I have been obsessed with the idea of an easy to execute stone army and who better to use than the Stormcast Eternals! Here's the thing though...they need more dread...

I'm trying to figure out what dreadcast to paint next...a Terrorgheist or a Zombie Dragon with a rider.
What do you think?
…um no brainer, zombie dragon every day of the week!
@@nickh9424 You're right, what was i thinking
Dragon.....
Yo, this is 2 weeks old but yt algorithm and all that.
For the issue you had with fiddly bits. just get silly putty. That stuff is awesome even as a paint mask material so it's multi use.
Get something comfortable to hold, plop a blob of putty and shove the tiny bit in there. Easy to clean, holds well, usually no residue to clean. Oh and you can wash/clean it.
@@CreamAle This is going to be wicked helpful when I tackle a horde of Sequitors!
These guys are absolutely badass. Definitely do zombie dragon next
I absolutely love the grave dirt overflowing, excellent concept! Models look great but I do have one gripe and it's more of a pet peeve than anything. But why does the sword guy have two heads? The way he holds it gives of the impression that it isn't a trophy, personally I wouldn't of given him a head on his shoulders to give him a headless horseman vibe. Besides he's dead so it's not like he'd mind.
That being said, I do like the idea that it's his friend that he carries around to keep him company during his off time. Makes me think of Tom and Ben from Yogscast
The headless horseman vibe was my initial goal but after putting heads on the other two it just didn't feel right to leave the leader without one.
I do love how it turned out though, it hints at a buddy narrative like you were saying!
nice job + interesting ideas. good video quality 10/10 would watch more.
Undead Stormcast?
Such is the power of Nagash.
Instantly subscribed. Great quality of vids. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
The production quality is amazing, looking forward to your next videos !
Thank you!!!
Awesome idea! I have a ton of extra skulls from that same kit, so I'm strongly considering trying to make a nice little battleforce just like this from a Start Collecting box.
It's either this, or paint them up like Artorias from Dark Souls.
Came for the sick model. Stayed for the charm. Subbed for that excellent jacket.
Can't believe how small this channel is with this kinda quality. 🤘
This is the internet, so i'll use my freedom to burst this echo chamber. Now, don't misunderstand, i actually think this is a pretty cool idea. Also, your editing and video quality is really really good so that helps. Here's the deal - You are new to the miniature hobby. Your sense of contrast is not really there yet and your understanding of colour theory is in it's infancy. Your brush control is at beginner level and your experience with technical paints and overall techniques is in need of time and practice to develop. This is not a dig on you. This is just how it is. Everyone starts somewhere. HOWEVER! You have to be careful from here. You are trying to build a youtube channel about miniature painting. Make sure you don't try to teach before you have the skills and understanding to do so. Overall, you're really good at reminding your audience that you're learning, but saying things like "i'm on the right track by doing this" or "i did this to simulate this" when you are simply only experimenting and learning, it tends to sound like "this is how to do it" rather than "this is what i'm trying, since i'm still learning". You are a new miniature painter so let that guide the videos 'till you have the tools to teach. It's a minor thing in your case since you only fall into that pit a few times per video, but i've seen too many dudes become full of themselves based on an internet following. Your video quality is too good to ruin and you seem like a nice dude so don't let the age of clickbait and algorithms taint your content like so many before you.
Thank you for taking the time to type this up for me Emil! It's not often i get straight forward and well thought out feedback that isn't afraid to call out stuff. I want to grow and get better and this will definitely help!
@@lovedeathdice I actually love the little asides about your mistakes and, while I certainly don't hope you keep making mistakes as you go, I think taking the extra time and humility to highlight them is an excellent touch (and from a narrative standpoint it actually makes the end results more satisfying than if you'd nailed it first try.)
@@MastaDRD Thank you! My thoughts exactly. It feels more honest to show that i'm starting out and that it's okay to make mistakes. I think it sends a better message.
I really like the theme
Hey homie, love your style of vids, but I feel like these test minis were a miss 😢. Imo, the “rock” texturing covers up so much important detail and it makes the final product just look sloppy. Not to mention the skulls placed for heads are so tiny, it gives them a derpy look w little pin heads, just makes the scale feel unbalanced and off.
Having said that, it seems like you’re pleased and that’s all that matters! So keep on keep in’ my dude. I really do like the narrative and idea of the dreadcast eternals though. It’s a concept I’d love to play with!
I actually just this morning had the idea to do something similar with Fyreslayers. Only problem was I had no idea what texture paint to use or what they look like on a model. Then this pops up. I think Google's watching me a little too hard.
i got a set of the Army Painter dry brushes and the are shite. Army Painter even replaced the first set i had but the replacements were just as bad. Cheap makeup brushes were better. Gonna get a set of Artis Opus brushes once i have a bit of spare cash
I think i'm in the same mind set
Those turned out fantastic, great video man!
For dry brushing DO NOT use paper towel. That is the reason you get the dusty look is because the moisture has been absorbed by the towel. there are great vids on what to use. for dry brushing use a makeup brush.
Loved this! I can't wait to see more content!
As always, great music dude oh and the video too 😅
Cant believe I only found this channel now seriously great videos dude
Ah, to be young again. I kind of remember when I would bleed if I cut my fingers, those days are a distant memory now. Only hobby marks (scars) remain on my fingertips.
Awesome work though!
This is oddly poetic sounding.
Great video mate! Hope that you continue doing these videos, the production and the hobby job is amazing, you deserve more views!
Thank you! I've got plenty more gruesome things i want to paint and i'm gonna share them all here!
What a cool concept for a Stormcast army's! Love the colours and all of the earthen textures. Great stuff!
Oh man! Awesome video! You gained a sub
Great Job on the Minis, but that back story gave me a shiver
Great content!
I am greatly enjoying your videos, and having started with this one I must say I was caught off guard by how new you were to this hobby with the next video, given how well you speak the lingo of a mini painter already. I'd expected a lengthy backlog of videos and a wealth of experience, and I suppose you can safely take that as a multilayered compliment on the quality of your work across the board here. Definitely keeping an eye on your channel moving forward.
(P.S. In a similar vein to what you're doing here, have you considered trying 40k again but with a themed project using kitbashing and developing your own lore akin to this excellent Dreadcast concept? Armies like that are always the most fun, I'm working on one myself currently.)
*Me glancing at my Necron and Adeptus Mechanicus codexes...
"Oh hell yeah we're getting back into 40k!!!"
After some time to think about it and exploring the lore of 40K i discovered why i didn't care much for it in the beginning - I picked the wrong side. I hate good guy armies as it turns out XD
I've fallen in love with 40k and i can't wait to bring more of that content to the channel. Potentially everything from Orks, to necrons to maybe even Nightlords. I legit have so much stuff i want to do and kitbashing is definitely high up on that list.

Thank you for your kind words, It brings me a lot of joy and relief that people are enjoying videos from somebody so new to the hobby.
@@lovedeathdice Wellp, that seals it for me. Subbed. \m/
Methods. Check. Add only one arm and I feel your pain. Love your work. Not all pompous nasal look how I can paint stuff, like other creators.
Thank you!
Yer welcome....from a canadian
This is really cool stuff.
This is great! Stardrake next ☺️
subbed for the protomen, keep the fire!
Yooo right on, The Protomen are my favorite band of all time!
Awesome video mate! great job at persisting, those texture paints are bad ass. Are those patron names at the end?
Loving your more texture/material based approach to mini painting, definitely giving me ideas!
Stony Stormcast was an idea I also had a little while ago, while browsing a used miniatures website. I saw some discounted, damaged models, missing some pieces, and a lightbulb came on in my head. Why not grab them, and paint them like stone statues? That way, it would look like they were missing pieces because they broke off.
I didn't end up purchasing them before they disappeared from the store, so opportunity lost. But the idea stuck with me, so I might end up buying some Stormcast anyway.
The concept is that of a Stormcast Eternal army (or skirmish warband, depends on how much I commit to buying) that got petrified by a serpentine godbeast called the Ur-Gorgon. Basically a colossal snake with a petrifying gaze. Though the beast has been brought to heel, a host of Stormcast (and probably some humans, too, if I wanted to make a Cities of Sigmar army) were turned to stone. Worse, while a slain Stormcast would return to Azyr to be reforged, the petrified ones were trapped. Their statue bodies either remained in the site of the battle or were taken to Azyr to be displayed, a monument to the fallen.
That is, until years later when the mages of Azyr formulated a plan by conversing with a bunch of spellcasters from various Order factions (Duarden, Lumineth Realm-Lords, Daughters of Khaine, etc). They couldn't reverse the petrification, but they could animate the statues. Granting the fallen heroes the ability to speak, move, and fight.
And the Ur-Gorgon? Well, I like the idea of sculpting a custom model of it. Its eyes gouged out, and leashed to the cause of Sigmar. Use it as a Kharibdis proxy.
Fuck yeah, do it!
What brand are you hose leafs?
Green stuff world Leaf Litter
- Natural (Brownish ones)
- Autumn (Reddish ones)
Hope this helps!!!
@@lovedeathdice thank you, I'm for making some orks on Autumn themed bases, and this'll be perfect
I’m actually begging for a full army painting video, these are so damn cool!
They look Savage man great idea
Cancerish paint job.
Just wanted to say that I’m not sure how I found you and your channel but I’m so glad I did! Your videos have this level of professionalism, effort, and polish that. Other channels with subscriber counts higher than yours(for now) will only dream of achieving! I’m so glad I found your channel and I can’t wait to keep watching!
