  • First few photos in the video are from 10 years ago.
Our camp is about 2 hours away and in the middle of a national forest. So it is not easy getting supplies there and doing large jobs. Installing a new roof was a daunting task to us, that's one of the main reasons it was delayed so long. Second reason was the cost. Over the course of a few years we procured enough supplies and materials to do the roof. The shingles, tar paper and coil nails were a facebook marketplace find at a great price!
This was a ~10 year process of maintaining a failing roof to finally installing a new one. I realized as I was uploading this video that I didn't do a good job explaining how long each patch got us during that 10 year period. Small patches such as flashing the chimney, temporary tarps and sealant got us through 5 years. Tearing half the chimney down and adding the pallet/tarps over the chimney got us an extra 2-3 years. The small lean to got us 2 years. Roofing tar on the rolled roofing got us one more year. All of that is behind us now with exception of the rolled roofing on the low sloped portion of the roof. We will replace that portion in the next project haha
    Thank you for watching
