      I have a question, is the breakaway torque same as forward?. The 330 lbs . I have the dcf899 and its a beast. Just wanted something like the milwakee m18 with 450 lbs torque

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  6 років тому +1

      Never. It is mechanically easier to loosen something than tighten, so nut busting torque is used in marketing all the time. Dewalt is not one to rate their tools like other manufacturers. They rate drills in Units Watts output rather than inch pounds. Same with this impact, it is not rated the same. Personally, I feel that the Milwaukee is more powerful when using each of them, but I have yet to prove it.

    *I like the features of the LED light on both the drill and the **MyBest.Tools** . I also like the contractor bag where I carry drill bits and driver attachments. So far the batteries hold charges to my satisfaction.*

    We have both Milwaukee and DeWalt in our shop the new high torque Milwaukee and the high torque DeWalt. Even though the Milwaukee has a higher rated torque it struggles more than the DeWalt and eats through batteries quicker. As for 3/8 drive the are very equal, the Milwaukee one key is awesome, but the DeWalt xr 3/8 drive still seemed to have more power and the batteries last longer with both the m18 a 4ah and the DeWalt a 20v 4ah. As for drills the Milwaukee drills are straight junk, drill bit nappers with the auto shutdown, won't see a red drill in our shop again.

      I've switched over to the Dewalt 20 volt tools since, only because my room mate has Milwaukee tools and I didnt want to get them mixed up. I like Dewalt, but I must say red and black look a heck of a lot nicer to me than yellow and black.

      Justin D
      Well, that 330 ft/lbs is probably "bolt breakawasy" torque, which is usually a lot higher than 'working torque"
      For example, DCF899 has 700 max torque with 1200 breakaway torque.
      I think that 3/8 impact wrench's working torque would be somewhere around 150~180.

    I have a Dewalt 20v Drill, will the 2.0ah batteries for it run this 1/2 inch impact, or do I need a different set also are the chargers the same for the larger batteries? One more question. About how many wheels can be rotated on one battery?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 роки тому

      The 2.0 will power this, but it will not run at its best performance. I would suggest a 5.0 Ah. I would venture to say you could rotate the tires on 3 cars with a 5.0 and probably struggle to get through one with a 2.0.

      WorkshopAddict I'm not into either yet, but I have been trying to decide between dewalt vs milwaukee hammer drill/impact driver combo (both kits are fairly evenly matched) and the better impact wrench may make or break the kit decision.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  6 років тому

      Well, there might be more to it. How often will you use the side handle on the hammer drill? Take a look here and watch what happened to the Milwaukee. ua-cam.com/video/dbsc3U_-Mqk/v-deo.html It is not a dig on Milwaukee as I love their tools. But the side handle on that drill is not up to par.

    • @12799MaDeuce

      The side handle isn't a huge issue for me, but that's still good to know. I'm a stickler for details, and issues like that put a bad taste in my mouth. I've used the older Nicad equivalent of the Dewalt drill and liked it very much, handle was super sturdy. Ugh...I hate making decisions like this! May have to just get the Dewalt kit and the Milwaukee impact wrench.

In Short I will go for milwaukee any day than this. I feel the power is lacking in this one better than DCF889 with a less formfactor it give almost the same power. Only thing I like about this one is the precision control when I take out smaller bolt it helps. If this is a first tools set I would probably recommend and get a Ridgid Gen5 Impact set which was on sale last week for really cheaper than this. More over this is a made in China and not Made in USA like DCF899 If you really want a dewalt impact I would say DCF899 is the one to go and get a milwaukee mid range for smaller automobile uses. Upgraded from an older 18v kit. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

    Why does everyone hate Dewalt so much?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  6 років тому

      Dewalt is behind on their impact tools. We do not hate them!

      bman409 lol what? It’s literally Milwaukee and Dewalt you’ll ever see.

      RzVids - I'm saying, when I watch a DeWalt video you'll see how much folks comment and hate on DeWalt and be like "Milwaukee is better", etc. To me, they're both good tool brands. *shrug*

      Dewalt impact wrenches are significantly weaker than Milwaukee counter parts. Try them out and you’ll see.

    Slow response for Milwaukee mid tq and underpowered, imo DeWalt failed with this.

    Dewalt and its cordless job site is just way to much of with flexvolt. Any hi demand on milwaukee stuff and it will trip out.

      @WorkshopAddict  7 років тому

      It is, but 120 ft lbs per the rating.

      WorkshopAddict I’m a Dewalt guy with some Milwaukee, but I wonder when you do these reviews why you don’t mention that the Milwaukee is very compact and has more power ? I’m a builder not a mechanic but it would be helpful to viewers if you helped us choose if the Dewalt will be enough torque or we should get the Milwaukee...

      got a part number to back that up?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  6 років тому

      Milwaukee part #? If so, 2861-20 The Dewalt # is in the title.

      I hadn't heard of that one before. I have dewalt stuff or I'd be all over that one. I wish dewalt had a mid torque 3/8. I've already got the big 1/2 brushless.
