I will be visiting the City of the Dead as a foreigner. I respect these people and their culture. I wish I could help them. Has any foreigner ever gone here with a guide on foot.
Expatriate American I think that the Egyptian tourist authorities discourage tourists from going there..there are some beautiful medieval Mosques there that seems to be off-limit.
All the AJ vids out of Syria do not have comments enabled, this is the first one i have come across. I guess they are not interested in letting the public voice their comments on the situation there as it is obviously not like they are telling it.

Beautiful little film, notice at 2:29 there is a large amphora in the shot. I wonder how old that is.
There's a similar situation going in in the Philippines. Manila's North Cemetery has about 10,000 people living in it.
I realy enjoed it can here be more episodes like this ?
Hey man I wish I could go back to that time when you wrote this comment.

This kind of reminded me of the Twilight Zone, especially the ending.
If I go to Egypt I'm planning to pick up a wife from that City of the dead. Those girls look kind and beautiful.
Conclusion: Everything is impermanent
