Not for the first time, the narrator in these videos mentions 'Royal Army Soldiers' when speaking about the land force element of the UK's armed services. There is no such thing and hasn't been for over 350 years. It's called the British Army for a reason - because it fought against the Crown during the English Civil War. Yes there are such things as the Royal Navy (the senior service) and the Royal Air Force. But not a Royal Army. Even the Guards Regiments that protect the Queen's official residences are formed from the British Army.

The Brits are exceptionally good at doing wars. I'm not sure the EU wants to ride that train. I've trained alongside British paratroopers and marines amongst others. They are soldiers of the highest calibre. The uk armed forces are small, perfectly formed and frighteningly effective. No question the British have a great and elite military, but most the EU countries have amazing and very elite military. Take for example Denmark. They have a small army, but some of the best troops in the world. Combined with other elite EU military I don't see Britain having much of a chance in the long run.

I don't understand how people are getting competitive about this. The UK and the rest of the EU are good friends, regardless of Brexit, and thus the British army's positioning in an instant war would be terribly unprepared and distributed poorly. The UK can fortify itself against the rest of the EU if the doctrine required it, but like you said, since EU is UK's allies, there's no need for that. The current UK's doctrine is a legacy of the Cold War era, which is to quickly mobilize and support NATO forces in continental Europe in an event of the Soviet attack, as well as monitoring and hunting down Soviet subs in the Norwegian Sea. If UK's military doctrine is about defending against the EU, it would have invested a lot in procuring long-range air defense systems and coastal defenses.
Total reverse situation, as by the time the EU is ready to attack with amphibious forces, the Canadians will have arrived, the ANZAC forces will be half way there, and the manpower and industrial capacity of a mobilised India with technical assistance from Australia and New Zealand would massively turn the tide. To the point of a counter invasion if they could bring the troops in to England for D-Day 2.0.

One thing which you haven't taken into account is the access to resources with Britain leaving the EU. That in itself would impact the war machine and the infrastructure needed for a campaign to hold itself together.
I’m assuming this guy has never seen Brits on holiday, never mind at war. Just tell us theres a stag doo in Brussels and it’s a £1 a pint, it would be all over by morning.
Tbh there's a few things to consider about the scenario. 1. The video is about the EU conquering the UK. Such a decision would have been made before a war even started. Troops would most likely have been mobilized before the war even started. Given that scenario, if the UK decides to go for Ireland first, splitting up their troops like that, and it was impossible for the EU to properly assist Ireland cause of a blockade or something like that, the EU should just instantly go for mainland britain. Since the UK would need some time to conquer ireland, the EU would already inflict heavy damage on the mainland, possibly resulting in britain having to withdraw the troops out of ireland because they're needed on the mainland. In that case, attacking the mainland is the best the EU could do for Ireland, hoping that britain will withdraw their troops.
For a sci-fi until you remember those 3 Argentinian Super-Étendard dooming the entire UK fleet for a good period of time... And now instead of an old Super-Étendard you have Rafale, Typhoon, Eurofighter etc...
Not entirely sure the EU could take out the entire British navy and air force as quickly as suggested. The British would be fighting closer to home in every battle, like in WW2. So, they would have an advantage in fuel, support, turnaround times. Unless the EU could achieve total air and sea superiority, a land invasion would not be possible. I think the EU's best chance would be a blockade to shut down the UK economy first, maybe lasting several years. Then it could out produce the UK on all weapon systems, so should gradually be able to destroy the UK's means to defend itself.
It's basically impossible to invade the UK using amphibious assault, and definitely not with the 10,000 capacity the EU has! Even if they had 3 or 4 times that it's just not enough. The submarines will not be hunted down by helos, they will go defensive and sit in sonar free zones (yes, thats a thing) and during an invasion they will shred the attackers. The other problem is helos with anti-shipping missiles, again death for amphibious assault. This kind of assault just isn't viable these days when the defender has any prior warning and such weapons.
Spain: "We'll send an armada." Germany: "We'll blitz them." France: "We'll have our troops walk the channel tunnel." Italy: "We surrender." UK: "You lot never learn."
If it took months for the EU to assemble, Britain would make best use of that time by conscripting the populace and building military equipment. Your scenario only really works if the EU is able to attack right away.

True, EU would have to take time to assemble. But the british army wouldn't be able to hold off the slow but growing armies of the EU pooring into the british isles. Its too much and too many for them. Their best hopes would be to make the war too costly and not worth it for the EU.

If the UK has months before the EU can assemble, and knows that the EU is going to attack, as per the scenario, they will conscript as much of the populace as they can and retool factories to build as much military equipment as they can in preparation. We've seen just recently how quickly factories can be retooled to produce other equipment, thanks to Covid-19. The end being is that you would have an armed and at least somewhat trained large secondary force to inflict loses on EU troops once they land. It would become very, very costly to invade the UK in lives and materials. This is one of the reasons why Nazi Germany opted to try to starve the UK of its supplies for years, so that they would either break or be too weak to fight if the nazi's committed to operation Sea Lion. The EU would have to adopt the same strategy, which would buy the UK time to get outside help...although that part is outside of the scenario.

Combine that with the 200,000 active and reserve troops we already have, plus an angry population probably in the millions, and the EU has a got a fight on their hands they would not want. Morale would be extremely high in the UK and every one would inflict far more losses on the EU forces than us.

Not for the first time, the narrator in these videos mentions 'Royal Army Soldiers' when speaking about the land force element of the UK's armed services. There is no such thing and hasn't been for over 350 years. It's called the British Army for a reason - because it fought against the Crown during the English Civil War.
Yes there are such things as the Royal Navy (the senior service) and the Royal Air Force. But not a Royal Army. Even the Guards Regiments that protect the Queen's official residences are formed from the British Army.

Troops were traditionally pulled to together by the local lord by giving a peasant a pike, the Navy was expensive and took time to build so it was done centrally under the crown

It's telling that every time there is a middle east vs middle east country scenario all the comments from those in the respective countries are wishing for peace and cooperation. Whenever it's a western country vs any other country we have a bunch of armchair generals talking about how their country will kick everyone's ass. Idk if it's because it feels less realistic or if it's because most of us can't relate to a real total war situation and its absolute horror but it shows a major difference in mentality.

No question the British have a great and elite military, but most the EU countries have amazing and very elite military. Take for example Denmark. They have a small army, but some of the best troops in the world. Combined with other elite EU military I don't see Britain having much of a chance in the long run.

I don't understand how people are getting competitive about this. The UK and the rest of the EU are good friends, regardless of Brexit, and thus the British army's positioning in an instant war would be terribly unprepared and distributed poorly. The UK can fortify itself against the rest of the EU if the doctrine required it, but like you said, since EU is UK's allies, there's no need for that. The current UK's doctrine is a legacy of the Cold War era, which is to quickly mobilize and support NATO forces in continental Europe in an event of the Soviet attack, as well as monitoring and hunting down Soviet subs in the Norwegian Sea. If UK's military doctrine is about defending against the EU, it would have invested a lot in procuring long-range air defense systems and coastal defenses.

Tbh there's a few things to consider about the scenario.
1. The video is about the EU conquering the UK. Such a decision would have been made before a war even started. Troops would most likely have been mobilized before the war even started. Given that scenario, if the UK decides to go for Ireland first, splitting up their troops like that, and it was impossible for the EU to properly assist Ireland cause of a blockade or something like that, the EU should just instantly go for mainland britain. Since the UK would need some time to conquer ireland, the EU would already inflict heavy damage on the mainland, possibly resulting in britain having to withdraw the troops out of ireland because they're needed on the mainland. In that case, attacking the mainland is the best the EU could do for Ireland, hoping that britain will withdraw their troops.

Not entirely sure the EU could take out the entire British navy and air force as quickly as suggested. The British would be fighting closer to home in every battle, like in WW2. So, they would have an advantage in fuel, support, turnaround times. Unless the EU could achieve total air and sea superiority, a land invasion would not be possible. I think the EU's best chance would be a blockade to shut down the UK economy first, maybe lasting several years. Then it could out produce the UK on all weapon systems, so should gradually be able to destroy the UK's means to defend itself.

It's basically impossible to invade the UK using amphibious assault, and definitely not with the 10,000 capacity the EU has! Even if they had 3 or 4 times that it's just not enough. The submarines will not be hunted down by helos, they will go defensive and sit in sonar free zones (yes, thats a thing) and during an invasion they will shred the attackers. The other problem is helos with anti-shipping missiles, again death for amphibious assault. This kind of assault just isn't viable these days when the defender has any prior warning and such weapons.

If it took months for the EU to assemble, Britain would make best use of that time by conscripting the populace and building military equipment. Your scenario only really works if the EU is able to attack right away.

The scenario as presented has the EU taking months to assemble its forces, and has it happening AFTER the initial declaration of hostilities. So it doesn't matter how coordinated they are, we have set time frame for them to begin attacking the UK.

But the british army wouldn't be able to hold off the slow but growing armies of the EU pooring into the british isles. Its too much and too many for them.
Their best hopes would be to make the war too costly and not worth it for the EU.

If the UK has months before the EU can assemble, and knows that the EU is going to attack, as per the scenario, they will conscript as much of the populace as they can and retool factories to build as much military equipment as they can in preparation. We've seen just recently how quickly factories can be retooled to produce other equipment, thanks to Covid-19.
The end being is that you would have an armed and at least somewhat trained large secondary force to inflict loses on EU troops once they land. It would become very, very costly to invade the UK in lives and materials.
This is one of the reasons why Nazi Germany opted to try to starve the UK of its supplies for years, so that they would either break or be too weak to fight if the nazi's committed to operation Sea Lion. The EU would have to adopt the same strategy, which would buy the UK time to get outside help...although that part is outside of the scenario.
@@jerrelhurenkamp5251 The ex veterans we have ( that Binkov forgot about) would be contributing as well if they knew the EU were going to invade us and they number well over 400,000, all soldiers that fought in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland with years of battle experience. Combine that with the 200,000 active and reserve troops we already have, plus an angry population probably in the millions, and the EU has a got a fight on their hands they would not want. Morale would be extremely high in the UK and every one would inflict far more losses on the EU forces than us.
Come now, you MUST do Commonwealth vs. EU now. That's how it would go.

Winning a war is hard these days. Even if you think you have won it, if the locals have no buy in, then you never really win. You can occupy for as long as you like, but the moment you look away, you die. Except for the UK. Once upon a time, the UK was always going to win. Now the average UK citizen has only ever seen a gun when its in the hands of a criminal. There is no gun in every cottage. They are doomed in a scenario like this. But for the most part, their own government is just as bad as any potential invader.
