That three season porch has got to be one of the coolest rooms of that house. The year round view is and will always be amazing. #33✅
Yes, hoping to one day be out there having morning coffee or enjoying an after dinner drink!
I have to say that this is the most complex build I’ve ever seen a DIYer tackle. Even PROS would find it challenging.
Yea, I was definitely cursing the complexity at times but I know it’s going to look amazing when it’s done!
Hello Kev and Cat, nice progress, love the columns, nice accent! Love Cat's comments, about your splinter; "You Yahoo!", that's exactly what my wife would have said to me! LOL 😂
Tell Cat, she's a real trooper, helping lift those beams into place! Can't wait for the next video to come out, really enjoying them, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Donnie!
Hard work good team work
Thanks for watching!
Heavy work Cat, you did well.
Great job you two I did not envy Kat lifting her end of those LVL's up especially the long 16 foot one.
Greetings from a Soggy part of NZ
Yea, those 16’ LVLs are heavy!
Такую супругу нужно на руках носить. Молодец.
Thanks for watching!
Much better vlog. It’s so much better to here you guys talking / here the saws and nail guns running than here music overlays. Go watch Perkins brothers see how the do there vlogs they just hit 1mm followers.
Just a thought: You guys should do a 10 minute sit down and discuss with your viewers the pro’s and con’s on building a house on your own. Being a husband and wife team it’s remarkable how well you work together and your wife does a fantastic job of anticipating your next moves or needs. Great job.
Thanks for the comments. I have seen the Perkins and their format is great! They are professionals and have lots guys on site and always plenty of fun content to capture.
Cat and I have talked about a sit down and talk type of format for an episode. So maybe something in the works. Stay tuned. 😀
Thanks for watching!
Watching here in ENGLAND great progress
Thanks for watching!
I think Katherine will be so happy to see it done. 😉
I think we will both be VERY happy when it’s done!
Thanks for watching!
I saw some one building a fence with columns and they have a frame over the brackets, check if you can buy that, other vise its possible to have the bracket on the inside of the column, so only the screw head is on the outside and there is a plastic head you can but to cover the screw heads
There is decorative trim that goes at the top and bottom of the columns that hide the brackets/screws. We will install those at a later date to avoid damaging them.
Hi nice adition to the building. I'm not a structural engineer but the exterior post on fiberglass is not required for me, the one with the connection on T can cantilever the roof outside with the 2 LVL and support the the mini trusts on the other way. Or maybe i'm dreaming about the load to carry. At this moment of the construction wasn't scary to see the winter coming and cover of the roof no set ?
We just set the posts according to the architectural drawings and approved building code plans.
Thanks for watching!
It’s looking so good! Why don’t y’all use ICF all the way up? Wouldn’t it have been faster? Thanks!
We had never used ICF before so it’s really the fear of the unknown.
Thanks for watching!
@@kevcatbuildit9478if you knew what you know now, would you have?
Interesting. Hollow white plastic posts it doesn't seem stable. Will they take the weight of a roof? Or do you pour concrete into it?
They are actually structural fiberglass columns with a compression strength rating of over 8000lbs. So they are plenty strong for the front porch roof.
the wonder tool in Germany for supporting work is still called a lazybones, it can be assembled in 3 minutes or you can buy it in the hardware store, I don't understand why you are torturing yourself so much, especially your wife "2x professional one-hand support, mounting support, ceiling support, telescopic support up to 290cm+"
I had to google lazybones. lol. We did use a hydraulic jack to lift the roof slightly to slide in the beam. Although, it isn’t practical in all situations especially lifting them into position the first time.
