain.
Would this be the same 3 speed that came in a 1970 c10?
I do not believe so. I believe the 1970 had the Saginaw 3 speed but I could be wrong. Can you email a picture of yours?

@@RESTORATIONRESCUE, I was able to get it back on with a few taps. Thanks again for the help and the video.
@@ThaLou-zv1xu no problem anytime and thank you for watching.
Just curious, what manual did you use? Most of the ones I find online are for the 4-speeds.
