I second that...this should have been oversized......in that Black Label magazine format....I was surprised that it was released as a standard sized hardcover.
Great review as always. I am glad you mentioned how much Mark Russell focused on Batman.....which to me made Batman the second lead and for me it took the focus off of what I thought should be a Superman focused book. I still really enjoyed the book, for the dense character driven storytelling. Agreed, I also thought it would end in another way .....and the ending...not what I expected, but maybe that was for the best....because it is an ending that leaves you thinking....."what" ? I am glad that Mark Russell didnt take the easy way out and he pushed the envelope a bit with the storytelling...very heartfelt. Allred is a master..totally elevates the story. Yes the ending left me wanting more....it was ambiguous and Russell didn't overexplain it.......especially with another version of Superman....
@@samirdave7732 I bought the singles for this run and they were standard size issues like three jokers was,but that story is getting an (overprized) absolute edition published soon so there is hope.
@@samirdave7732 agree with every statement of this man! Great analysis by you overall! A lot of parts I agree with but still enjoyed especially when it comes to Batman and his focus. Batman’s story was very enjoyable for me overall and it was interesting to see him used as a plot device in a way to show the opposite side of the same coin pertaining to hope. I also agree with that ending being maybe what he intended especially when the stories theme is hope and all the ending leaves you with is hope and not much else which could of been the plan over all. Allred is 100% a master and I still enjoyed the story very well overall because of the entire package. Only reason I couldn’t give it a higher ranking is due to me thinking of how spoiled we are story wise for the character of Superman especially stories that focus on hope and how some do it slightly better. But still a great read over all!
