All it took was one quote from this book to piss me off. Throw in some lazy cover art and a few terrible names, and you got this video.
Please note, this is NOT meant to be a full review on this book's overall quality. Its just a rant on an old-school's fans feelings of betrayal from this arc's disrespect to previously established character development and lore.

I will stand by the fact that Shattered Sky was the last DECENT book in this series
Cause this series went downhill after the Erins decided “LETS KILL OFF THE MAIN VILLAIN IN BOOK THREE” cause any novel series kills of the main antagonist during the third book
    Oh wait...

The next series should be with a new writer and all the clans and the cats should be wiped out completely with only one or two cats left to survive on there own and make a new place to live.

Unfortunately, Quiet Rage. The artist that made the original covers sadly died at the age of 71. I know that not everyone can make designs the same way but I honestly agree. I haven't read any of the books but I know a lot about omen of stars and the first series, I've also seen most of the covers and the originals are better in a way. The original covers are, yes, unique but the new ones make the cats look very realistic. My favourite covers are the originals though. The Erin's should try and get some more people to help them with ideas. The Warriors franchise is going down hill extremely fast and from the way things are going, let's just say a lot of Warriors UA-camrs will most likely have to quit. I'm very disappointed Erin's...

I agree with a lot of points in this video. Personally, Twigshade would have been a much better name, as it would help represent her gray coat and the parallel between her and Violetshine. Twigbranch feels lazy and unoriginal, though -branch could represent the strength and determination she withheld through her struggles. In no way does this mean I like the name. While I do think thrift is actually a kind if plant, both that name and Flipkit’s name irk me the wrong way. Honestly, I do truly like the covers of the new books, but I miss the unique feel and the general ability to tell which cat was on the cover. The plot feels a little lazy and jumps all over the place, such as Alderheart’s thing with Velvet, I think her name was. Truly, I don’t really think there was much if a point to her and Fuzzball or whatever the hell his name was residing in camp, or at least to my memory. Tigerstar being ‘revived’ in a sense breaks all rules and annoys the hell out of me, especially since I dislike his character as a whole and don’t think he’s a fit leader.
I think that’s it?? I honestly want to like the new series but I’m quickly loosing reasons to. The only parts that really played with my emotions were Rowanclaw’s death (I used to like his character quite a bit) as well as Briarlight’s due to the development she got.

    • @Shannessa

Briarlight has had a harsh life since she became a Warrior when the tree fell
      She did deserve to...
Live on until she can be a elder.
They needed the lesson that: just because you have broken arms/legs or even disabilities you can still have a normal/average lifespan
Unlike Snowkit got carried by a hawk when she was just a deaf kit
And Jayfeather already has had enough trouble being blind for his whole life
It just seems like the ones who get permanently injured is the ones we care about most (Ex: Brightheart was my favourite cat before Dovewing [until I heard she had kits with Tigerheat/Tigerstar! like bruh! Bumblestripe was better])
We needed her to be alive at least a few books longer

yea it is sad, but the change was so abrupt in 2015. I had gotten Path of Stars from DotC w/ the original sleeve on it(it was a hardcover). Inside the sleeve was a “poster” with the new map and already containing a sneak peek to AVoS and with the new looks in the back pages up to DotC which hadn’t the new covers yet. it is a first edition which makes it all the more valuable- yet it still pains me to see the change in the covers knowing someone has a similar style out there

  • @galaxymew

THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THE COVERS!!!
I hate the covers so much, they all look the same!!
And they sometimes just traced over the previous covers they did.
the covers are creative dumpster wrecks with no sense of identity using the exact same cat face over and over again.
they feel like recolored sonic ocs.
Now that that is out of my system.
Just out of curiosity I do have to ask, did you read the whole book through?
of course either way doesn't disregard your feelings as they are valid.
there are flaws with the new series but I find every one of the warriors books regardless of series has their super dumb scenes including the first series.
(Like how the authors didn't know how they wanted to approach yellowfangs roll and made her way too antagonistic to the point where my partner was actually frustrated that she didn't kill the kittens because that's what seemed to be the intended pay off. yellowfang from the first book is different from yellowfang from the second book.)
I do agree the amount of dumb is on a different level but at the same time there are some legitimately good scenes to me.

    • @QuietRage
      @QuietRage  6 років тому +24

No, the only part I've read is the quote I mentioned. And I read a few cliffnotes from various chapters.
I agree that every Warriors book has its flaws, even the originals. I don't know about the Yellowfang thing, since I haven't spent much time exploring her character, but it would be an interesting twist if she wasn't as innocent as she originally was.
Admittedly, I think if they waited to kill Briarlight off a bit longer, it could really be something. The scene of Alderheart and Jayfeather talking to each other about their grief shows a real connection between them, impressive considering that one of the series' biggest weaknesses is not establishing a strong bond between characters.

    • @galaxymew
      @galaxymew 6 років тому +4

I think the jayfeather scene works so well because he was so well established.
when the last book comes out I plan to make a comprehensive guide to what worked in the new series and what flopped hard and to a count between the two.

    • @galaxymew
      @galaxymew 6 років тому +3

Also the new covers are almost all traced off of one another.

The first series was about a kittypet learning to overcome a stereotype that made him strive to work harder, to prove himself worthy. Fireheart, formerly a soft kittypet, became a leader.
I thought highly of this series since it could relate to many people.
Omen of the Stars was not as relatable, since it was mainly about 3 special cats. Then, the Erin’s decided to give up everything we had previously learned about StarClan and the Dark Forest by letting StarClan and Dark Forest cats somewhat come back to life...or at least where they could die again but permanently, so they could fight each other. Which, in terms, seems less interesting as the series that come before it.
Also, before Omen of the Stars, the basic plot line was a bit harder to guess. After that series came out, it was abundantly clear that each book would have a mini problem of its own (A badger, a dog pack, beavers, droughts, etc) which was eventually solved by the end of the book; however, these small problems led up to the largest problem at the end of that particular series (like the Dark Forest Battle).
Since the basic plot has become so predictable, not the problems the characters face, but the predictably from the readers standpoint in knowing there will be some problem, has made the series dull.
-sorry for my typos, I sometimes don’t catch them-

Jaguarzk AJ All arc except one were about more than 1 cat... What kind of argument is that?!!

    • @kaliska_is_here
      @kaliska_is_here 6 років тому +11

Francis Thompson obviously an argument too mature for you to understand. My argument has nothing to do with how many main characters there are in an arc. Maybe you missed it, but my argument was about the story. Omen of the Stars gave Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Dovewing powers to help defeat the Dark Forest. However, in The Prophecies Begin, Rusty has nothing to help him battle the stereotypes he is facing. What’s even more amazing about that arc is that it shows us that anyone can be anything, since Rusty started out as a discriminated kittypet who had to work twice as hard to prove himself worthy, but he eventually became one of the greatest leaders ThunderClan has ever had.

    • @skyfires9987

Jaguarzk Firestar was the greatest thunderclan leader. He wouldn't let any of the clans die, and helped them in their time in need.

Savannah Angel Yeah, but his character went downhill after Darkest Hour and he became character development? What’s that? Also, I found that he was super boring and had no character outside of being the forest’s saviour.

    • @kaliska_is_here
      @kaliska_is_here 6 років тому +2

After the Darkest Hour, his character did seem to take a downfall, but nonetheless, I still think he was a good leader. I mean... I wouldn’t say he was the best, since that involves too much bias, but he was one of the better leaders.
In the first ard, his most seen character trait was his determination to be a good character.
But after he decided to try saving every clan every time one of the others were in danger, he just seemed predictable and boring. It is important to make sure no clan dies out, but sometimes it is best to let them handel some issues on their own. If they don’t, then the other clans would become dependent on ThunderClan to come to the rescue every time they are in trouble.

I think I have a theory why Tigerstar Jr. (Tigerheart) was 'resurrected'.
I found an article from 2016, which was about a study that deals with the moments shortly after death.
According to this study, even after cardiac arrest, consciousness (brainstem) would be active for a short time (4-5 minutes).
And people can be revived even after some time after cardiac arrest. (Yes, I know that in Warriors the medicine cat are not doctors (so medically advanced)).
But let's assume that the starclan gave Tigerstar his lifes shortly before the end of 4-5 minutes and somehow made that his heart start beating again ... So technically he might have been brought back to life that way ... this theory is clearly still expandable ... So, add something ... please
And the resurrection of starclan cats would not work because the cats have no bodies (their bodies were buried ...)
PS: I'm not an expert on such topics

i agree that tigerheart's resurrection was lazy but i don't actually hate the books as much as you do. they just seem a little rushed, like they're releasing a rough draft. at least most of the novellas that are coming out are at the very least more polished and interesting. spottedleaf's heart and mapleshade's vengeance have such dark undertones and it makes you feel a lot more than avos books.
I do totally agree with the name thing. warrior names are so flexible and can be used to describe a character. example: sage can mean wise or it's the name of a plant. horizon is where the sky meets the land but also a very free sounding word (idk how much sense that made lol). simple names are great too. graystripe is my favorite warrior name. he's gray and striped. perfect.

I think most of the problems with AVoS can be traced back to the publisher. I dont think the characters were that bad, but HC really wanted the extra $$$. I'm not going to pin the blame on the Erins for this one. I do like the new books, btw, but I think they could be better if HC was not so greedy for $$$ (Then again, is there a business that ISNT?)

Other than that though, the rest were really boring and only had 1 or 2 characters I enjoyed reading about. And can we just MENTION how much of a train wreck characters have become? i remember reading into the wild for the first time and it had such a charming and unique feel to it. while reading it i felt what firepaw felt, i could sense the heat of the sun on my skin and the cold breeze of the forest when i read that book, i read it again after 3 years and then i skipped directly to river of fire, and not even 50 pages in it just didnt have the same charm?? everything feels rushed and isnt giving me any irl sensations the way into the wild used to,,, alSO I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO HATED THE NEW COVERS AAAAA YOU BRING SUCH A GOOD POINT?? the first series that got translated in my country has the original book covers and its such a nice feeling to see these nostalgic book covers, and now the second series has the new covers and they lost all of their charm honestly #makewarriorsgreatagain

I’m fine with the new books, their ok, but I do agree with what you said about the covers. It’s all the same color scheme! They all just look like Firestar (except yellowfang) but with different colored eyes because of the lighting. But I do hope that the Erin’s, if they make another arc, try and talk to their editors and make them understand that they shouldn’t have as much control as they do now, because it’s a good sized chunk of why the series is lacking what it once had. I’d also wish they’d ask the new artist to switch up the color scheme a bit, tone down the new cgi-like style a little, and not give as much harsh lighting.

Here are my thoughts about AvoS, what's good and what's bad:
    The GOOD AvoS side:
    1. Glad to see that the main character(s) aren't related to Firestar (I consider Alderheart a secondary character, there and useful, but no the main focus.)
    2. There's no true villain and the problems are more about struggles in life, mentally and physically.
    3. It showed what happens when a non-medicine cat goes to the moonpool
    The BAD AvoS side:
    1. Characters are bland and unoriginal. The cat in a forbidden love, the cat trying to choose between kin or who they love, and the cat who has a sibling in another clan. We've seen all of this with Leapool, DoveWing and Bramblestar. It's getting boring.
    2. Bramblestar. Just. Bramblestar. I don't like him, he's the cliche son of the bad guy who becomes a leader, why couldn't he just be a normal warrior? He's a terrible leader and his character is just obsolete in AvoS, a leader should be a important figure and character in a book. Bluester and Firestar's presences were important, Bluestar made Firestar the cat and leader he was. She saved his life and had a vital purpose in the first arc. Firestar was a main character in the first arc, and he also had a purpose in the second, third and fourth arcs, especially in the third and fourth arc. Wow that was long.
    3. Twigbranch. You don't need an explanation.
    4. The plot is weak and boring. There are many other plots that would better serve than this one, such as a future lake where Firestar and the Dark Forest battles are now known as legends, or a bear killing off cats one by one, and the clans trying to find out why cats are suddenly disappearing or etc.
    End result:
    I don't like this arc.

Err thanks for telling me what I know at the end. But there were some really good moments for me in this newest series. Needletail, for one, had a fantastic character arc over the first three books, and her heroic sacrifice at the end of Shattered Sky did get me. I think a lot of people, even myself after I first read the scene, noticed the similarity between it and Stonefur's death scene, but I think that there were key differences that made the payoff of Needletails sacrifice hit harder, at least for me. Stonefur was always a hero, and there was never a moment in the books where I thought he might hurt Stormpaw to save his own skin.
Needletail on the other hand, was a selfish brat who had turned on her family and community on multiple occasions. She had had some moments with Alderpaw and Violetpaw, but it was always shown from a different character's perspective, and there was always the question of how genuine she was. Throughout Shattered Sky, we saw that she was heavily motivated by fear for her life, only plotting against the Kin after Darktail began to view her with suspicion. The series of events in that book served as a humiliation/trauma conga line for her, and while you could see her start to behave more altruistically throughout the book, even while in captivity, there was a sense at that point that she had lost hope for survival.
After being half drowned near the end of the book, she was offered a chance back into Darktail's good graces, and I think, for the reader, there is actually a question of what Needletail will do at that point, whether her development will stick, or she'll choose the selfish route.
I also felt for a lot of ShadowClan side characters Dawnpelt being betrayed by her children, wanting to escape ShadowClan with her parents and brother, but staying behind out of motherly love, only trying to escape when she had convinced her sons to leave with her, and had realized Sleekwhisker was too far gone. Everything about Puddleshine.
Briarlight's death, to me, was handled really well. It was probably the one part of Raging Storm that didn't make me want to throw the book. I liked the scene where she realizes she isn't going to make it, and just wants to be near her family until the end comes. And maybe I'm just a sucker for tragedy, but I like that it was the one most invested in keeping her healthy was the one who ultimately got her sick.
I have more! But I think this is getting long.
I definitely think that there's a lot of problems in A Vision of Shadows, but I wouldn't want for it not to have been written.
I do think a lot of the covers are pretty, but you're definitely right that their designs are awful when it comes to making the series stand out. Still love Shattered Sky's cover though.

    I completely AGREE with you...
Honestly I thought it was disrespectful to “redo” the old covers after the OG artist passed away. He’ll always be remembered... until they remade the cover art and stopped selling the old art. It’s screwed up in my opinion, and the fact that they killed off Briarlight WAS rude, especially after Vicky left. The whole story is getting boring and it’s falling apart. The fact that they’re not even trying anymore disappoints me to the point where I’m just going to stop reading. I’m already invested enough to read the last book in the arc, but after that ITS OVER.

Then we would have missed out on some cool things the series brought us. I loved the first half of VoS (except the Darktail backstory reveal). The Darktail plot was captivating and brought a different threat than illness, predators, weather, and battles to Warriors. It tore apart the code and what being a Clan really meant. It brought SkyClan to the mix. All of which are awesome.
But, the potential set up for redeeming the mess that was Omen was lost in book 4 and onward. The authors needed time to plot and write their new arc and the publisher forcing them to make 2 books a year doesn't give them that. Hence failing quality. River of Fire hits the emotional moments (Briarlight and Rowanstar) but doesn't impact the characters or the Clans. Each moment is contained in one scene that doesn't do anything afterward. SkyClan's coming doesn't even affect the Clans much when it should have.
It is possible the authors can make up for their failure with this arc in the last book, but I highly doubt it. At this point you can tell they are trying to fill 6 books with a 3-4 book content by stretching out blander scenes and characters. The ideas are great, they just can't develop it properly with the time they are given.

(this theory is clearly still expandable ... So, add something ... please)
And the resurrection of starclan cats would not work because the cats have no bodies (their bodies were buried ...)
PS: I'm not an expert on such topics

Hi! I just wanted to say I completely agree with you on some of this! The writing doesn't grab me the way it used to and I don't feel a great connection with the characters. The ONLY moment I felt emotion from was when Sandstorm died. Sandstorm is my favorite cat in the entire series. I love her so much and it KILLED me when she died. I read in the wiki that she was killed to 'thin the crowd' and I was so angry. Sandstorm deserved so much more than that. Her death, while tragic, didn't have the spirit of the cat I came to know and love. The wiki also said the authors would have liked to see her die defending her Clanmates. Well, then why the heck didn't that happen? A blaze of glory for a glorious cat.

I honestly feel you're overreacting. Like, a couple of bad parts completely destroy the book for you? A few dumb names, one of which isn't really the author's fault (I honestly don't think Thriftkit and Flipkit are that bad, a bit odd, but not awful since thrift is a flower), and ONE quote? That's enough to destroy the book for you? You could argue that the only reason they resurrected Tigerheart was because he was the only one the ShadowClan cats were willing to listen to, and Tawnypelt couldn't because she was too heartbroken over Rowanstar's death (they actually said that in the book). And to be completely fair, you didn't really read the book, you only skimmed through it.
I do agree that the Briarlight thing should've been done a bit later, even though I think it might've been a coincidence and I don't think the Erins intentionally did that.
Also, I kind of agree with you on the covers. Although, "disgraceful" is a strong word, and using it as proof that the series is creatively bankrupt is a bit of an exaggeration.
I just honestly think you're being a bit unfair. I mean, the entire arc is destroyed because of one super edition and a couple of bad parts? You even admitted that you enjoyed Shattered Sky quite a bit, and you were even excited for the next book for a short while.
I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but I genuinely feel you're being unfair. Books are going to have some bad parts to them. They cannot be masterpieces, and there are going to be some things that you hate in it. I hate Twigbranch, and I'm not a huge fan of Dovewing leaving ThunderClan (let's just agree that her and Tigerheart deciding to bang and have kits was stupid of them in the first place, because they wouldn't have had any dilemmas), but it doesn't destroy it for me. Maybe it's different for you since Dovewing is your favorite and she's always been a "meh" character for me, but this is just my opinion. Please don't be mad at me, I'm sorry if I offended you...I genuinely respect your opinion and I see where you’re coming from, I just want to point out some things in your argument that I don’t agree with and I wanna debate with you

Thank you for sharing your viewpoint, but I think there may be a misunderstanding here. This video is not meant to judge the overall quality of this book, I am aware that it could and probably has some genuinely good moments in it. I am only commenting on the parts that really made me angry. While I agree that in some cases, flying off the handle over one quote would be overreacting, I wouldn't say so for this quote. It honestly feels like a direct insult to all the work that went into establishing the previous lore. But I understand why someone would judge me that way, and I am okay with that.
As for the rest of the arc, one good book isn't enough to keep the boat floating. The Apprentice's Quest was pointless, Thunder and Shadow was kind of boring, The Darkest Night was just a background event while the real story was happening in Tigerheart's Shadow, and by the time this one came around, I lost all interest in it. Shattered Sky was a delightful surprise and a step in the right direction, but after that, they fell off the path entirely.

    • @NylaTheWolf
      @NylaTheWolf 6 років тому +16

Alright, fair enough. I guess I did misunderstand some things in your review. I guess I can see why you would view that quote as an insult. It's kind of hilarious to me how Tigerheart is "SO SUPAH SPESHAL" in River of Fire and Tigerheart's Shadow. And yeah, it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. It was a kind of messy plot line.
Yeah, one good book isn't enough to make an entire arc good. The Apprentice's Quest, while I can definitely see why you would view it as pointless, it does a good job with exposition and some really, really good characters (at least in my opinion). I liked Thunder and Shadow, but I can see where you're coming from. I really liked Darkest Night, but I respect your opinion.
In my opinion, I don't think they entirely fell off the path. There are still flashes of brilliant writing, although I do kind of wish it was a bit quicker. It feels slightly slowly paced, but hey, it's not as bad as Omen of the Stars. Maybe that's part of the reason why we like it so much, because it's an improvement on OOTS that even I, as a 9 year old who barely analyzed any art, knew something was a bit off.
But hey, each to their own.

I have to point this out to you, Quiet Rage, because I'm not sure you got the message, but the person who did the old AMAZING covers for Warriors, Wayne McLoughlin, died. He's on the actual Warriors wiki, and died in July 7th, 2015. So that's why they had to change the covers. Not because they thought they should, because the guy who did it died. So, I see your point in the rage, but they can't do the original covers. And give the guy some slack please!! It's hard, trying to follow in someone else's footsteps, especially if the old guy was AMAZING at his job (in this case, designing Warrior covers) Plus, I would be terrified in his place, getting this type of criticism. This isn't constructive criticism, this is straight out criticism. Why don't you just spit on his face and burn his house down? This is rude, when the poor dude is probably just trying his best. Just because of the new covers, and some odd names doesn't mean you have a reason to hate these books. Most people actually like this series, saying it's breathing back life into the series, so sorry if you don't like it, that's no reason to hate it due to a few names and cover changes.
But some of your points are valid. The new covers don't stand out at all, like you pointed out. They do look CG and are a little wonky for me. The names are somewhat werid, with Flipkit (I bet you're ready to flipOFF StarClan

I hate 99% of things about the new series...what happened to the old series? Oh yeah...Vicky isn't on the team anymore!
I mean..I get why they redid the covers (the original artist passed away) but they didn't have to make them all look the same! They could've been just as creative and unique, but no..they're all bland and boring.
Cinderpelt being reincarnated was decently okay with me because she was supposed to become a warrior, not a medicine cat. It gave her the chance to be a warrior, but Tigerheart and whoever else was brought back to life...need to drop dead! And Briarlight is dead now, too!?! WTF! She was a symbol of hope and willingness for a lot of people.
Don't even get me started on the new names...Fidgetpaw? Whatever. She could've been a fidgety kit when she was born. I get that thrift is a plant, but it's more associated with Thriftstores...Twigbranch..what's the next name going to be? Coffeechip or something? F off with the new series and SEs (Though..Hawkwing's Journey was okay.)

Bramblestar actually said I name you twigbranch in honour of how a twig grows into a branch WHAT THE ACTUALL HELLLLLLLLLLLLL
I was actually genuinely upset when I was reading River of Fire. Not because of the moments in it but because of the quality of the books, or lack of it. I really hate how they can't let anyone die in these books anymore, there was this large sickness, a forest fire and they only people that those two things PUT TOGETHER killed was Briarlight and they just randomly killed Rowanstar because of stupid Tigerheart.
I thought at first I wasn't satisfied because id just finished Harry Potter and to be honest nothing can top that but it was because i was looking at a warriors book I'd been anticipating for months that I was disappointed in and it makes me sad that that's the way it is
Allllsoo there's a series seven and I am not impressed let's watch our childhood get crushed even more by corporate greed shall we

the only thing these books do now are give lazy, boring and unrealistic prophecies and special cats. the original series let you see what clan life was about - it gave you a sense of adventure, and seemed to make everything much less predictable and much more interesting. the names were realistic, things that would seem reasonable to use. and deaths were much more interesting and sad. i miss the old books, and i don’t know why i’m still reading

oh thank god. I’ve seen so many people that are like “AVOS is so great and deep!! such a great improvement over omen of the stars!”
well..omen of the stars wasn’t great. But we knew the cats, knew their personalities because they’d been built up. I think I hate AVOS so much because none of the cats capture my interest! Alderheart was supposed to be a shy, anxious character, which I would’ve loved- except he’s grown way too confident in such a short amount of time that he just isn’t relatable at all anymore.
Twigpaw/branch is just..a discount Dovepaw. Same colors, same personality but less cool since she lacks Dove’s struggles with her power.
Violetpaw is a discount Ivypaw, but way less awesome. I was furious when (spoilers) she just left Needletail to die. From everything we know about Violet, Needletail was everything to her. Her best friend, her caretaker, her mentor; without Needle, there was nothing even connecting Violet to ShadowClan. you CANNOT expect me to believe that Violetpaw would just stand by and let Needletail be murdered...at the very least, she should’ve fought and gone down with her.

Plus they are dragging on MistyStar's life. She was born a wile before Littlecloud and I can safely say that she is the oldest clan cat. I am pretty sure she is older than OneStar and he was considered ancient and senile towards the end of his life. And if you go along her family illnesses you find that both BlueStar and Goosefeather had dimentia. I would assume that by now, with her being around twice the age of her elderly mother, should be dead or completely nuts! I assume she is about 15 years old now, with Graystripe being 12 years old. The fact that she didn't die the moment that she fought the rogues is surprising. She is the FireStar of RiverClan. My cat is 15 and if he were a human he would be a 72 year old person. The average lifetime of a cat who lives outdoors is 2 years. She would be around 100 years old as a human if we take that into account. Erins, just kill her. Yeah, she will be missed deeply but an outdoor cat living this long is absurd, not even taking into account that a lot of leaders die before their clanmates do.

And even I forget theirs at times. I feel like the series is getting out of control now with it's....."magic". And now that I know this stuff from those books, I kinda don't want to read them now. It's just all confusing with it's timeline. But other than that warriors is still my favorite book!
But will that mean when warriors finally die will they do the same crazy thing to the survivors series? I feel like they might do that.

Exactly! Omen of the Stars was about a battle between the dark forest and starclan. Power of Three was a quest to find the truth about their parents. The New Prophecy was a quest to find and settle in a new home by the lake. The original series was about finding the truth about TigerStar and killing him, defeating BloodClan at the same time. AVoS has something like this happen in every book, like an entire arc in one book. They have had like 5 prophecies in 5 books and no revealing of what the arc will lead up to.

I honestly think it's harpercolins thats the cash grab. They have such a huge word to the books, rejecting the names twigshade, sparkfire, etc. They also don't allow the erins to write in canon lgbt stuff. Harpercollins also delays books release, and only sells hard cover books for a year, and the normal one will only come out later (talkin abt the super editions, many fans won't be able to bear it and by it w/ the hard cover that costs more). It's also harpercollins who tells the erins to keep on writing, and I feel like maybe even the ones who want them to be on a tight schedule (unconfirmed). This is just my opinion, you can politely argue with me and I respect that, but don't attack me violently. If you find any of the information false then I am sorry, I am not a professional at this. Thank you for reading.

I understand where you're coming from but I am enjoying the new series personally. I like alderheart, not just his worrisome personality which is a pretty new trait for a main character, but the way he is treated negatively by others like jayfeather and bramblestar, and even sparkpelt. They arent necessarily all bad characters, I like jayfeather, but he can be a jerk. I like how in the beginning alderheart lets himself be pushed around or dismissed unfairly, but as he gets older he starts so stand up for himself and grow confidence and we see a more opinionated side of him come out as words and not just in his thoughts.
Also, I have definitely experienced emotional reactions to this series, my heart ached when violetkit and twigkit where seperated as kits. I was quite shocked when needletail died in such a brutal way, how violetpaw had to watch them almost drown her for something violetpaw did, then she herd needletails dying yowels as she ran away. The amount of guilt and ptsd that could give someone is unimaginable to me and definitely reminded me of how dark warriors is.
I honestly haven't read the older books for a long time and plan on listening to them all on audiobook, maybe having them fresh in my mind to compare to AVOS will change my mind, but so far I am enjoying the new books.

To be honest, Quiet Rage, the new kits names are not that bad. Flip and Thrift is odd words, but mothers normally name their kits after something, like how they look, how they act, or who they remind them of(example: Rainflower's kits; she named Stormkit after the storm that forced her to run, and Oakkit for the oak that saved her life).
Flip means to make a sudden movement or to turn around. Ivypool was possibly thinking'this kit will be an agile little fighter!'
Thrift is a english flower that is purple and grows in bunches. because warrior cats are based in england, its totally understandable Ivypool might of come across some Thrift in her life!
The reincarnation thing is a mystery. Yes it is a cop-out to have someone who has been dead as of the story nearly 2 generations, But you also got to keep in mind, this is a fantasy novel series. If you where to say reincarnation was a cop-out,wouldn't the entire legiance of dark forest coming to the real world ALSO be a cop-out? if the dead can come back to the land of the living, that is just 1 step away from reincarnation, which is essentally giving them a mortal body.
And finally, Briarlight's death is definitely tragic, but there is still reason behind it. she got sick after a storm, and in normal creatures, we need to move to fight off illness. the more blood pumps through the body, the more antibodies can get to the illness quicker.Briarlight could not move very fastm and the sickess took her...as for the disrespect of Vickie part, alot of times, in media, they retire characters who lost voice actors or actors cause that actor is the only one to potray the character properly(Think Maud from Simpsons. when her voice actor died, she was killed off as well). This is just a theory, but what if the erins, after vickie's leaving, thought they could not properly portray her,so they killed her off. It also brings back a warning Jayfeather was told back in 'Fading echoes'. Littlecloud warns him about how a cat named Wildfur had the exact same issue; broke his spine during a cave in,and got a severe chest infection and died.

To be honest, I think the series should have ended on the last book (the darkest hour?) in the first series, then a few special books afterwards, telling you about more of the backstory of characters, instead of completely new stories.
Like, just no. - The original characters made this series, Fireheart(Rusty), Greystripe, Bluestar, Yellowfang, Tigerstar, Sandstorm, and the other characters, all were somewhat important to the story and clan, even the ones that had a short time in the books, they were so thought out and interesting (no order, just randomly putting names) (Spottedleaf, Silverstream, Ferncloud, Mosskit, Tawnypelt, Ravenpaw, Dustpelt, Sasha, Snowfur, Whitestorm, Lionheart, Brightheart, Swiftpaw, Cloudtail, Crowfeather, Leafpool, Squirrelflight, Longtail, Mousefur, Honeyfern, Cinderpelt,, Sol, Darkstripe(or..dirtstripe hueh), Leopardstar, Blackstar, Tallstar... etc (there's too many to write aha..) - Now I barely know who the heck the characters are..And I remember a lot of the original cats, despite not reading the books in 2-3 years...Sorry for rambling lol, just sad to see something being milked so hard + a series end on a bad note.
EDIT; with the question in the end, - the parts in the warriors I cried(im not very emotional.) was yellowfangs death + the little deaf kits death, ahaa.. (I'm so connected to all the previous warriors, - now i think a lot of people are just reading,.. words... and that's sad...I didn't even buy the new books because of how the previews were / i've been seeing a lot of videos & when firestar died i lost interest, afdsfdskblljglkfkdj....)
