Awesome car, Alex. I've got an 87 in guards red. The sunroof seal you mentioned is not designed to be water tight. There's a large pan underneath the sunroof that collects the water. The water is then carried through tubes running along the roofline and drained out the bottom of the rear windshield. And I think maybe the front windshield, too. If you open up the engine lid you can see the drain holes on both sides just under the rear windshield.
Keep the Fuchs and have them refinished! Take that from a old man that just won his class at the 2024 Werks Reunion in Amelia Island, with a 1975 911S that I’ve owned for 44 years!🏎🏎🏎
Hello Alex. Great video. I am a bit older than you at 58 and was a 928 (manual only of course) owner since the early 90's because they are also great cars and much more affordable to buy and wasn't really bitten by the 911 bug until 2014. I finally picked up a 1982 SC 911 in December in Grand Prix white and I am loving it. Been doing a ton of brush touch up because the car was really nicked up quite a bit but is rust free. When I got the car it would not idle and popped a lot. Richened the mixture and its running much better now. Doing all the neglected maintenance like trans fluid and tune-up. I'm having almost as much fun in the garage playing 80's music working on as driving it
911 is my dream car. One day… currently daily a Subaru STi hatch. Funny to hear people say the STi was their dream car - bc it was never a “dream car” to me. That said, it also wasn’t around yet when I was a kid with exotic car posters on my walls. The Subaru is nice, and it’s got a flat engine, but a classic 911 is something I could sit and stare at for hours. Awesome looking car - looks like a blast.
Different wheels can really change the look of a car. I go back and forth between flat 6's and 4.5" steelies on my '66...it's good to have choices. Love the color of your car.
Congrats on 4 years of ownership, looks like you got a good one! I’ve had my 1981 for 5 years and in that time I’ve added 23,000 miles. These are great cars if you keep them maintained and drive them regularly. Porsche really knew what they were doing when they built these air cooled engineering marvels.
Great video Alex. This car is identical to my 911 I owned but sadly sold; Copenhagen blue with blue leather. The best combination. Definitely keep the Fuchs on. By fitting Turbo wheels on the back it has really improved the already stunning looks of this Carrera. Good luck from Blighty🇬🇧
Keep the wheel. 7x16 plus 8x16 is the best choice! And Fuchs are original and the nicest. I changed my 964 from 6x16 and 8x16 to 7x16 (8x16 in the back). Direct steering feel, no more understeer (964 have normaly a light understeer). More dynamic and more lively in the back then my actual 7x17 and 9x17 combo. But the Cup look better then the desing 90.
I have an '88 Carrera that is Cassis Red Metallic. Like you, I love the classic appeal of my '88. My vote is to stick with the Fuchs just as they are. Classic is best!
That’s a great example! Keep the Fuchs (Ruf’s are nice but much heavier), love the steering wheel, and if you don’t mind a suggestion, I like the Euro amber tail light lenses on these 911’s
I don’t know whether it’s the light, but looks like your baby needs a proper detailing. The seat leather is dry and needs moisturising and the paint looks dull. It will shine and feel like a different car when you get this done. (I haven’t done mine yet as I’ve been busy fixing up things)
You have a nice car . I have been lucky to have owned 2 Porsche 911's in my life - a 69 911T and a 99 Carrera. Keep it factory out of respect to the Germans who screwed it together. Keep your upgrades tasteful and enjoy it and always "drive it like you stole it" ! (When necessary)
Hi I wasn't trying to be rude it's just that I have a 1985 911 that I have had for about 25 years in the shop having the engine rebuilt i wash and detail my own car I just thought you forgot to detail the tires
The sunroofs don’t leak, the problem is the felt seal around the sunroof has to constantly be replaced because it comes apart easily. It’s a cosmetic annoyance. I did love my w123 when I had one. Such a phenomenal car!

What I appreciate about your videos is that you speak with a passion and thoughtfulness that resonates with me.

Thank you! Subaru STi’s are a blast!! I love them!

Totally agree
Great color! And, yeah, keep the Fuchs!
Beautiful car. 80’s 911 are my favourite. I have had a Cassis Red ‘87 for a year now. Always puts a smile on my face
Phenomenal color!

Amazing. I love to hear about the cars being driven and enjoyed. Cheers!
That car is incredible! Definitely going to need more videos on it!
More to come!
What a classic with beautiful patina. Thanks for sharing. Like that you are keeping a period correct look. Plus one for Fuchs
Thank you!
RUF wheels are badass but I bet you would be pretty happy with spacers and the wheels you have now
All I can say is wow. You have quite the taste in cars. I love the wheels.
Thank you so much!!
What a beauty... Haven't even watched the video yet. The intro was enough 👍 Looking forward to watching this
You're a lovely ambassador for the brand, appreciate the thoughts sir. Greetings from TX.
I appreciate that! Thank you!!

Copenhagen is such a beautiful color!
Man, this thing is gorgeous! I love the color! Also really love the sisal mats. Enjoy!
Thanks so much!

Thank you! That is helpful!
Love the color of this car. Different from the guards red or black. Looks great
Thank you!!😊
Congratulations and you have a beautiful car.

Thank you and yes, I will keep the Fuchs! Cassis red is phenomenal!!🔥

Amber taillights are a great suggestion!
Gotta keep the Fuchs! In any case, I’d double check, I don’t think you can run 9’s without rolling the fenders
Great information! Thank you!
Sweet car! I would do color-matched Fuchs on that nice blue.

I have a 1988, keep the Fuchs, just try the vasoline trick, the RUF' s are heavy
Love this car…definitely keep it!
Yes!! Definitely will!
Nice ride don't forget to shine up the tires
Haha, yes! Car needs a detail!

Haha, yes!
I own a 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertable and 2019 GT3RS lizard 🦎 green 💚 😎 nice car Bro 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
Thank you!! 🙏🏾 you have a great lineup too!
Ruf wheels would look great 👍
What a beauty man!!!
Thank you!!

Oh no, it’s not rude. The car needs to be washed!😂😂
Great looking 9/11… Well done.
If you get the RUFs, keep the Fuchs. One of my biggest regrets is getting rid of wheels that I should’ve kept.
Yes, great advice! I always keep the original equipment with the car.
Nice car Alex.
Thank you!
Nice example man
Thank you!!
Very charismatic video stay with the foxes
Love your car
Awesome ride - who makes the floor mats?
Thank you! Cocomats.com manufacturers them. They make them for all cars. I’ve purchased over 5 or 6 sets for different cars over the years!
The Fuchs.
Too bad Porsche couldn't get the sunroof right, I have owned 2 80s Mercedes W123 with sunroofs that never leak.
The sunroofs don’t leak, the problem is the felt seal around the sunroof has to constantly be replaced because it comes apart easily. It’s a cosmetic annoyance. I did love my w123 when I had one. Such a phenomenal car!
Air cool life 😎
Keep the Fuchs
🎉
perfect as is
Thank you!!
