PSA could have nipped this in the bud by decertifying and banning the numpties who shouted out a card cleaning company in their very own office. That would have made a big statement.

The problem is if they sold the card. If they sold it as a PSA 10 before PSA took it down. Is PSA liable for the price difference to the card now ??? Because the buyer would have bought it as a PSA 10. After purchasing the card PSA took away the grade on it. The buyer would have done nothing wrong.
They are liable, given their guarantee. That’s precisely why it got decertified. Nat Turner was on the Geoff Wilson show talking about this exact type of scenario.

PSA guarantee will cover the person if this guy sold it.
No, PSA will cover them. PSA guarantee does not apply to people who submit the card. Only if you’re someone who bought it later on.

Psa didn’t have the balls to decertify that wemby 1/1, knowing that it had been ALTERED (cleaned is an understatement). However, they decertified a bunch of vintage cards that the submitter showed being altered with the juice. Now this had been decertified? Make it make sense! That wemby 1/1 MUST now be decertified given the market KNOWS it went through the same process as these recent decertifications

They didn't know that the Wemby had been altered. The guy gave shoutout to Kurt, but didn't say anything about using his products on it. Maybe they did, but there was not enough evidence to do anything on it.

What’s still interesting is the fact they still can’t detect the cleaning upon grading. They have to look online where others point it out to them that it’s been done.
You can be a card cleaner and just not show it online and get away with it.
Kudos to PSA for taking action at least.They are in a weird spot.They have a guarantee on something that they cant actually detect very well so it leaves them very exposed to payouts.

Good on PSA to recertify it but bad on PSA to do it in a reaction. If these card cleaners would shut up, no one would have known.

Not really. It's the fact that most people don't understand that the auto has nothing to do with the grading of the surface on a card. That card would grade a PSA 10 with an auto 6 or 7 because they are two different sets of grading. Sticker autos with scratches and bubbles on the sticker don't affect the grade of the card either. It's just that most people have no idea how any grading criteria works for any of the companies they complain about.
Exactly why i don't buy graded. Got a whole heap of slabs out there now sealed in with these chemicals

I don't get how that card got a 10 in the first place. If PSA docks a card for a print line, shouldn't they knock a grade off for a smeared (faded, waxed) auto?
They grade autos separately

Just a thought, is it possible that the owner could’ve evaded all of this mess, by cleaning the card originally, except leaving out the auto? Some people noticed this card due to the auto. So it’s entirely possible if the auto was not touched to begin with, this would’ve passed everyone’s eyes?
This is outrageous. If you send in a card in you bought, not only can they ruin that card (with no cause) but they can ruin your entire order. Then they steal your money. I can't believe this.

@DanTheCardMan2 that's not remotely true. You buy a card from a shop and send in an order. They ruin all your cards and steal your money because they believe it was cleaned. You didn't do it. Maybe the guy who sold it to you did. Maybe he didn't. Maybe it was the guy who traded it to him. Or the guy he got it from. Maybe it was never cleaned. Doesn't matter. They ruin your cards and then rob you for trusting them.
It the game you play when grading and buying graded cards nothing is 100%

Bro, 😂 crying about a hobby/cards that is considered completely subjective is pointless. If PSA is going to grade a card a 10 with a faded out signature then sobeit.
After I saw the Jordan love cards the other night I went to take a look at mine..and, well… 😂
A card with eyesore level centering like that getting a PSA10 is such a joke - rubbing down aside. PSA10's with 70-30 centering should fetch zero premium on a well centered PSA9. I have a Vinicius rated rookie in PSA10 which has 75/25 centering right to left and it's embarrassing frankly. I love PSA holders but the grades are mostly meaningless for all but flippers/speculators of modern. I suspect 70% of rubbed down cards are still getting slabbed. You have to be pretty unlucky/dumb to get caught out like this.
Iwonder if CT Scans will be used to confirm patches without removing or destroying them ? Panini for example labels the players name on the swatch of jersey but its hidden within the card, wirh so many patch dibacles it could prove a tool rather than a total scammers delight ...Random thoughts 😂

A lot of these cards that get handled by the players that are raw autographs. Should be clean. But are not. I think it’s up to the card puller to be able to clean it. should be able to determine what they need to use to clean it. So if we all had fingerprints on our PSA cards. They would be downgraded so horribly.
The reality is that this card only got decertified because of gossip channels like this, NEO and others. Most don't even understand that the auto has nothing to actually do with a surface grade on a card. That card still would've graded a PSA 10 with likely a 6 or 7 auto if the person went that route. The hobby savants are just annoying because they don't even understand any of the actual grading guidelines for any of the companies they complain about. Misery just loves company.

Card is effectively dead now. It's so easily identifiable that it'll never escape this story "was a 9" isn't a selling point when the world knows its altered
"altered" is a joke. Damaged is more exact. It took off ink from the auto, had to have damaged the card in some fashion.
I wonder how many people grading cards are actually putting them in their PC at this point? Maybe 25%.

Why do we keep whining about PC ? If you are so focused on PC Bros, they should never be grading anything. There is nothing wrong with cleaning , I buy PSA 10s all the time and could care less if it was cleaned.
Stuff is graded to authenticate and protect, especially for the PC. If you don't care, than you're a flipper or a PSA apologist

The thing is you can clean up a card and NOT destroy the auto. Ask me how I know. These people are meat heads. No one wants printer roller lines. But destroying the auto in the process that card is worthless imo.

So, i guess PSA will be giving a refund for the grading process? if they take this stance, it should refund the monies for this after the fact process. Grading cards is for suckers and this cleaning of cards is the proof.

@@DanTheCardMan2 I'm only writing about the cleaning products that take a card back to its original state (not products that alter cards). PSA makes no money off any of these so there is no good financial reason to approve them for free. PSA (like any corporation) will put their seal of approval on a cleaning product for 10% of the gross profit. Not until then.
